Please forgive any potential rambling or typos.

I was just broken up with.

When we first started, I was hesitant to sleep with him because I didn't want to raise my number with meaningless sex or waste my time with a guy who wanted that. But after a month of going on really thoughtful dates (all his ideas) he told me he wanted to be in a relationship. I figured that after a month with no sex and only cutesy dates, any guy who was only interested in sex would have lost interest. Plus he seemed really genuine.

In our relationship, I tried my absolute best to apply the tips I read here: I let him lead and supported his decisions whole heartedly. I was sexually available, eager, and I was often the initiator. I did my best to shut up and avoid mindless chatter. I wore dresses and I cooked for him, complimented him on his accomplishments and appearance, the works. Despite all that, after a little less than four months, he ended it, saying he didn't want a relationship anymore.

What I'm saying is, I'm not some girl who's been going around having one night stands. I tried my best to find someone who was serious.

I feel like my worth is diminished. I feel like I spent four months devaluing myself to future men.

What I'm wondering now is where that puts me? If I was unable to demonstrate my worth to him, how can I be worth it to someone else, if my number is now one higher? Am I worth less because of my past relationship?
