It's funny because at 27 I've never had a girlfriend or been on a date, but this is exactly why. I've probably had 2-3 girls (that I noticed) a year try to ask me out, but I was never really interested in them, so there was no real reason to date. For me dating isn't "I want to get to know this person and see if I like them" it's "I really like this person and want to get to know them better".

I've had to deal with a lot of bullshit because of my choices, but I think I'm a lot better off waiting rather than just clinging to someone, anyone just to not be alone. I think the people who are most insecure are the loudest and of course you never hear about a couple that clicked, dated and finally married/lived happily ever after. You always hear about the "crazy girlfriend" or "stalker boyfriend", so people just assume most people are like that.

As a 17 year old boy I find it disgusting that people are so shocked by this. Sure, sex IS important to me, but to be perfectly honest I can take care of my sexual needs by myself, I think boys who search for relationships are more honest than females. A lot of women only want boyfriends for what seems to be status, that's worse that only wanting sex. You have to understand why women would be confused as its all too logical. Sex with someone you care about is preferable to sex with someone you don't care about is preferable to sex with yourself, but the unavailability to have the ideal won't stop a young guy from choosing option two or three.
