Background: I fell into divorce law in 2008 when my first legal job at a small corporate firm ended when the firm folded unexpectedly after a really stupid move by one of the partners. This was a week after i signed a mortgage for our house and a week before my daughter was born more than 2 months premature, having lost 90% of her blood in the womb, needing two surgeries and ending up in the NICU for 3 months - she's 13 now and fine but that 400k medical bill set me back - divorce law was all i could find for work. A few years later we moved to Bangkok based upon a career opportunity for the wife and I fell back into divorce because no other foreigners here had any real experience. Most of the shit I've done over the years has been high conflict, CPS, international child abduction, pretty nasty shit. I'm trying hard to leave that all behind. TMI sorry. This might be therapeutic ...

EDIT: Thanks for the questions and comments everybody, I'll check back over the next few days to answer some more but it's Friday afternoon in Bangkok and I'm outta here.

Key takeaways:

  1. The legal system will only do things to you unless you make it do things for you.
  2. The behaviors that lead you to your divorce will not lead you through your divorce.
  3. Being a hero for your kids isn't taking repeated kicks to the nuts with a smile on your face. Respect yourself, care for yourself, become yourself.
  4. Read Sun Tzu's Art of War; Read 48 Laws of Power - your new bibles.
  5. If you plan to divorce, then plan your divorce.

Peace brothers. Much love.
