Take it from someone with a BA in psych and currently pursing a masters in therapy. I think it’s okay to cry in front of a woman that you see as a true partner for yourself. Vulnerability builds connection and connection builds trust. In front of a woman you haven’t known for a while I’d say not. You can still be masculine and cry.

Never exhibit emotional weakness, emotional vulnerability, or body/emotional insecurity in front of a woman. It never works to your advantage with regard to building or maintaining attraction.

There are other ways to exhibit "vulnerability" without comprimising yourself.

Depends on how you cry (sobbing like a bitch or a few proud tears rolling down your face) and about what you cry (being overwhelmed because your too much of a loser to get by in life vs. out of passion/compassion/grief).

Also it has to be noted that narcissists use crying to lure back in their victims, yes even male narcissists, so crying definitly has manipulative power in some contexts.

I cry when I listen to music that touches me. I go to classical concerts by myself on purpose so I don't feel constrained not to cry.

Now obviously, crying out of awe in front of art is different than crying out of some personal immediate aspect. Do you think there is any difference in the way it is percieved?

Depends on the woman, some might be okay with it and like that you’re vulnerable around them. Some might be repulsed by it and lose respect for you as a man. I don’t think it’s worth the risk

My father has cancer and everytime I tell it to someone, who doesn't know, my voice cracks and sometimes I cry, sometimes more, sometimes less. Heck, I even cried in front of my boss, which was pretty embarrassing, but he was very understanding. I've NEVER felt judged by a woman and it was never a reason for rejection, even for women I just met.

Ok yes, generally, avoid crying in front of people you don't know well, because it's a sign of vulnerability, can be interpreted as a weakness and people often don't know how to handle it, when it comes unexpectedly. However, the reason why you are crying is really important, too. If a friend died and thinking about it makes you cry, isn't that just human? If anything, I think women would be even more understanding than men. I guess culture plays a big role, too, though. In a more traditional society, people will tend to be more judmental of men crying.

Btw, if you see the end of the video, there is a lot of reasoning for the rating (as you, OP mentioned), him crying is only a few seconds of the whole video and if anything, one woman even mentioned it as being something positive. Saying it's the reason he was last, is just cherry-picking. If you edit the video another way, you could also reason, the video is an example of racism, because the last place has the darkest skin.

On a side note, I find it really interesting that the two tallest guys came in 3rd and 4th, the 4th one being one of the most attractive ones (according to the women doing the rating). I would be interested in how the "you have to be 6 foot"-crowd would explain this.

My father always told me that as a man you can cry in front of a women only in 2 situations:

When your dog dies
When your family member dies

In every other situation crying would portray you weak in women's eyes and also could be used against you later in life.

I agree with him. Do not listen to women saying that "it is okay to cry as a man". It is not and it will be used against you. (probably not directly)

My ex literally rejected a guy before she met me because he was a "crybaby" in terms that he got his eyes wet (not even crying per-se) when she visited him with her friend randomly and he did not "expect them". Brutal? Yes.. But this is how women operate.

I think as much as you can, cry in private or cry to your close guy friends. It doesn’t raise attraction to cry around her. I mean, if you’ve gone years and been the rock, once in a while crying about something genuine or beautiful (death of family member or birth of a new) that’s okay, but at essence you want to make sure you are strong enough to support her at all times, and that’s the beautiful sacrifice we make as men. There is something so powerful about a man who is open and emotionally in tune and can weather a hard event or heightened event with stillness and internal peace.

When I found out my dog died (was living with the ex gf in Germany at the time) got out of bed, went to the basement and sobbed. Punched a few things down there, came back up stairs. Sure I was sad and depressed but I never cried in-front of her.

Even when we broke up after 5 years I never cried…maybe teary eyed but that’s just me.

Now do 10 approaches without onion induced tears and let us know your findings.

Point to note: I can confirm that squeezing lemon juice into your eye does not neccessarily repulse women, but if women are asking you why your crying and if they can do anything to make you feel better, the painful sensations in your eye will be to severe for you to take advantage of the situation.
