I love how professional this looks! I really want to do this, but like also edit it with my own notes and dad’s pro-tips on men and then condense it into a pocket sized novel for my purse to take with me on dates and re-review in the bathroom while I hype myself up to be ruthless. 😂
Also I’d print with some unassuming cover so if it was ever discovered by a LVM, he would never open “101 fun ways to deal with menstrual cramps” (with a giant vulva on the front) or something like that.

Haha some are pretty culturally specific, and specific to me, so I don’t know if it would be to the benefit of the group. I have shared a few insights from my other account though :)
I guess the latest me-specific advice he gave is that in terms of dating is that because I’ve been single for years, I know myself really well, extremely independent, and now in my 30s wanting a companion, I really need to move where the men I’m interested in would live and get out more to places they would hang. I’ve really made myself in a place with a lot of men who love their mamas, country music, hockey, and want a wife and family. Works for some gals, but not for me. I’m way too into music other than country, history, food, and travelling for these homebodies who don’t travel outside of our province unless it’s Mexico or Vegas, so I’m a fish out of water here. Not even sure if I want a family atm, so I’m always finding cosy men who want to settle down with a white picket fence and imagine me as their wifey, when I want a bearded best friend and slightly introverted man (I tend to extraversion a bit) to travel the world with that complements my quirks and makes me laugh.

With the exception that I'm 100% childfree, this is nearly identically my issue. And I live in a big liberal city with wokebros! I've dated men who claimed to be CF, only to turn around on my and say they "think they might want children one day". I've dated men who say they love that I'm financially independent, but then moan about how it's unfair I make more money than them.
What I'm trying to say is that even men who seem "untraditional" or the kind who say they "want a partner not a wife", deep down have the same tendencies as all other men. If they can take advantage of you, they will. That's not to say you shouldn't move to where you'll find the men you want — if that's what you want! A bigger market will likely yield more of the results you're looking for. Point is that LVM are everywhere, and to always be vigilant.
Stay strong Queen!

Oh yeah LVM are 100% everywhere. I just think I need to move abroad to find people who are less....country? And I live in a huge market for these kind of guys, but alas, not my market. My parents have been telling me this since I was little, they always saw me moving away. Like a ton of women fricken would die for a husky Canuck guy, but I moved to the Southern Hemisphere a few years ago for a couple of years and felt more at home outside of Canada than I’ve ever felt here. I’m itching to do that again and have been juggling learning about a half-dozen languages to make my own mini utopia in my house haha.

I live where you described. (Edited to hide my location.)

Sometimes I think half of FDS is just women from our location, sick of the b/s from men here hahahah 😂😭

Can we maybe all contribute to a real life “little black book” pocket planner that incorporates the FDS handbook as well as interactive pages (after a first date, promotion, basic glow up goals)
Edit to add:: title: The Bad Bitch Book.
[–]immortallogicFDS Newbie14 points15 points16 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Don't fall into the trap of thinking calling women bitches is empowering, it isn't.
[–]Lovelywings2FDS Newbie2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah. I’m not a bitch.
[–]SpectralCadenceRuthless Strategist5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's a reference to 'Why Men Love Bitches'. I was shocked at first when I read that title, but Sherry Argov explains it as such: Babe In Total Control of Herself.
(WMLB is a GREAT book and what made me FDS when this sub didn't exist)
[–]BitchkittenzzFDS Newbie2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Haha! I feel differently, I guess. A bitch is a female dog, first and foremost. Yes it was at one point used as a derogatory term, but given the current climate and shift of culture and diversity(as well as the metoo movement etc etc) its a way to almost...take back that word. Most of the time, the reason I am called a “bitch” as a form of insult is simply because I’m standing up for myself, making my voice heard, or setting a boundary.
So when I hear “bitch” with malicious undertones, I’m proud that I obviously stood my ground.
[–]Rebirthed_QueenFDS Apprentice6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The satisfaction of knowing that the LVM who use it against you are powerless and that you are in the right is different than willingly accepting it as a moniker. Rather than reclaiming a typically derogatory word, using "queen" or other terms typically associated with female power seems better for creating a women-positive climate. It brings me joy seeing that kind of fond usage here between FDS members.
[–]immortallogicFDS Newbie1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I see what you're saying, but it's still used as a derogatory term. It's like the s_ _ _ walk claiming to take back the word s_ _ _. But the connotations mainstream still mean what they mean.
So while you may feel empowered by it, because societal connotations still exist for it as derogatory towards women, it does little to actually change anything.
Stand your ground and be a boss without calling yourself a bitch! Personally, if I see a woman doing something dope but then calling herself a 'bad b****' she loses credibility because she's still playing into a term created by the patriarchy to bring women down.
[–]BitchkittenzzFDS Newbie0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This was part of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ response to Yolo trying to save face an apologize for calling her a “fucking bitch”
“... And I am also grateful to Yoho, grateful not just for the conversation about the cultural mechanics of misogyny and patriarchy, but grateful for a very simple reminder: When they call you “a fcking btch,” it usually just means they’re afraid of you. Sticks and stones may break my bones, and words can certainly hurt me because that, ultimately, is the point of insults — to wound us like the razor wire would that is strung on top of walls we try to climb over in the name of change.
So I’m proud to be a fcking btch, even if the words sting, because I know it means the people who built the walls are afraid of how close we’re coming to knocking them down. They can call me whatever they want; it’s not going to stop me”.
[–]immortallogicFDS Newbie0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I heard that too and it's good she stood up in the face of it, but the fact remains that it was used against her, and is 99% of the time used by men, as an insult against women.
Rather than "reclaiming" a derogatory word, why not simply normalize respectful language towards yourself (boss/leader/referring to other women as sisters, etc)? Also, if women normalize its use, then men will think they also have the right to call women b*tches. I get the perceived empowerment of it, but bowing to the language of the oppressor is not empowerment.
Therefore, you will never catch me calling myself a b*tch, And I 100% call it out when men or women refer to women as one.

This sounds quite interesting... I'm adding this to my ideas list.
[–]PahapanFDS Disciple5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I want to do this for my mom! She reads a lot, especially self help books (none of which have managed to cue her in to the fact that she's married to 300 pounds of LVM dead weight), but she isn't really big on reading digitally.
Is something keeping the authors of the FDS handbook from trying to get published?
[–]Moira_SpiceFDS Disciple7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm the one that made the handbook compilation, I didn't publish it since none of the texts are mine.
I think there's some online services that propose to bind the document you send in, then deliver the binded version to you.
[–]Rebirthed_QueenFDS Apprentice4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It might be difficult to perform anonymously as there are multiple contributors. I also believe the handbook periodically has new key posts added and revised, so a physical copy would lack those updates as the handbook evolves.
[–]PahapanFDS Disciple1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
True, it would be really hard to organize. I feel like there's always some new revelation and always room for another key piece of advice. It would be hard to think of the book as ever truly finished. But that's what editions and volumes are for, haha.
It's mostly the multiple anonymous authors thing that would need to be reconciled somehow. A good editor could take care of everything else I'd expect, but someone would have to gather all the contributors together (if that's even possible, I expect some people are no longer active on Reddit) and either get their sign off to use the material they contributed or invite them to help write the book.
It would be super difficult, logistically. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's brought up the possibility of a book being written, but I really do think that FDS is something that should be shared with the whole world.
