What is it you mean by "medical gaslighting?"

By almost any legitimate application of what the word actually means? No. I do not think the medical community is willfully lying to women (or men) in order to destabilize their grip on reality.

Are medical professionals making mistakes as a result of various biases they may have? Possibly. But that's not even close to what gaslighting is.

I think it is true that women experience more medical gaslighting, but I don't think that it is due to discrimination against women,or the idea of hegemonic masculinity were medical care is designed for men like feminist would have you believe.I think it Is partially due to the fact that women tend to get medical care more often then men because men work more hours which is explained in this article , and also because diseases that are hard to diagnose are far more common in women then men.I think I will probably make a post about it sometime this week going into more detail.

I'm assuming you mean the idea that women don't receive fair treatment by your health service, if not you may need to be more specific.
Considering the amount of services that are specifically targetted at women, and the hours spent caring for women in health services, especially primary care compared to men, it's unlikely.

I think women's health issues are downplayed simply because they're far more likely to seek help in the first place. Men are treated so expendable that they won't go to the doctor until their fingers are falling off or their organs are liquifying. Makes sense that men's complaints will naturally be treated with more seriousness.

Out of the remaining 8.2 billion, 4.17 billion is for personal projects. So as of such out of the complete 41.7 billion only 4.1 billion is free funding. The rest 37.53 billion is for any research or project that the scientist or researcher choose and show potential breakthrough

If you really think every diesease is researched "men only/woman only" you are wrong. Most of research is for dieseases that affect both men and woman.

I think it's a doctor issue. There's is some evidence that patients have better health outcomes when their doctor is the same race and gender of the patient. One theory to explain this is that doctors take reported symptoms more seriously from patients who share the doctors demographics because of implicit bias.

This means that medical gaslighting was a bigger issue for women when doctors were mostly men. As more women become doctors the negative impact of this implicit bias will be felt more by men and less by women

Though I think men have their own biases against them with medical care. Like the toxic belief among men that seeking medical care is weak, or a sense to downplay symptoms, or the very real fact that men have higher health risks and lower life expectancy pretty much throughout life.

Idk, maybe around some mental issues? Feminists say it was assumed that the standard body for research was male. Same for car crash dolls who were gender less for some times. Don't know if it's all true or if it is some cherry picking tho.

I mean anecdotally I've seen it happen to friends of mine. It was relatively minor but I'd imagine it's one of those things like "who pays for dinner" that isn't a huge deal but is one of those things that when you notice it, it drives you up the wall.

I do think men gaslight ourselves to an extent where we ignore things that we should see a doctor for. In my case, I just feel like I can handle it myself most of the time unless it's freaky pain in the arm that makes me thing heart attack, or an infected wound. Otherwise, when I got gout, I basically didn't do anything about it until I could barely walk.

But I can certainly think of instances where we ARE gaslighted, so calling it mostly a women's issue and calling it "medical misogyny" is looking for the event to fit the narrative. The biggest one is the "man flu", where people talk about how dramatic and whiny men get when we get sick. We've known for a while now that many viruses are more aggressive towards males because the virus reproduces better in women and has a vested interest in keeping the host alive. Plus testosterone makes the immune system more aggressive so it tends to shut us down.

As other people have pointed out, there is a lot of nuance, but to me the real issue is when people post online about it.

We know at least some of the time the doctor must be right, yet that never gets posted in these same forums. People want to be smug and superior to that totally sexist doctor, but when they're wrong they aren't going to announce that, leading to a massive bias in what someone reading online will see.
