What is the perception of men's advocacy amongst queer (LGBT+) people?

I'm for male advocacy because I'm a man, a gay one.

Just as I recognise problems with feminism, I acknowledge that there are some real issues with what passes for men's movements today. In some quarters there is reactionaryism, bitterness and actual woman hating. And I don't really relate to some of the things male advocates point to as problems, like dating imbalances with women (though I've no reason to ignore it as a problem).

But I think the majority of things that affect straight men affect all men/male identifying people.

An area of interest to me is how men can improve things for themselves at a grassroots level, particularly through the reinvigoration of healthy male social outlets.

About as the percentage of gay men's advocacy in that community. About 0%. Since it's more then just LGB, it became a woke homo and biphobia hub. I want nothing to do with them.

They happily support countries like Iran for their liberal transgender laws even though the truth is that they force homosexual men to change their sex as a punishment or "treatment". They have nothing against that disgusting truth and call you the worst things if you speak against it.

I'm a gay man and I could not be more antifeminist and supportive of the MRM (and have spoken to a bunch of other gay MRAs as well), so it's not quite 0%.

However, my experience has aligned with that of most of the commenters here - the LGBT community as it currently stands has, by and large, absolutely swallowed the bullshit that is feminist propaganda, and as such believe that males are universally ultra-mondo privileged and women are subjugated. Consistent with this faulty worldview of theirs, they're hostile towards men's rights activists. Men are privileged, right? So - as Karen Straughan put it - when they hear MRAs saying that men have real issues with discrimination, the only way they can reconcile what they're hearing with what they believe is to conclude that men asserting their rights are actually demanding the right to oppress women.

Well there's a huge overlap between "LGBT" and feminism (at least online). And in general there's a strong dislike of feminism towards anything with the word "men's rights" attached to it. So there's your answer. At worst, they are outright hostile and distrusting of it, at best they treat MRAs as misguided simpletons. "Yes, men have issues too but they're still small compared to women's issues and also feminism is against all men's issues anyway so you might as well just be a feminist".

At least some of us (i.e. me) recognize the othering patterns from experiences with homophobia. The sort of disgusted way homophobes describe perfectly normal human behavior as performed by gays is similar to how really far-gone sexist people describe perfectly normal human behavior as performed by men. The sort of "there's no way to win with these people" nihilism is very familiar to me.

I'll support any rational changes they suggest, like the right to live, love, and marry how they choose without being harrased.

But they've made it very clear that as a "cis" I can only ever be an ally and never their equal, so I don't actively participate in it.

Im 100% with mens advocacy and apart of the lgbt community A lot of us support it whether we would admit it or not. Its just that there is so much gatekeeping in our community and politics involved. The moment you support something not traditionally “woke” certain people automatically assume you are against them

Additionally to all the good comments, one thing which I believe hasn't been touched on is the lack of knowledge about the MRM in the queer/gay community and how group think influences people's (queer men's)opinion.

When I was a more active queer activist, when I would here about MRAs I would think I know what they are: right wing traditionalists ragging about the despair of traditional masculinity. I don't even know how I got to think of MRAs like that, maybe articles, maybe bits and pieces of conversations. And if the topic of MRAs would have been brought up, if someone would have been denigrating them or just asserting the above, I would assume that they new what they're talking about, and that kind of would have confirmed what I already thought. One have a stereotypes about given group and base their view of them from that, without really understanding what the stereotyped group is really about. And I think the queer community, and gay men more particularly, are victim to this kind of group think very much.

As an example on a slightly different topic, I'm a transman and years ago I used to watch videos by a lesbian called Arielle Sarciella. I was surprised a year ago or so to read in some queer articles she was now a TERF and transphobic. So this time, rather just letting myself get told, I went and I had a look at those famous videos, and what I discovered was a lot more subtle that one imagine when one hears trans-phobia. I ended up watching some other youtubers supposedly in the TERF category, and again, it was just so much more subtle that just basic trans-hating. Similarly before that, I discovered MRAs are actually a lot more than just right wing traditionalists.

I'm mra and I'm bisexual and so are the majority of my friends, we seem to have an even split in my group of friends between feminist mra and none, so from my personal experience it seems its pretty mixed on opinions

I don't think it's particularly different than regular people. But in LGBT spaces online you'll have a lot more extremists, allies, "allies" that may lead to in general more averse to men's rights than average person.

With the admission that I am not really involved in any LGBT+ circles, my understanding is that most LGBT+ people are in favor (at least tacitly) of men's advocacy, while most LGBT+ activists are against it.

I'm bi, but I don't hang up much in LGBT spaces because of all the feminism there. The issue being that if all the non-feminist LGBT people flee for the same reason, it's hard to be certain about the proportion of non-feminists.

I've spent some time on a LGBT dating website that had a forum attached, and found out that actually, a lot of people were indifferent to feminism and just couldn't be bothered with it, and there were still a few who realized it was a toxic ideology. A lot of them were fed up with the "pride parades" and the image it gives of LGBT people...

So, hard to tell, but don't take LGBT activist spaces for representative of the LGBT people.

Well, masculinity is often frowned upon in LGBT. Trans men get told that they should not abandon their feminine side while trans women are told they will never truly be women. Gay men hype themselves up to act girly and are a scarce ressources that straight women fight over, at the same time, gay women often say that men are irrelevant and that we should let them die. Bisexual men are not taken seriously while bisexual women are seen as a normal thing. I could go on and on but you get the idea. Masculinity is not something that is encouraged in LGBTQ+ communities.

As a trans person I wouldn't call myself a "Men's Rights activist" since that implies only men have it bad because of sexism same as I wouldn't call myself a feminist since that implies only women have it bad because of sexism.

I'm just for equal rights and MRAs are better at that than Feminists. Feminism is a female supremacy group.

I'm bisexual, there was a point where misandry was being called out left and right in r/bisexual, even using the term misandry as well. I'd say the world is healing :)

a lot of gay men view themselves more like women, so they align with that sort of ideology.

you also see this sort of masc vs femme shit in gay forums as well.
