I'm a guy and I've been harassed by both women and men over the course of my life (not on a regular basis, but several incidents), though neither have particularly scarred me, mostly I was just annoyed when it happened, though I understand and can empathize that it affects many if not most others much more deeply.

Do you think 90% or 95% of sexual harassment is male perpetrated, or is there at least somewhat more parity? I hate to think that my sex has a monopoly on that kind of evil.

I have thought about how some behavior might be considered harassment if done by men to women, but wouldn't be considered a problem if a woman did it to a man. For example I've had female friends touch me sensually (for example on my shoulder) without my explicit permission and I didn't mind it because I thought they were attractive anyway and I was already being flirtatious with them. I've had older women do this as well even without me being flirtatious (and go further, like touch my beard even though I visually showed discomfort) and it's a little bit annoying sometimes but I don't feel threatened by it. However if I made that move on them, it's likely they would feel harassed, even if I was just touching their shoulder or something.

I don't really have a problem with this double standard - men have more power than women and someone has to initiate touch, so it makes sense that the woman would be the one who gets to do it. It only becomes harassment IMO during a flirtatious situation if she reaches for a sexual part of the body or she continues to touch the man after he says no or shows discomfort.

Do you think me experiencing a couple cases of female harassment (nothing frequent, just isolated incidents like a catcalling/butt grabbing by a teenage girl at a concert and a couple of middle aged women getting too sensual without my permission) makes me an outlier among men, or do you think a lot of men could recall similar episodes if they thought hard enough about it?

My hunch is that 1) yes, women do get harassed more but 2) men are not as threatened by harassment due to the power/physical size differential between the sexes, and thus may be more likely to forget about it, so it might not be as overwhelmingly male-perpetrated as the stats suggest.

Have any of the men here been harassed by women, and have any of the women here seen a woman harass a man or done any behaviors that might be considered harassment if a man was doing it to a woman?

One last point - I go to strip clubs a couple times a year, and I've noticed that the female clients actually tend to be more hands-on and disrespectful of the strippers than the male clients. I realize part of this is because strippers often show female clients favoritism, but despite the creepy vibe some of the men at the clubs give off I don't think I've ever witnessed a male client harass or grope a stripper, but I've seen several female clients touch them even though the rules say you aren't supposed to.
