Danger: Star Wars comparison approaching.

Yoda is trying to tell Luke to use the Force to get the XWing out of the swamp. Luke whines that it's too big and is totally different. Yoda says it's not different in reality, only your mind. Luke tries, but sets himself up for failure becasue he didn't take Yoda's words seriously. He fails and sits down defeated. It's impossible, he says.

Yoda sighs, focuses, and succeeds where Luke failed. Luke looks at the little green guy and says "I don't believe it!"

Yoda responds with "That's why you failed."

A lot of advice can be boiled down to this basic idea: nothing (especially when it comes to interacting with the opposite sex) is impossible unless you make it impossible in your mind first.

I have had more than one guy ACTUALLY say to me (and it blows my mind) something along the lines of "Hey, I like you, but I know you'd never date me, so I'm just going to try to stop thinking of you in that way and just be your friend." I never understand it, and it definitely ruins any chance they might have had.

I like to see it as don't do what you wouldn't do for a male buddy. So, ok ignoring sex as of course you wouldn't sex your buddy but you would sex a lady. But say some random guy came up to you in a club and asked for a drink. Would you buy one for him? No, you would tell him to get lost. If a buddy asked you to pick him up to take him to a party and then wait for him outside and then drive him home, would you do that? No, you would tell him he is a piss taker.

Do the same with women, don't take no shit from that and just don't be a phaggot.

And oh always assume attraction. Always assume that any girl that is talking to you is doing so because she wants your dick. Can't go wrong with that frame on mind.

I would argue the same goes for a lot of other things in life as well. You do not need to tell others about your limitations. Let them figure it out. (You might even be wrong about your limitations)

So very true. You lose all chances you have once you make a judgement for them. It's even worse if you tell them about it - as a girl I hate it when guys say something that justifies their hesitation. Even 'oh but you're too hot/smart for someone like me' - it makes me wonder, 'Are you man or not? Can you prove yourself or not? Can you turn yourself into someone on equal standing with the pedestal you've presumably stuck me on?'

This doesn't mean you don't take responsibility in certain situations though.
