I think people are overlooking the fact this man was on the job and part of that job is controlling a very big vehicle. What this woman did can be compared to someone grabbing for a cop's gun.

If, the man had lost control, and if this man drove that bus into a crowd, would you feel the same? Bottom line is she was out of control. The driver wanted her off the bus. He got up, hit her and threw her off the bus. She got right back on to escalate the encounter. What exactly is too much? All he did was hit her and throw her off the bus.

He can't be held to a higher standard because he has excellent form and knows how and where to punch. She started a fight, his goal, for his safety and the safety of the people he is charged with, is to remove her as quickly as possible.

Oh, he telegraphed that punch. The only reason it landed so well is she probably thought, 'No way this nigger gonna hit me, I got tits". Well, suck it up.

I wonder what would have happened if a female 22 year veteran bus driver had been assaulted by a young black man who she then punched out? I'm thinking she would have received a medal, not be suspended.

I'm amazed at how often I see this. Here's a classic example:

I'm on a bus in bad part of the city, 10pm on a cold winter friday night.

Woman gets on the bus. She's drunk and probably high. She gets in an argument with the driver lasting several minutes, telling him that she's not going to pay, there's nothing he can do and she'll call the police if he doesn't let her on for free.

Eventually, the passengers get restless. Grumbling begins and eventually someone behind me says, "Jesus, get off the bus for fuck's sake. We all want to go home". Murmurs of agreement follow.

The woman whips round with a snarl on her face. "WHO THE FUCK SAID THAT? What fuckin CUNT said that? Fucking come on then! I'll fucking chib ya!".

The bus is quiet, everyone's afraid. So I stand up. "I said it". I walk down the bus towards her. "I said it. What are you going to do?" And you know what? This five foot two woman really was going to fight me. And I'm six foot four and weigh about 225.

I was a doorman and a bouncer for years and I learned this lesson over and over: men are not a problem; the vast majority will only start a fight over something that really matters because they know they'll take a beating even if they win. An incredible proportion of women will start a fight over nothing because they believe that they have no accountability of any kind and no matter how irresponsible or unwarranted their action, no one will ever punish them.

The problem is that by and large they were right. I've seen many a man bundled away by the cops for giving a guy who had sex with his girlfriend a slap. And I've seen women leave someone needing dozens of stitches for no reason I could find, and the cops let them walk.

It is slowly changing, I believe largely due to support groups like this one which get the truth out, but there's a long way to go.

Reminds me of this incident where a group of girls attacked a pregnant girl on a bus and her boyfriend managed to split it up. He suffers many blows and kicks to the head and face but does NOT respond at all other than to use his body as a shield. It was a sucker punch. What he did wasn't right. Not because she's a woman, but because it was a sucker punch.

But the woman was wrong too. You can't just pick a fight like that and not expect some sort of consequences. You pushed the guy until he snapped. If I went up to a guy in a bar who was twice my size and dumped a beer on his head; nobody would feel any sympathy for me if he put me in the hospital.

Likely opinion of the driver and their actions: 1. Done in self-defense, he's one bad motherfucker. 2. Empowered and awesome woman, stickin' it to a walking example of NAWALT! 3. BusDriverLady/Clinton 2016!1!111!!! 4. An all around terrible situation, he should have had more self-restraint.

Somehow, the completely out of place response for no. 4 is fine with most people and I am also a bad person for bringing it up, because privilege.

Even if the passenger was male, he had no right to do that. His job is to drive the bus. He should have stopped the bus and called the police.
