To add my personal perspective: a man who is high value to me does not cheat. It is his choice whether he provides or asks me to pitch in. And it is my choice to state, at the outset, that I am looking for monogamy.

Perhaps define what makes a man high value to you, and you will find where your personal boundaries lie around fidelity and monogamy.

I care about monogamy so cheating is detrimental to the point it is low value - a heavy item on the scales. I've been cheated on where I tried to forgive and continue, but there was no going back to how things were and the end of that relationship was a feeling of relief I haven't forgotten.

...For a situation where those terms would be okay with me: If I didn't love him. Theoretically there's a reality where me & husband would stay married and both have other partners, but that's polyamerous rather than cheating.

A HVM isn’t going to cheat. Cheating is a character flaw. HV, in my option, isn’t just about wealth or success/ personality and character are a huge part of being HV for me. Cheating is impulsive, selfish and short sighted.

I would attempt to work through infidelity ONLY if children were involved and only if the circumstances allowed it.

Otherwise it’s a deal breaker. I divorced my first husband for this and I have absolutely zero regrets. Turned out to be the best thing that could have ever happened to me. My self respect is non negotiable.

Cheating is disrespect. I would never tolerate disrespect from a man, even if he’s a billionaire. I think most women have enough self worth to not accept cheating.

He can cheat as long as I’m allowed to continue dating and looking for a higher-value man who might want to commit to me.

If he cheats he's not HVM. For me HV stands for having strong sense of morality, loyalty and not choosing instant gratification over long term goals.

Cheating is short sighted, impulsive, selfish loser behaviour just like gambling, violence or drug/alcohol abuse. If man is able to cheat the following behaviours I mentioned are also likely later in life.

Some cultures permit a man to have multiple wives, which aligns with a woman's hypergamous nature. Having a slice of the best is preferrable to having all of the less.

R-strategy: reproductive strategy behavior where quantity (and therefore number of reproductive partners) is paramount, and investing in the offspring is lessened or non-existent. K-strategy: reproductive strategy behavior where investment in offspring is paramount, and the quantity of offspring (and therefore number of reproductive partners) is lessened or limited. This theory of reproductive strategy began in biology when observing animal behaviors, where it was debunked that species must exclusively use one strategy or another. In reality, many species are fairly adaptive. In humans you can see how "free love" vs. sexually conservative norms exist even when our reproductive drives are being suppressed through contraceptives. This is r-strategy and k-strategy behavior, even if actual reproduction is removed from the pictures.

You can find behaviorally r-strategist and behaviorally k-strategist men at any level of society, in any subculture, at any point of the value scale. But most women who are consciously looking for a life partner want a high-value k-strategist, so you have to have more to offer than your competition or be willing to accept a lower-value k strategist. Some women will prefer higher-value r-strategist to the highest value k-strategist they can find, which can take the form of various arrangements (hall passes, designated side piece/s, don't ask don't tell, just to name a few).

This separation gets trickier when you get to the absolute top echelons of value. It is possible for an EXTREMELY high value k-strategist to get to the point he can consistently financially maintain and emotionally wrangle more than one woman, and you end up with functional second families in the homeland or full-on polygynous households or somesuch. Although IMO most men attempting this don't have the consistency of frame needed and it's highly likely to end up "dysfunctional" as a high-investment attempt and wind up being better classed as r-strategy behavior.

If he’s mega successful, I’d expect and prepare for it. Get a fair and solid prenup and have clear expectations and boundaries (condoms, no holidays, etc). But that’s for billionaires or Tiger Woods types. The rules change for 6 figures and less.

I look at this from the perspective of the Mormons. If a man can support multiple women, and multiple children; as long as everyone knows about everyone else, I don't care.

Actual cheating, in a committed monogamous relationship, to me means the noncheating spouse is doing something wrong, that someone felt the need to cheat.

High value implies that he also has strong values, unless you both agree on a polyamorous/polygamist relationship, cheating/adultery/infidelity is quite a low value character flaw.
