If by conservative you mean non-leftist, then I think that's pretty accurate. RP tends to oppose modern feminism which is pretty much on any leftist platform.

I'm a classical liberal/libertarian and I think I'm inherently drawn to RP. I'm not RP though, because I don't think TRP describes my social circles and I don't believe AWALT.

[–]SetConsumesAlways Becoming0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

What rp theory have you read? What's so different about your social circles?

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

I agree with hypergamy and evo psych to an extent, but I see TRPers here claim that slutty women can't get a husband or that men are gatekeepers for relationships, and I kinda think those are just-world fallacies. About my social circle... I have SJW friends from college and they don't seem to conform to TRP in how they do relationships. I also have Asian friends from childhood (in Asia), and some Asian women seem pretty happy marrying flabby guys and don't really look for Chads. I mean judging from the men my female friends have married and they're not rich either and my friends are doctors and stuff so they don't really need "providers."

The chad / stacy thing seems to be very Anglosphere specific and also very lower middle to working class specific.

It comes from certain consequences of mass culture during the 1960s sexual revolution. You'll find flabby couples in the US upper middle class as well.

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Makes sense. People across the globe are still influenced by western media, though. But actually I was looking at Asian arts at some point and I couldn't find the equivalent of greek sculptures in ancient Asian arts, so maybe those male traits are really not all that valued.

[–]sunkindonut149Blue Pill Mouse1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

There are many depictions of warriors and soldiers in Asian art, from all parts of Asia, I have noticed. I think the main difference is that there are more naked men in classical art of the Mediterranean, since ancient athletes competed in the nude.

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Interesting. I was specifically looking at Chinese arts (I'm ethnically Chinese) and all I saw were men with round faces lol. There's less emphasis on the "chiseled" look.

[–]sunkindonut149Blue Pill Mouse0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I have heard of the terra cotta soldier sculptures in China, who look tough to me.

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah they have the 'tough' look but I have to say I look more muscular and chiseled than men in those sculptures. I ran into terracotta in civilization games and had no idea it was a Chinese thing.

[–]sunkindonut149Blue Pill Mouse0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it is. Idk. Like adobe in the Southwest.

[–]SetConsumesAlways Becoming0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I agree with hypergamy and evo psych to an extent, but I see TRPers here claim that slutty women can't get a husband or that men are gatekeepers for relationships, and I kinda think those are just-world fallacies.

Slutty women usually don't get the alphas they so want. They get lower valued men no problem.

You don't think men primarily choose if they'll commit or not more than women? It's not always that way, but it is for men with options.

About my social circle... I have SJW friends from college and they don't seem to conform to TRP in how they do relationships.

How so? Do they have egalitarian relationships? That's what I'd expect.

I also have Asian friends from childhood (in Asia), and some Asian women seem pretty happy marrying flabby guys and don't really look for Chads.

Of course, flabby guys are typically reliable provider husbands that won't abandon her later on in life. The safe option, and it allows the woman way more control and say.

I mean judging from the men my female friends have married and they're not rich either and my friends are doctors and stuff so they don't really need "providers."

Which fits perfectly into rp. A woman with money doesn't value men being providers, she will value fun and masculinity and adventure instead. Actually it's one of the biggest problems, what to do with all the men whose biggest asset to women is being a provider!

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

It's not always that way, but it is for men with options.

I think women have more options* than men in general even when it comes to committed relationships so the statement that men are gatekeepers is not generally true. At least until the women hit the wall.

Edit: *having more options is not really the word. I guess I meant less disparate.

A woman with money doesn't value men being providers, she will value fun and masculinity and adventure instead.

Yeah but my friends didn't really marry the masculine types. They're the flabby guys I was talking about, and kinda lacking alpha traits.

I mean, it's usually what women are trying to do, get commitment from men they really want. What's their biggest tool and sign that she's got him? Love!

First he falls in love, then she works on getting that ever sought after marriage proposal.

It's pretty much desperate men that reverse this and really want to lock down a woman as I think you're alluding to.

Yeah but my friends didn't really marry the masculine types. They're the flabby guys I was talking about, and kinda lacking alpha traits.

Are the partners good friends with each other? Or why do you think these women chose these men?

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Or why do you think these women chose these men?

I have no clue. That's what puzzles me. I'm not good friends with those people anymore and I just see their wedding photos on facebook.

[–]the_calibre_cat0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, this describes where I stand exactly. I don't think that just because women can vote and gay marriage is legal that ALL of the traditional methods of wooing women are out the door.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There definitely seems to be a correlation between RP and conservatism/right wing politics.

[–]Jex117-1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

must be why they love social justice initiatives and marxism

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Your confusing the libertarian-authoritarian axis with the liberal-conservative one.

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I'm curious what you think social justice and marxism fall into in these axes? I actually find social justice and marxism pretty authoritarian, not in theory, but in practice.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I'm curious what you think social justice and marxism fall into in these axes?

They are incredibly, incredibly authoritarian. Just look at what happened at UC Berkeley. The very foundation of social justice and marxism is to restrict the freedom of others for a common good.

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's not quite the foundation I think. Marx subverts the classical definition of freedom with his Hegelian stuff about alienation. Even then I think his stance on censorship is not clear -- he conditionally supports free speech as a tool for the working class. I think the pro-censorship social justice arrived much later with Marcuse's 'repressive tolerance.'

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well of course, Marx himself was a logical and intelligent man with reasonable opinions. But Marxism today has been warped, it basically is a pool of hyperbole, consisting of things like "poor people on the streets are dying because of Wall Street bankers"

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Intelligent yes. Reasonable opinions I'm not so sure.

[–]alreadyredschoolRational egoism < Toxic idealism3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Marxism is like 10 steps backwards, no idea how anyone could call that progressive.

You don't need to be conservative to know that shit tastes like shit or that marxism is retarded.

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

You shouldn't take a word like "progressive" at its face value. Progressivism is defined by people who practice it. It is definitely inspired by Marxism. Social justice stems from the critical theory, which is a neo-Marxist theory. Socialism is considered progressive and definitely has its roots in Marxism, even though not all socialists agree with Marxist views.

Edit: Aw now I'm curious what the response below mine says hahaha

[–]YetAnotherCommenterPurple Pill Man, Sexual Economics Theory0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If you define "right wing" in terms of "opposition to Marxism and Intersectional SJ" sure. But this is a stupid version of a political spectrum that defines politics as a dialectical pseudo-monism where "the right" is merely "the non-left."

TRP are generally secularist and their aim is to achieve regular casual sex. They aren't the religious right. Most of them, when they express foreign policy views, want some sort of noninterventionism or isolationism, so they aren't neocons.

They aren't Oakshotteans, they're hardcore rationalists.

They have no connection to any kind of thought considered conservative in political philosophy.

You know whom TRP most reminds me of? Old-school, 20s/30s/40s era Progressives. Positivism, determinism, the idea that society can be perfectly explained and structured and manipulated with one single theory. Auguste Comte was a sexist too.

[–]EliteSpartanRangerNice Guys Don't Ask For Rewards2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Nationalist is a conservative movement.

Liberalism is about inclusion and tolerance, which is opposed to nationalism.

[–]YetAnotherCommenterPurple Pill Man, Sexual Economics Theory3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nationalist is a conservative movement.

Left-wing nationalism would disagree. You can find it in Australia, in most Scandinavian and European countries too. Hell, even the fucking French National Front is socially liberal (it is pro-gay and opposes Islam owing to Islam being socially conservative) and economically left-wing. Look at the economist Gunnar Myrdal - the intellectual architect of Scandinavian social democracy - who stated that Scandinavia's relative lack of cosmopolitanism made it the perfect laboratory for social democracy.

In short, your understanding of nationalism is the kind of shallow understanding I'd expect from someone who's understanding of political philosophy came from looking at the last 20 years of American politics and never read anything beyond that.

Liberalism is about inclusion and tolerance, which is opposed to nationalism.

Only if you ignore the existence of the Classically Liberal Civic Nationalisms that emerged in the wake of the French and American revolutions. Which only substantiates my charge of your understanding of political philosophy being historically illiterate.

[–]Ercole-- points points points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

That's because they hate socialism and had no other choice than a known liar, which is slightly better than a probable liar. I wanted Bernie, personally, but I wasn't born in the middle class and don't need to see poor people beneath me to validate myself.

[–]sublimemongrelBecky, Esq.2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

A lot of us liberals voted for Bernie too at the primaries ....

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A lot of liberals wanted more socialism or that more of a socialist state. And the only people that really voted for Bernie are whites who where college educated. As Bernine only won in all white majority states except for Hawaii which is not.

[–]Shazoa3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't see how a known liar is any better. From little lies that make no sense, to big lies that are dangerous, Trump has been a cunt every single day of his presidency so far. His policies have almost entirely been shit for everyone who's not already rich.

What would Hilary have done? Some bad, some good, some mediocre. Importantly, better. The whole false equivalence between them is incredibly baffling.

[–]CarkudoThe original opinionated omega0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I'm about as radically liberal as they come, but in an election like the one the US had in 2016, I would've voted Trump too.

I must be one of those weird people then. I assume TRP were socially/culturally more traditional and conservative. When you say anti conservative what do you mean because I am wondering if we mean different things.

[–]fiat_lux_Red Pillar10 points11 points12 points 9 years ago (26 children) | Copy Link

One of the biggest hints that TRP isn't pro-traditional is that TRP has officially and outright rejected marriage. It's one of the main reasons for the gradual TRP/RPW/MRP split. It's the pillspherean mason dixon line.

TRP is about getting laid, game and flirting. So I wanted to ask what certain things have to do with flirting, fucking, partying etc. The obvious answer - nothing - but why tho? Because r/TRP is the manosphere outlet on reddit, so stuff unrelated to it will come up.

I remember when a number of black and Latin guys cosplaying as ancient Egyptians would go around REEing in my city about feminists were keeping them down via some KKK, Jewish, Masonic conspiracy.

This is a natural consequence of economic failures in the city. Young, salty men are easily drawn toward extreme ideologies such as the alt right and its iamverysmert cousin, dark enlightenment and mens rights.

Economically conservative means little government control, low taxes and deregulation.

In theory this sounds great because more money, but you can't forget that it's always at the cost of demonizing the poor and fucking them over at every corner.

There is no such thing as trickle down economics. That's just a myth they sell you in order to fuck you over more easily. There's just the rich getting richer and the poor getting fucked over.

It's great for the prison industrial complex and the war industry, but it's bad for everyone in the middle class and below.

There needs to be regulation simply because corporations are beasts and there needs to be taxes for a working safety net, health care, meals on wheels, infrastructure and everything else conservatives somehow don't care about because they blame the poor for being weak and lazy instead of addressing the actual problems that create poverty and gang crime in the first place.

There is no such thing as trickle down economics.

Do you actually believe that?

[–]BiggerDthanYouBluetopia3 points4 points5 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Has it ever held it's promises? Trickle down relies on the fairness of those that are trying to get as rich as possible

[–]alreadyredschoolRational egoism < Toxic idealism2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Cities are richer if big companies move there. Relies on fairness? Have you ever heard about an union?

[–]BiggerDthanYouBluetopia5 points6 points7 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You mean those things that conservatives hate even more than other religions?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What twisted definition of "trickle down" are you using cuz it isnt the one the rest of the world is using. What you described isnt trickle down econ

[–]IndisputablyNotACop points points points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Today's poor have nicer toilets than Ludwig did, and salt and sugar are accessible to the poor as well as the rich. If that's how you want to measure wealth, okay. That Ludwig did no physical labor on a daily basis, and today's poor have hectic, constantly changing work schedules that prevent them from being well-rested, physically fit, and thoughtful about nutrition seems to have slipped your mind.

But lets say, for the sake of argument, they really are wealthier than old monarchs with their refrigerators and baseboard heating and such. Whether or not it's thanks to capitalism, as opposed to advanced technology that could have progressed under any one of a number of political economies, is debatable. For example, it's easy to say that Xiaoping's market policies are what made China so rich so quickly, but that's if you ignore the fact that the PRC was economically isolated before that because the Western world didn't want to see communism succeed. Does capitalism increase standards of living because it's actually so amazing, or is it because the financial institutions of the world suppress any political economy that they don't like? Claiming to have a definitive answer to this question is more than a little unfounded.

IMO, you may be right that it's all thanks to capitalism. What's wrong is your confidence in such a simplistic proposition.

[–]alreadyredschoolRational egoism < Toxic idealism0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

What's wrong is your confidence in such a simplistic proposition.

It's only simplistic because it's a one liner but on my side is a huge thought process you can't see since I didn't write it out.

Anyways to keep it short - I think that the main driving force behind most inventions and innovations is capitalism.

You're right. I think rpers and bpers both see conservatives as enemies.

OP might be lumping conservatives with rpers because he/she sees them both as enemies and only focuses on the aspects they share that he disapproves of, like patriarchy or whatever.

There's a lot of conformity among lefties these days. A lot of self-proclaimed liberals and even feminists are now deemed dangerous by the movement. So they tend to see most things they disagree with as 'right-wing.'

A lot of conformity in the right, too. But they don't seem to ostracize people as much for disagreement on a single issue, I think.

[–]fiat_lux_Red Pillar0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Look at how one of them talks about ppl voting for Trump in this very thread. Tradcons hated him. They're just falling in line now.

They obviously give themselves more leeway when denying any conspiracy exists between Sanders and Clinton. They somehow know that Sanders and Clinton groups were genuinely different ideologically in multiple ways. They just dont extend the same benefit of the doubt to groups they oppose.

[–]Ercole-- points points points 9 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I think they're idiots too, but more specifically, I think that they're mistaking "traditional masculinity" for masculinity. They're familiar with traditional gender roles and assume that's what we're referring to when we talk about being masculine/alpha. They don't understand that we're talking about testosterone fueled behavior and mannerisms and we couldn't give less of a shit about who does the dishes.

They are anti-"liberal"/"progressive" but not conservative in the classical sense. Some are Alt-right (aka rebranded Nazis) but most are more libertatian which is decidedly not conservative - only in the US could they ever end up lumped together with conservatives because of how the political system is set up. They certainly aren't religious or promoting family values, instead they actively encourage to enjoy the decline with being extremely anti-marriage, pro-promiscuity and even infidelity and like most of reddit the majority are atheists. Conservatives, by definition, aim to maintain traditional values like marriage, community, religion etc. while TRP openly works with the current social developments that dismantles them, for their personal gain of sex and enjoying themselves. They might vote Republican since that is the biggest anti-feminist platform right now but they have very little in common with the conservative wing (compated to the economic neo-liberal one)

[–]godfatherchimpRed Pill Man0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Libertarian is based on a good idea but it's really shitty in action because the strong then just screws over the weak.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

because the strong then just screws over the weak.

so basically, it's the right attitude with which to approach the modern SMP, yeah?

[–]EliteSpartanRangerNice Guys Don't Ask For Rewards1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This really doesn't happen as much as you'd think.

Attractive people tend to bunch up with other attractive people, but less physically attractive people who stick within their leagues tend to do well in the SMP too.

In conventions of any sort, startrek, furry, scifi there are people getting laid, and they're not all Chads.

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I think you're confusing RMP and SMP. Most couples in relationships are looks-matched (or matched in some other ways). But for the casual sex market place, women have all the power. You just don't see it often because attractive guys fuck ugly girls on the dl.

[–]EliteSpartanRangerNice Guys Don't Ask For Rewards0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I know a lot of physically not that attractive guys who get laid too. Basically just go to any nerd convention and I guarantee there are people who get laid there, and they're not all Chads.

[–]purpleppparmchair evo psych1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But I'm sure there's a lot of competition for women in those nerd conventions. Those guys are the lucky ones. A physically unattractive guy may get lucky. But a physically unattractive girl is guaranteed a dick if she gets on the internet.

[–]godfatherchimpRed Pill Man1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

8 years of liberal control of the White House where 95% of the wealth gains since the recession went to the top 1% and global-warming-causing failed car companies get bailed out. Your liberal paradise is the strong screwing over the weak.

Compare that to 19th century America, which saw the largest outpouring of charitable activity in history, and the fastest increase in the standard of living of the poor. It was also relatively libertarian compared to today...at least for white men. The economics of that time would have been even better if women and minorities had equal rights.

[–]hypo_hibbo2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This was the time of industrialization AND colonizing much of the USA AND having a fast growing population. Maybe that factors might also have helped the economy ?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

AND colonizing AND having a fast growing population.

[–]EliteSpartanRangerNice Guys Don't Ask For Rewards1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think they used to be liberal and most likely live in a liberal city, and then became conservative in order to rebel against the majority. Many redpillers also go to websites where edgelords hang out and discuss how rebellious they are and stepping up to the man.

[–]midnightvulpine[🍰] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Inherently? Not sure.

But in practice, with a lot of prominent voices who lean both towards various levels of conservatism and red pill, a certain connection. I don't think I would say it's necessarily inherent between the two, but the connections are present between them.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The Red Pill is made up of mediocre men. They are the men who are natural losers who have seen 'Chad' succeed in their place and are trying to hack the system to get that success.

Conservative men, who seek to limit women's rights and influence to return to the old days of the sexual welfare in which a mediocre man could have sex with a young virgin by providing for her and marrying her (and denying her the chance to divorce without social stigma) are mediocre in the same way, because they cannot compete in the open sexual marketplace.

Hence Pillers and conservatives are almost the same.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Becoming Red Pill made me conservative. Before that I was a liberal, hippy feminist.

There does tend to be an anti-pc, self reliance overlap between trp and conservatives, but i think thats where it ends.

Typical conservatives of the past 10-20 years have been heavy on the social conservative issues - no gay marriage, no abortion, everyone should be required to carry damnation insurance through a single provider, chastity belts for teens until they are married at age 15...

Most of those positions are very much at odds with rp maxims like 'dont get married, spin plates'.

Trumps republican positions are very light on social conservative issues, so Trp has an easier time getting behind them.
