The mods have been working on making some changes to seddit ever since we reached 50k subscribers. We've been working a bit on the sidebar info, the wiki, other stuff...

But we want to hear some of your ideas, if you've got em. We're gonna be updating the links in the sidebar, probably coming up with some more "strict" rules about what kinds of posts are allowed here, stuff like that.

So what do you guys think? Should we get rid of every post that's about a specific girl, or are there some other aspects that would make that sort of post acceptable? To give my argument, I think it's acceptable to ask about a specific girl as long as your question is relevant to "general" shit -- so if you talk about dancing with some girl, and then you ask how to approach at a club, that's fine because a lot of our users don't know how to approach at a club. Sure, they could read through the sidebar and probably find something about it, but it's not really practical to expect that. The large majority of our users (as much as 85%-90%) are "newbies" who want to know how to get through whatever shit they're going through, and IMO we should be open to them (mainly because they make up the majority of users, and also because their posts might help out other guys, or might lead to some good discussion, or whatever). We've gotten literally hundreds of complaints about the "quality" of the subreddit (which has been happening since the beginning of the subreddit), but most people's arguments tend to be "I've seen this already, so I don't wanna see it again!" Well, we can't abide by everyone's whims, and we want to help the majority of users. If the majority haven't seen Blueprint Decoded, or don't know how to handle flakes, or whatever, we want to help them (even if you personally already know all about it -- because you've read about it here, or on some other site).

We're gonna try to make the sidebar more efficient, so you can more easily find answers to your questions. Right now it's a bit jumbled, but that's mainly because there's so much information about different topics, and their subjective "importance" totally depends on what sort of situation you're in at the moment. We also have some major issues because a lot of the people who posted about various topics are no longer on seddit, so in order to update them, we basically have to make new threads about them (the mods don't have the ability to modify old posts or anything like that -- we would've already done that if we had that power).

I also want to know if you guys want to see a change in colors or theme for the subreddit. IMO reddit's standard theme is lame and we can use a revamp. Feel free to give us some ideas (and we'd probably also like to talk with programmers who know what they're doing).

Tell us your thoughts! If you've got some idea that I haven't mentioned already, let me know about it. If you want to see less "shit" on the front page, just realize that we know exactly how you feel, but it's hard for us to make objective decisions about that stuff unless we have some extremely strict rules about it. Our front page right now has a question about partying after college (which has been addressed before), a question about living with parents (which has been addressed numerous times), a "classy" way to handle rejection (which has probably been addressed over a thousand times in the community), and some shit about approaching in clubs (again, it's been addressed before, countless times). Yet these questions still help other people who are wondering about them and don't know how to search for that stuff (or are too lazy to do so). I believe stuff like that is perfectly fine for seddit, especially because we're the main subreddit that deals with it.

But let us know how you feel about all of this, and please add whatever other ideas you have.
