Did they get what they deserved? The recent attack by two women of a man at McDonalds

Let's switch the sexes for a minute.

Two men go behind the counter and begin assaulting a woman who is just doing her job. The woman then defends herself with a metal rod, and continues to beat the men while they're on the ground. What's the response going to be from the general public?

"YOU GO GIRL"

"She did what she knew she had to do! She was courageously defending herself against those woman-beating thugs!"

"HEADLINE: WOMAN BRAVELY FIGHTS OFF TWO AGGRESSORS ON CAMERA!"

"What I wanna know is this! Why didn't anyone else step in to help her!? Where were the real men in this restaurant? Why weren't other people helping her fight off these two animals? She was all on her own and she did the right thing!"

"THIS WOMAN IS MY HERO!!"

etc...

Switch the sexes back, and you get the response we're seeing all over the place. Equality? Bullshit.

If you jump the counter at a place of business, you are playing a dangerous game with your own life and putting the health and safety of everyone working at that store at risk.

Anyone who feels bad for these aggressors who were trying to jump a guy who was just trying to make a living needs to take their blinders off.

Its not ok for women to hit or attack men. These women learned that lesson and got what they deserved. Sadly, they will probably win a lawsuit when they really should've been charged with robbery.

Of course the women, both drunk, after slapping the man and further attacking him 2 on 1

I hate this case.

On the one hand, two drunk women who assumed (correctly) that they can be violent and not be held accountable to the same level as a man, also assumed (incorreectly) they could start violence and not get hit back.

Where the issue gets murky is that the cashier used a weapon, and after his attackers were down, kept savagely beating them. I'm all for using appropriate force for self defense. But even if his attackers were male, I think most people would agree that continuing to batter them in the head and back with a weapon was beyond the scope of self-defense.

The women will not get the felony charge they would have surely gotten if they were men, and they undoubtedly will become rich for being complete criminal assholes. But that cashier went too far, and deserves his punishment. If he had simply knocked them down, maybe punched them in the face to back them off, I have no problems. But he downed them with a weapon, and kept beating and beating them.

Like some said in the main video threads about this, swap the genders, does it seem overboard then? Some girl beating down two males who jump over the counter for her, everyone would cheer her on and tell her she was so brave.

I got news for you, if I'm working and someone jumps the counter at me, I'm not stopping beating their ass until they are knocked out. I am not taking a chance that they may have a hidden weapon that they pull out and try to either stab me or shoot me.

I think the clerk acted correctly by defending himself. He crossed a line when hitting them while down.

This should not be treated as male on female violence, but as a store employee defending himself.

This is a tricky case.

On one hand, the women attacked him first, jumped behind the counter, and he was just defending himself. The women clearly deserve jail time, more jail time than they'll probably get.

On the other hand, he used a weapon on them while they were down. This makes it so he isn't a sympathetic victim. There is a limit before it stops being self defense.

the guy was a little too zealous, but overzealous self defense is not as atrocious as everyones willingness to ignore the fact that these women both verbally provoked and physically assaulted this guy. He didn't attack two random customers, or two customers who were just verbally abusive, he defended himself from two customers who were in the process of assaulting him. One slapped him in the face, and the other jumped over the counter. Jumping over the counter demonstrates a clear intent to continue the assault.

At first it seems like he's overdoing it, but you should always make sure you disable the opponent badly enough to stop them coming after you again, especially when you are outnumbered. That said, he'll go to jail and they'll get rich, just how it is these days.

Whether this is a reflection of a personal fault on behalf of Mr McIntosh, the conditioning that comes courtesy of a ten year stint in jail, the degenerative aura that comes from visiting an impersonal fast food vendor or simply the unresolved trauma of a man who has somehow confused and armed himself against what he perceives to be a hostile world is up for debate.

I'm not convinced gender comes into it, but my gut feeling is there would probably be less seething if the cashier's attackers were men as opposed to women cause despite claims of gender equality, beating up a woman just never goes down too well in society.

My only issue with this situation is the fact that the cashier kept hitting these two assholes when they were already down on the ground. Yes the two customer were horrible people and deserved any and all physical punishment. However, my line was drawn when he kept beating them with a metal pipe after they were incapacitated. Had either of the two assailants gotten back up to continue their assault I could understand but from what I could see, they were out for the count.

No matter what this was a shitty situation from the moment these shitheads walked into McDonald's.....

I was watching the video. The line, "That's when they were attacked," made me pretty angry. No, that's not when they were attacked. That's when they started a fight. A fight which they lost. It doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman. Don't hit someone and then charge that person unless you're prepared to get the shit kicked out of you. That's the risk you take with starting fights.

He continued the beat-down for longer than necessary, but those news anchors were talking about it like it was unprovoked.

I would argue that a woman would be much less likely to do this as a man. You probably want to downvote me at this point. Please, keep reading. If I recall correctly, this man was placed into the prison system at one point. In that kind of environment, disproportionate violence is the only rational response towards any perceived threat. Prison is a feral society where one has to shut off his senses of humanity, kindness, and civility if he wants to survive. Thus, individuals serve their senses, emerge broken in a mental and spiritual sense, and try to live a productive and fulfilling life. As studies on the revolving door phenomenon show, this is often not the case, and this whole incident is a very good example of that.

So yes, a woman would be much less likely to do this, because she is, on average, going to get a much lighter sentence. She is spared the brunt of a feedback loop that produces hardened criminals, people that have been forced to rewire themselves into violent people. Perhaps this goes on to explain the rarity of the instances of the female version of the "hardened criminal" archetype (and also why it is so prevalent among black people).

I just think that you all are really approaching this the wrong way. Most of you are just being angry at the double standard itself, rather than the mechanisms which produce it. Also, you guys are condoning this type of thing. A disproportionate response is not what should have happened. They deserved to answer to a court for what they did. Probably a fine and probation. They did not deserve the injuries they received.

It's just that I can't say with any sort of conviction that it is this guy's fault, either.

I hope there will be some sort of rally for this man if he is sent to prison; It is not fair for him to go to prison, while the two aggressors walk, as stated in the article.
