It should be noted that this was not done at a hospital, but at home with scissors, olive oil,forceps and no anesthetic . FFS who does that to their child.

I'll post as someone from the United Kingdom.

Circumcision is not recommended by our national health service, but they will not stop parents who choose to do it. The procedure can only be performed in a hospital by a medical doctor.

Secondly, this is more of a problem whereby we've been importing medical "professionals" from Sub-Saharan Africa without properly scrutinising their qualifications (because quite frankly, you can't). I want to know if she was legally allowed to practice as a midwife because the procedure she performed there, even if it was done properly, is still not part of a midwife's sanctioned training. I don't think a nurse can do it either, and certainly not in a home.

Also because the prisons are full, she's a woman and we don't want to appear "racist" or "sexist" she'll get a minimal sentence, if at all. I guess the fact that she is 66 would also work in her favour.

I was all reared up to give out yards about how this person died from an unnecessary procedure.

But then I noticed that it was performed at home, in a highly unprofessional and most-likely-illegal way. I can't say, with full honesty, that this wouldn't have happened even if circumcision was banned.

Unfortunately this happened in my hometown a decade ago or so. Whoever thinks circumcision is risk-free is lying to themselves.

I'm not even talking about the circumcision aspect of this either. I'm fine with the practice of circumcision.

I'm talking about the lack of sterile environment, proper tools and a medical professional treating the baby.

I mean, what the fuck? It's your fucking baby. It's fine if you want to have it circumcised but at least let a doctor (or hell, even a nurse or nurses assistant would be better than a midwife) do it.
