Single men are slowly but surely gaining a presumption of default 50/50 custody. This will reduce the single mother problem and add fathers back into their child's life.

[–]Oxynewbdone 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (28 children) | Copy Link

Children are much better off living with a single father than a single mother.

[–]Sem_vd_Brink 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

If I may ask, why is that? No offense I think either sex could raise a child well but the other commenter couldn't get an awnser... pray tell, why is a single father better then a single mother?

[–]LouisdeRouvroy 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Statistics show that children of single parent household fare the worst when said single parent is the mother, while they don't fare badly if it's the father.

The question of why is that is a complicated one but the main reason is teenage boys need a father to handle them. Because whether it's dropping out of school or committing crime, the figures are mostly driven by how boys fare.

The next question is why a single mother often cannot control her son who's stronger and taller than her at 13? I wonder...

[–]Sem_vd_Brink 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Okay, again do you have any point of reference? Any credible study I can look into or is this just a study you heard about on facebook.

The second sentiment I dont quite know how to react to the second part since as much as I had hoped my father to be there for me, as they say in undertale, no one came. My mother never needed a dad to handle me. Most of my friends live with single parents (one has a dad and the other three have single moms and they turned out fine.)

This is a matter of the respect of the child. If the mother has any difficulty "controlling" the child there is clearly a problem with the authority and respect the child has. It has nothing to do with the size of the child and I highly doubt a child is often times taller then the mother at age 13 (may just be the geographical difference (I live in the Netherlands where allearently people are supposed to be taller))

[–]oushkul 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Look up Jordan Peterson. He's been studying this for decades and did an in-depth discussion with another academic of the benefits of fatherhood. It starts with exuberant play at a young age. Something father's lean towards and mother lean away from. This needs to start young for the children to learn boundaries. These boundaries are maintained throughout childhood into adulthood. In the video they discuss children who grow without father's actually have a measurable biological difference which shortens their life expectancy. This is how important father's are. They actually allow your children to live longer. A fatherless child from a high performing school will achieve less than a child from a struggling school with both parents. This is a prerequisite as to how well your child will do in adult life. The involvement of a father is more important than that child's school, yet parents will move heaven and earth to get a child into a good school. Why not just maintain a relationship with the child's father? It's a good watch. If I can find the video easily I might add a link in an edit.

[–]Sem_vd_Brink 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

If you'd add the link I'd greatly appreciate that, though I do believe what you say is correct (sounds credible at least). But in this sense both parents are equally important. Indeed children do need a father but they also need a mother. The thing I dont understand about the post in general is the hate pointed towards single mothers, calling single motherhood a form of degeneracy. I believe the father is equally as important but as much as a child can suffer the loss of a father, so can it the loss of a mother. I dont think (this is my personal opinion, not backed up by any source) any parent is more important and I dont think we should circumcise single mothers for being exactly that.

[–]oushkul 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I never claimed that mother's weren't unimportant. I was answering your request for sources of information as to why father's are necessary. I think the objections arise because the women in relationships are generally the ones who end the relationships, certainly in marriage, causing single motherhood and absent fathers in one swift action.

[–]Sem_vd_Brink 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I never said that you did, sorry if it came off like that. And as I said, thanks for the source of information. Okay, but if someone ends a relationship, that is most likely for a reason. Just like how you would end a relationship you're not happy in. And before you use the argument that breaking up would disadvantage the child, keep in mind that staying in a relationship you arent happy in is never beneficial for anyone. Negative feelings could arise, fighting can occur and a child has nothing to gain from whitnessing their parents in a loveless marriage/partnership. And if the father decides to be absent after that, it's on him. If the mother doesnt want the father around the children she must have a reason for that. It's not always a good reason but more often then not a mother has good intentions towards the child.

[–]oushkul 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A mother often, not always, has the best intentions towards herself. Often the children are used to punish the father, which obviously does no good for anyone involved. IMO, any woman found to be withholding access with no valid ground should lose custody to the father.

The problem with the bulk of what you have said is that it is true, but the system has been set up to place the financial responsibility for any split squarely on the father's shoulders. This is changing but far too slowly.

Also, since the advent of no fault divorces, women are almost incentivised to leave their partner, as it gives the option to secure a new relationship while being supported by the old. This must change too.

A bigger problem than what is being discusses here is, men are increasingly avoiding marriage, partnerships and parenthood. This is going to come home soon in a very real way. Until the whole system is changed or the state gets its nose out of personal relationships, this will not get better.

[–]blrfn231 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

For me it is a degeneracy if single mothers choose to be single or refuse to work through character flaws which force them to stay single and hence actively deprive their child of a father figure/ any father figure, overestimating their own importance to the child while diminishing the paternal role - which the child urgently needs - and hence diminishing the child´s need. Which equals to ignoring and rejecting the child´s need, i.e. the child.

And since single mothers stay single in most cases (otherwise there would not be such a phenomenon), they either actively and by entitlement force their child to grow up without a father or fall victim to their own character which they are not willing to change or are too ignorant to even realize they should change.

That does not relate to single mothers who lost their spouses to death.

[–]Sem_vd_Brink 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah but that is just a portion of maternal figures, and this phenomenon can also appear just because it's a group who doesnt have much and deals with a lot. The post writes the entire single motherhood off as degeneracy which I do not agree with. Aside from that there is a percentage of people who cannot find someone who is good for both the child and her. A mother may not always have time to find men or go on dates. Children take a lot of time and outside of that living alone with one or more children can be expensive. With how the economy is today, there is a high chance that the mother also spends a lot of time working to provide for the child.

There is a lot of factors that go into single motherhood. A lot more then just choice. And some people judge 90% of the demographic for reasons performed by about 20%. I dont think it's fair to judge q lot of mothers from whom you dont even know half of the story...

[–]blrfn231 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I give you that. Single motherhood is difficult and yes, many single moms are cool.

But the title says: celebration of single motherhood. That’s the degeneracy. The fact that it’s being celebrated in society and that every single mom is a heroine just because she is a single mom. And that’s just wrong.

Also: you’re right. I was generalising.

[–]blrfn231 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Gold! Thank you. You have my full support. Your children are/will be blessed!

[–]blrfn231 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I can personally attest to the second argument. Boys need fathers. But also girls need fathers. Children need fathers. It’s a law of nature. Source: Painful personal experience.

[–]Sem_vd_Brink -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, this is false. You felt like you needed a father but that is your own experience and opinion. This is not a hard fact. I know that I always wanted a father but I also know that I am currently at a point in my life where I dont feel I ever needed one because I fared just as well without. I'm not diminishing your experiences and I'm sorry you had to live through life feeling that you needed a father but that is not the truth for everyone, boy, girl, inbetween, doesnt matter.

[–]blrfn231 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The fact that a child needs a paternally mirroring or masculine figure for an ideal self identification is very much a hard fact which has been proven by psychology a century ago.

[–]Sem_vd_Brink -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This also doesnt attest for the portion in the previous commenter's post about needing a father to "handle" the child. I cannot call myself a credible source, but I do know that if as a parent you need a father to "handle" your child, something is wrong in the distribution of power. Sometimes a father is better at, for lack of better term, handling the son because they can relate to the son better or they are more intimidating but for the former case, taking a moment with the child to sort out the distribution of power can prove to go a long way and for the latter, intimidation isnt a good way of raising your child. A child will fare better if they are rewarded for good behaviour, rather then punishing bad behaviour. (I'm not saying that this isnt necessary sometimes but if this has to become your style of raising your child, something is wrong and the child will most likely learn to hide things from you.)

[–]blrfn231 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

For clarification: I wasn’t suggesting an opinion.

I was stating psychological fact.

Not sure how you went from a need for a father figure to intimidation and punishment.

[–]ewalsh666 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

With a boy it makes sense developmentally that it needs a strong male role model more than a female one since 9/10 every authority figure it will have through school will be female, for a daughter it's debatable if a father being present will curtail unwanted behaviours later on but the presence will atleast mitigate the chances of her sleeping with 60 year old for attention

Children are statistically more likely to be abused by their mother than they are by their father Facts are facts

[–]TxGiantGeek 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks for the link. I had a question (don’t know if you’ll know.) regarding the data. Does this adjust for the fact that children are more likely to have a mother in their life than a father? (I know this is the court’s doing, at least a huge reason) I’d love to be able to pull out this statistic when taking / debating people but, it feels a little dishonest if this is only based on total numbers. If it doesn’t, do you know of any other studies which back up what our subreddit says? (I’ve been looking on my own but am having some trouble finding some.)

[–]blrfn231 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

that is so right. if emotional abuse/violence is taken into consideration, women are much more violent and aggressive than men.

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think that children need a mother and a father. Both are very important to the emotional maturity of children, IMO.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why?

[–]blrfn231 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think so too. No emotional bs around.

[–]Ok_Stress_4977 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why do you say that? I don’t think either gender makes a better parent if the child is taken care of.

[–]MRMRising 141 points142 points143 points 4 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Molly and I tried dating men who made less money than we did.

Well, there goes the Gender pay gap argument, good job.

I was soon to be 37 and still single.

Whoa, well past your prime years, forget about a husband, go get a Cat and a bottle of Malbec instead.

Meeks told me that if she gets to her mid-30s and is still unpartnered, she’s going to take on parenting solo.

So single motherhood is a choice then, so men should get reproductive choice as well. Fair is fair. Also, don't write an article a decade from now on how hard it is to be a black single mother, man up and deal with it. Remember, you choose this path, its all on you.

[–]jamesbwbevis 82 points83 points84 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Wonder why it didn't work out with the men with less money 🤔

[–][deleted] 64 points65 points66 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

She had no choice because rich black men (athletes, rappers, actors) almost exclusively marry attractive white women. Lol

[–][deleted] 52 points53 points54 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Rich men also don’t want a career women who are feminist. To them, there’s no point.

[–]Sea2Chi 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Eh... I wouldn't say that, but the ones who do would want someone who is going to be a partner they feel like they're on the same team as. Some rich guys want a trophy wife, in the same way they want a sports car. It's sexy, fun, and you can trade it in for a new model in 10 years. Some want a wife with the same mindset they have who can effectively double their household income.

[–]jamesbwbevis 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's not true but even if it was, she clearly refused to settle for someone with less money

[–]----Poseidon--- 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Black women unfortunately play into the alpha women stereotype rather than actively challenge it like women of other races

[–]blrfn231 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just so fucked up!

Feminists/most women: “We want equality”

Also feminists/most women: “we only date men with a higher income”.

Wtf?!?

[–]Rolaid-Tommassi 17 points18 points19 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She also wrote that she wished she had a man to "subsidise" her lifestyle.

[–]Typhooni 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So a true feminist! ;p

[–]blrfn231 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Most single parents are emotionally incapable of an adult relationship and subconsciously abuse their children as partners and for attention.

[–]mcavvacm 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lol, wait a decade. Won't be longer than a fortnight.

[+][deleted] -13 points-12 points-11 points 4 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

What i don't understand is how can someone cry about feminists imposing unfair standards on men and then just turn around and do the same thing to women? You mentioned as a jOkE that 37 is past her prime years, this logic would never be applied on men, who frequently marry those half their age at ages way above 37. Instead of showing any issue with this sexist belief system that women lose their value past a certain age, you perpetuate it! It shows clearly that for you, and many men in this movement, women are only valued for their youth and beauty, something out of there control. I'm sure i don't have to explain how oppressive that is. Men's right should be about equality of the genders, yet your comment presents its goals as subjugation of women.

“Why aren’t you focusing on [younger women’s] choice to marry older men […]?”

Gold!

Lengedary reply altogether!

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

You can’t change what men and women find attractive in the opposite sex. Attraction is mostly subconscious. It’s not sexist to acknowledge those things and take them for what they are.

Every woman is young at some point. The smart ones realize that’s what men like and lock one down while she still has her youthful beauty. It’s not our fault this 37 year old waited so long.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Then why y'all cry when women don't like short men. It's the hypocrisy for me

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don’t care if woman only want tall guys. If a woman is only attracted to 6’6” men with 6 figure income, 6 pack and, chiseled jawline, charming and assertive personality, she should hold out or stay single rather than settle and ruin a guy’s life.

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The height thing is mostly men pointing out the hypocrisy with women being able to say they only date taller than x but the shitstorm that would happen if a man dared to say he only dated women below a dress size Y.

“Meeks told me that if she gets to her mid-30s and is still unpartnered, she’s going to take on parenting solo. The nuclear family is another script she doesn’t feel the need to abide by.”

Just terrifying. These women do not know the damage they will do to their future children by purposefully being a single mom in the name of “rebelling from the system.” If they aren’t even valuable enough to find a partner, then what makes them think they’ll be ready to have children by themselves?

I feel bad for their children. They shouldn’t even be mothers in the first place.

[–]jamesbwbevis 52 points53 points54 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There is no bigger sign of doom right now than acceptance of this nonsense. Women can do no wrong i guess, everything is 'you go girl'.

Whereas men even just being single are often labeled incels

[–]elebrin 23 points24 points25 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Personally, I worry that these women will have a son and have no idea how to relate to him. If every relationship they have had with a man is broken or fucked up, then their expectations of that relationship are sort of fucked. They are gonna just perpetuate the cycle and create another generation of men on ADHD meds and with depression who don't really know how to operate in society.

[–]Alarming_Draw 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

this is why theres so many white knights now. giving the mother the parental rights and access decades ago resulted in generations of boys growing up with toxic mothers who spent 24 hours in the day bad mouthing all men, leaving the kid growing up to hate all things male because it made his mom unhappy.

Can you imagine someone applying this logic to men?

It would be like assuming all single men don't have value because they can't find a partner.

How offensive would that be?

[–]matrixislife 48 points49 points50 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

It's a regular insult aimed at men, usually by women. You haven't heard of "incel"?

[–]EnvironmentalWar4627 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Agreed. It's exactly like calling single men incels. So why are people upvoting it when its directed at women?

[–]matrixislife 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

No one is actually throwing an insult at anyone above, "femcel" or anything like that. The discussion point is valid, hence upvotes.

[+]EnvironmentalWar4627 -6 points-5 points-4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don't think assuming someone is less valuable because they are single is valid. Man or woman.

[–]matrixislife 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You might want to re-read the comment above instead of [wildly] interpreting it to fit your biases.

[–]UnconventionalXY 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The real worry is instilling in people the idea they aren't of value unless they are doing something positive for society: everyone has intrinsic self worth in the universe through the sheer act of creation; their place has been created and can't be undone as it is a historical fact.

Singleness isn't valued because it means no children to feed the economic growth engine as fodder, raised by the resources of a couple largely at their cost and indoctrinated into the growth engine ideology.

Perhaps you were talking in terms of self-worth which is very different from how society values people.

[–]blrfn231 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Calling men incels is not cool because men cannot do anything about their "unattractivemess" or are so screwed by their mothers that they are not capable of even talking to women.

While single mothers have a choice to stay single or not. And many choose to stay singel voluntarily because they are hyped by society for it. All the while destroying their childrens´souls. Single mothers take from their children. "Incels" don´t take from anyone. They rather gave to their sick mothers all their life and can call themselves happy if they could go no contact with it.

[–]DoppelGangHer88 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I haven't heard of single men taking on solo-parenting en masse the way aging women are.

I think there's a lot of truth there; if a person of either sex fails to figure out how to get along with the opposite sex long enough to establish a situation conducive to a family, what makes you think that that same person would be good at raising another human from birth by themselves? Obviously there's a problem there.

Children need a mother and a father; anything less is sub-optimal.

Yep, not a lot of men doing this. I know of one (older gent) in the Midwest of the US who adopted. He's apparently a great single-father. His kids appear to be happy and well adjusted. I'm assuming he's ecstatic seeing them grow into good people.

He does not have an obvious partner, and seemingly doesn't need one to enact a positive change for future generations! Optimal? I guess not.

But those children were destined to be in the system for their entire lives. That's sub-optimal, and if those children end up with more than living in an orphanage until they're 18(?) but less than two parents in the 1% (that's optimal) then good for everyone.

No mention whatsoever of how children fare without a daddy.

Purely a narcissistic article.

Mom, what’s only fans? Timmy said he found some pictures of you.

[–]blrfn231 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Thank you! So true!

My single mother fucked me up in every way possible. She abused me as her partner. Took my childhood away from me. Overloaded me with her emotional (and very fucked up) bs. Isolated me from family. Forced me to be there for her at any time. Forced my attention to be available to her at any time she chose. While! She! Gave! Nothing! Back! (Except food and shelter - and for that she demands praise and gratitude)

I’m broken beyond repair.

And the best thing: society praises her as a heroine.

I don’t have scientific evidence but I bet single mothers abuse their kids for attention in the very least. Single mothers are not capable of adult relationships and fuck their kids instead. Be that emotionally or physically.

Prove me wrong.

There is a lot to unpack here:

  • Racism towards black men.

  • Complaining about the consequences of her own actions.

  • Ignoring the needs of her kid, who will suffer from the consequences of her actions.

  • Switching over to dating women...and suddenly not having complaints even though the only thing that changed in her situation was the gender of the partner.

  • Saying black men are trapped (?), then immediately blaming them for being trapped.

  • Using racism at all in the calculus of her situation, even though that does not pertain to her situation.

  • Took a swipe at white men by subtly insinuating that they are incels.

  • Imply that single men are inferior because they are single.

  • Imply that childless men are inferior because they are childless.

  • Emphasis on men being more valuable the more money they make.

  • Expectation that men should shoulder the responsibility of her actions. I.e. care for her child unconditionally.

  • Talks about non-existent narrative that claims that black women are undesirable. Posts wrong link as proof.

This article summarized:

My unrealistic standards, narcissistic traits, and bad choices had consequences I don't like. Black men, white men, poor men, incels, patriarchy, sexism, racism, and unrealistic standards (lol) are to blame! To prove that it was everyone's fault but mine, I will post quotes from people telling me it's everyone else's fault but mine.

[–]lostcymbrogi 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I read through the article. You have unpacked it fairly thoroughly. I am surprised at the amount of hate she specifically addressed at black men, especially as she emphasizes she is a black woman. Her view of men within her own culture is particularly vile and weirdly racist towards her own group. I think even a quick read of this article would lead anyone to the belief that she needs psychological help.

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah there wasn’t enough context to be sure but it seems to fit a common pattern of Black American women being frustrated that black American men have the freedom to choose non black women to date and/or marry.

I remember one observation a black man made that white women become more feminine the more masculine he acted but black women responded by being more masculine. For some reason I remember that but haven’t had much luck trying to figure out how much truth there is to it.

[–]LouisdeRouvroy 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's really a puzzling thing to witness. I spent a year in a US highschool in the early 90s, which was half black.

I felt really strange about how many of the black girls would act quite girly towards me the white european exchange student. I could clearly see the difference with how they acted with the other boys and so it felt so fake.

And then I realized that these girls weren't faking being girly with me, the foreigner. They were faking being the tough girls towards the black American boys (and mostly ignoring the white American ones). I was like a neutral zone where they could be all feminine without any social repercussion because I was an exchange student.

The most puzzling thing was that, by far, the most popular black girls (among which the prom queen) were the ones being feminine with ALL the boys. So why did most of these black girls felt the need to act like kweenz while you could clearly see that only the hottest of the hottest could behave like these without immediate negative consequences?

And considering how many of them were all girly at the first opportunity with the foreign exchange student, you could clearly see that this whole tough girl act wasn't their first choice!

I don't know if it's changed since 30 years ago but I've always found this point puzzling and every time I hear American black guys bitching about black girls, I'm like, "Dude, I've seen it myself (although I wasn't on the receiving end of it)", it's just so bizarre.

I'm leaning towards over compensation as the main reason, and it's probably because a lot of these girls just copied their tough act from their single mama and grandma. Those with a complete family are usually less prone to such actions.

Mighty daddy issues...

[–]sexytimeinseattle 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have no problem with someone preferring being single, and finding it empowering. That's basically WGTOW: god speed and god bless.

I do have more issue with a child being willingly raised in a single parent household; it might be fun for the woman to play mommy, but is it so good for the kid to have just one parent instead of two? The mom is only thinking of her entitlement, and not the balanced emotional needs of the kid.

Then ofc:

Took a swipe at white men by subtly insinuating that they are incels.

Imply that single men are inferior because they are single.

Imply that childless men are inferior because they are childless.

Emphasis on men being more valuable the more money they make.

Expectation that men should shoulder the responsibility of her actions. I.e. care for her child unconditionally.

She forgets everything about how empowering being single in the preceding polemic and shames men for following the same path of empowerment that she just laid out.

The world is in the state it is because of the breakdown of the traditional family. A woman cannot raise a boy on her own .

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points33 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Oh, they think they can.... until the boy hits his teens, hormones kick in, and they have no real male role-model to follow. Then they either act out and get in trouble, or become feminized. Very few solid, mentally stable men come out of a female-only environment.

Now 31, Meeks says that once she became single “the whole world opened up” because her dreams were no longer secondary.

She was so close here to identifying the biggest problem (imho), but couldn’t quite grasp it: Women don’t want to be wives anymore.

Being a wife has responsibilities and obligations that sometimes mean your personal hopes and dreams need to be secondary. Refusing them dooms a relationship. Most only want the benefits of having a husband and being married

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When I read that, I was like yeah, being a wife and starting a family requires sacrifice. You can’t have everything in life, you must prioritize.

For example, I’m sure my mother would’ve liked the extra cash, but she instead chose to give up her job to be a homemaker after my younger sister wa born.

“Molly and I tried dating men who made less money than we did. Did we need to be more open-minded? Molly and I went back and forth about only dating Black men… I want long-term financial security; I want to travel more; I want to own a home”

Wow a woman can be openly sexist and bigoted and that’s celebration… well in that case:

I tried dating a overweight women. Do I need to be more open-minded? I went back and forth about only dating hot women… I want long-term beauty; I want to show her off more; I want to have BJs on demand.

Of course these women rely on asset seizure. Either through coupling or courts. That’s how the make single motherhood a great option.

Meeks told me that if she gets to her mid-30s and is still unpartnered, she’s going to take on parenting solo.

Quick question. If she cant find a partner (possibly because no one wants to date her) then who will she find to get her pregnant?

[–]WhereProgressIsMade 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All she’d have to do is hookup on tinder until it happened. She’d have no trouble finding guys for that even if none would want to date her.

Does no one else appreciate the irony of 2 of the last 4 posts being so opposing?

One saying men should be able to financially abort their children creating more single mothers.

The next saying how single mothers are terrible for society and women are selfish degenerates for wanting to have children without a partner.

[–]jamesbwbevis 27 points28 points29 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Those aren't opposing. A single mother is still a single mother whether or not she gets child support.

If women couldn't easily get child support as a single mom, less would choose to be single moms

[+]EnvironmentalWar4627 -19 points-18 points-17 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

If it's selfish to choose to be a single mother, isn't it also selfish to choose for your kid to grow up without a father or support?

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What's wrong with advocating for yourself? I'm a fan of 50/50 but if a man or women is not ready for children they should be able to avoid a lifetime of slavery. That's why we have orphanages.

[–]jamesbwbevis 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The issue is that men deserve some form of rights just like women have. It should be a mutual decision to have a kid in the first place, but its not. So men need some ability to be able to say no.

The fact is many women only go through with babies men don't want because they know they will get cash and prizes

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Well, let’s say we get to a point where men financially aborting children is a respected thing! Things are great, right? But that means if the woman still wants the child, and the man is refusing to be in the child’s life. Is she still a piece of shit? For wanting a good life for the child, definitely if she has good intentions? If we’re so for men aborting responsibility for their child, when the women does want the baby, why do they get called shitty names and insults spewing left and right? It’s only creating more single mothers…. Isn’t that what you guys hate? Or as it seems from this comment section.

[–]jamesbwbevis 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

At that point she should do the right thing and not have the baby. They should only have the baby when both parents want it. And that shouldn't be controversies

[–]Fearless-File-3625 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Unlike feminists and tradcons, people here don't have a single ideology in parenting. People who lean conservative will favour no or minimal abortion rights (men or women). People who lean left will favour all abortion rights to everyone.

I don't know what the ideal solution is but I favour giving rights to men rather than taking from women simply because it's not feasible in current climate. We saw the shitshow that happened in Texas.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

We totally did! And abortion should be legal, because we should be thinking more about the father and mother than the random unborn cells. But you do know some MRAs in this forum believe abortion should be illegal, but men should be able to financially abort? That’s one take, not two different ones. Many people in here have said those things together. Which doesn’t make any sense considering most of those people hate single mothers with every part of their body.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think I have read that take before but that may be because I am not interested in parenting, so I don't read long comment chains about that here.

I can see that take as an provocative response to feminists blaming men and their vasectomy bill in as a response against the Texas law, even though there was an equal split between men and women in favour of that Texas law. In general abortion is a religious issue and not a gender one.
