What careers/jobs should women have before hopefully being SAHW/SAHM?

I think you should just figure out what you enjoy that is also profitable. Don’t worry about how it makes you “look”. No HVM is going to be intimidated by a career choice. Nursing and other medical-ish degrees might be a good choice if you like the natural sciences.

The problem with relying on a man for any sort of financial security is that you are relying on someone else for your quality of life. Even assuming that you can find someone who will never leave you and always provide for you… accidents can happen and people can die.

I’d love to be a housewife. But if I can’t, I’ll be a software engineer earning 200k+ for myself.

ECE (Early childhood) is crying out for educators right now, and the right centre will pay for your qualifications, or at least part pay. If you turn out to be the right person and do well with working towards qualifying, you could be given a lead teacher or co teacher position within a year as most areas really need educators at all stages.

Be warned though, ECE is a rewarding job but not for the faint hearted. You will be under a lot of scrutiny from head teachers and parents, and the ratios can often be as many as 1 teacher to twelve little kids. Some centres ignore the ratios too, simply because they cannot get the staff. The pay isn't great either. But, you do not generally need qualifications to start as a casual assistant ECE educator.

You could look into working as a Teachers Assistant or TA/EA in the school system, they might train you, or a CCA in a nursing home, they'd train you for that and they need people, or look into other unqualified positions in healthcare - they need lots of people due to covid, but not sure how many are qualified vs unqualified.

If you can play a musical instrument or instruments, set yourself up as a music teacher, or if you can speak a second language, set yourself up to teach language lessons privately or at your local school. Just advertise at your local mall/local businesses with flyers and on Facebook. 15 dollars for a half hour lesson is a good starting rate and you can charge more as you get better. If you are good at another school subject like maths or science etc, you could offer after school tutoring in that. You would however need resources and lesson plans for this.

You could get some experience teaching ESL (English as a second language) as a volunteer, and then try to set yourself up professionally. How easy it is depends on your area, but if you are good and you live in an area with a big immigrant community, you could do that.

Edit about ESL: There are online ESL companies out there, but most of them pay very little after paycuts, and nowadays it's probably comparative to what you'd earn working at McDonalds if you live in the US. Somewhere like ITalki or Cambly or ITutorGroup can still be good to get general experience. However the kids companies like Palfish and VIPKid these days don't pay anywhere near as well as they used to, so I would only look at them now if you are already a SAHM or cannot get a job far from home and really need the extra cash. I would volunteer to build up experience.

You could offer nannying or babysitting, a lot of families do need childcare, or open a dayhome if you have a suitable space and could afford the costs. Do a first aid kit.

If you live in an area that is good for tips, do waitressing. Don't bother with this if the people in your area don't tip well.

You could do Summer camp in the summer, or coach sports or gym if you like that. If your area has a ski hill, you could work there.

You should NOT join an MLM like ItWorks, HerbalLife, BeautyCounter, Scentsy, LulaRoe, etc, unless you absolutely love love love the products and are only joining to get the consultant discount.

While you need to expand your social circle to include hvm you don’t need to go into a career around them. There’s many ways to broaden your social circle like volunteering, church/place of worship, meetups, religious singles events, social events, etc. I’ve met many hvm at these events. Also go to more affluent single areas to do this. Join fitness classes/gyms in these areas. While nursing is in high demand and is affordable for education there’s a huge emotional toll with it. Med tech jobs like ultrasound or ekg are also options. Electricians or tradesmen who own a company often are under-looked yet make good $.

To find my fiancé I moved to a different state. And from there I put myself in places a man I’d be into goes. I was waitressing (and taking college courses) but the customers weren’t the type of men I wanted to date so I switched restaurants. I went to a religious mom and pop pizza place. I figured if he didn’t go here maybe his relatives did and would set us. The owners friend came in one day and he fell in love at first sight. He was too shy the first day so he came back the next day to ask me out. Tldr: sometimes you have to think backwards to get your goal. Where are the men you’re into at?

I am a massage therapist. Schooling was affordable and I made back in one year what I paid for it. Downsides- most jobs don’t offer benefits.

Nursing could be a good career with little or no debt since you can become an RN with an associates degree from a community college.. definitely what I wish I would have done. Then you can meet some handsome doctors :) plus male nurses who can make 100k plus if they pursue nurse practitioner careers.

Honestly not RP advice.

But job advice in general. Get a trade.

A female electrician or carpenter will earn 6 figures easily. Can run your own business. Can renovate investment property as a hobby. Can fix things around the house while husband earns 200k in a suit. Can genuinely take care of the "home" including hiring and dealing with trades as you know what they are talking/BSing about.

You don’t have to go to school to meet HVM but honestly that is where a lot of them are. That is where I met mine. You could perhaps try being a barista at a place where high income people go. Be social, male female friends, maybe get introduced to a HVM.

You were raised by a stay-at-home mom but you're on the internet asking how to become a stay-at-home mom? Why have you not talked to your father and ask him to guide you to men that have the same morals values and outlook on life as he does since he's the one who took care of your mother. Cuz men like that flock together. At whatever career field he's in country clubs golf courses and such they hang out together. And I'm sure the men that he hangs out with also have sons and those men probably raise their sons to be like them and it's a possibility that they would be looking for women that were raised to be stay at home moms and wives like your mother. Go talk to your father and ask him for his guidance.

You don’t have to have the career, but make an effort to go to places where you meet HVM.

Why do HVM marry career women (even if the woman just becomes a SAHM)? Because the career woman is the most readily available woman. It’s who he comes into contact with the most.

His workplace, his gym, the restaurants he frequents, the social circle he has, all of these things will be filled with people who are also high value and who make money. The women in these groups likely have the same demographic makeup then as the men do.

Do you need to get an education and career to hang around in those circles? No, not at all. Especially if you are 22 and haven’t started a degree yet, it takes a while so I’m not sure it’d be worth the time investment at this point.

Just focus on getting yourself into those circles if you can. If there is a guy you like or have been into, think about the types of places he goes to and who he associates with. Then make sure you are doing those same things, and hopefully you will meet other men like him as you do that.

Wanting a husband you love, who earns enough to support a family is "wanting traditional lifestyle". Wanting a "high earner" is being a gold digger. Just fyi I was put off by your initial statement and men who earn a lot of money are often chased by women because of their money and can feel this "I-swear-I'm-not-a-gold-digger" energy. That alone might make them bail.

Also they tend to be very ambitious, hardworking and disciplined. They might look for a wife who resembles them more or less, because we tend to appreciate in others what we strive for in ourselves. Not to necessarily outclass them and be the man, but just enough to earn their respect. If you've no higher education AND no deep/admirable interests, he might be bored by you and consider you dull/shallow. Lastly marriage is about love and you have to click with a man to be proposed to. There is more to that click than education, so you just might not have found anyone for you yet and that's just how dating goes. There is no secret formula past basic attractiveness requirements like weight, hygiene, manners, etc.

What do you like to do? What are your hobbies and skills? I’d try and tap into that, if possible. You could try volunteering with an organization, I know a number of vols who turned into staff at my organization.

Also, if you want a HVM, you’re going to have to put yourself in situations/contexts where they are as well. If all you do is spend time at home and church, you should be working your church network hard to find a good guy, otherwise you should branch out and try new things.

I think education is good in general, and it’s good to have skills to support yourself. Being educated and having passions is attractive. You could get an AA in childhood development and work at a preschool or be a fundraiser for a cause you care about. You could nanny. You could sell baked goods/crafts at a farmer’s market or on Etsy. You could tailor people’s clothes/do visible mending. There’s lots of things that fit your interests that you could do.

Absolutely not. Men DO NOT CARE about your career at all, besides what use would all that student debt be if your goal is to be a SAHM. Totally pointless. Also, you don’t have to go to college to be intelligent. Don’t be lazy though, you should have a job before you get married so that you can pay for your own stuff without relying on anyone. Trade schools are a great option. Before I became a housewife I was a midwife, and before that I was a massage therapist.

There’s no guarantee that you find a man who makes 200 K a year, or even 100 K a year. There’s no guarantee that you don’t Find this man, Marry him, and he passes away. I guess what I’m getting at is there are no guarantees and you need to have a back up plan. That doesn’t have to be college, but you should do some soul-searching about what you are interested in. I was a full time nanny for four years before I completed my Masters program and it was a good job, there are plenty of things you can do without college that you may enjoy but figure out what you actually enjoy not what you think is going to make you look good or anything else. I promise you that anyway you can explore your self and understand who you are is going to help you in attracting a man regardless of if you keep the job or not after.

Try dental assisting. I was hired with no experience and they paid for my certifications. I made decent money and got all my teeth fixed and Invisalign for free. I’m a housewife now, but I have great teeth.

I just want to share that going to college does not automatically mean going into debt. That is a HUGE misconception. U can get scholarships, grants, and fasfa. You don’t have to be insanely or even remotely smart to win scholarships. I would suggest anyone in this subreddit… if u want to go to college, start off with community college first, sign up for fasfa, stay in-state, or (if ur low income) try ur best to get into an Ivy League school. Those are good ways to keep ur costs low and avoid debt.

Well, the good news: Time is (for now) on your side. Also this: "That law degree looks so sexy on you!" - said No Man Ever.

I never went to college mainly because I did not want the debt nor a career.

The first one makes perfect sense. The second one you need to think about a bit. Ofc most people don't have "careers". Most people have jobs. I knew a couple where the husband worked in a white collar job and the wife worked retail at some store she liked, in order to have a little $, do smth with her time, and get the rather generous employee discount on things she was going to buy anyway. Once she got pregnant with their first, she quit and hasn't worked outside of the home since, AFAIK.

So what have you been doing from HS to now?

but I really want to marry a high income earner and it seems that looks and traditional skills/views will not be enough for get me that man because I don't have a high income myself.

High income earner here. In general, we do not care what your income is. We want you to be sunny, sexy and submissive. You can substitute "agreeable" in for that last one. The guy that you are after works in either a super boring job or a high stress job. Something that they have to pay up to get people to do. He wants to come home to an oasis.

No. Not at all. The guy you want already knows you're not equal.

Let's wargame things out for you:

So first, do you live in an areas where guys make $200K+ Are those guys single? Ex. In my little 'burg, there weren't a lot of six figure guys and those guys tended to be married. There was also a flaming homo who inherited an insurance agency from his dad. He had an 8-figure net worth when he died, but ofc no wife. I used to joke that I became the most eligible bachelor in town the moment my front tires hit the offramp.

You need to figure out where your target market is and go out and find them.

Next, what do you bring to the table? Remember how I said "Sunny, sexy and submissive"? Ok good. Basically, you want to be his "executive assistant" at home, running the household, etc. Ex. a childhood friend of mine married a guy who went on to be MEGA-successful. 7 figure income, high net worth. She's also very bright (speaks four languages), and basically runs their households - flat in NYC, flat in London, main house and a ski house. She handles arranging the maintenance thereof (really just scheduling contractors/lawn care/pool guy/whatever), plus insurance (I only know about this because I was visiting and she needed help on this, so she called their customer service line, gave all the passwords/whatever and then said "I'm going to put my husband on the line" and handed me the phone. I have relevant experience, so I took it from there.) She also pays the bills (he puts $$$ into an account that she uses to pay their credit cards, property taxes, etc.) Also, be sure to get at least some term life on him. If he dies, you can't be stuck out in the cold, together with any progeny.

Next, do everything you can do to improve your appearance. As my Slavic granny would say "Men love with their eyes." We can literally do everything for ourselves besides "sex and babies." Take a look outside. Everything you see was built by men. Everything. Houses, roads, cars, everything. So back to sex and babies. Be as attractive as you can be. Keep everything "Right, Tight and In The Light." Also be willing to produce and care for children, bc the guy you are looking for most likely wants them. I realize as a tradcon, you are likely completely down with this but it's important to mention.

Also, men tend to make more $ as we get older. Some women dig older men, and if that's you, then you can look for a more "finished product". The good news is, you're young. If you're young and attractive and want to submit, there will be guys who will think you are a gift from heaven.

I knew that I wanted to be a sahm and homeschool so I took some ece classes in college and learned as much as I could about child development as well as early childhood education. I’m now a homeschooling sahm, but I wish I also spent time studying business. I feel like that could have been beneficial to me running a household.
