Man and women are fundamentally different, so there are espiecally on that field not many things that are true for man and women but opposites.

Every single woman on this thread is telling you that you are wrong. Being assertive isn't the same thing as acting like an abusive asshole towards your partner. You need professional help. Even your examples are crazy. But what if a boy is trying to light your daughter's hair on fire? What if you are being sexually assaulted? Do you want your boyfriend to be nice? Yes but in marriage there are children so just run away and destroy their live completely is pretty selfish.

I want to be a higher earner because, if my husband abuses, I want to do my duty as their mother and get them out of that situation.

My mom “made it work” with my dad, and I can’t tell you how hard it was for my sister and I to grow up watching her be abused by him. My sister has decided not marry and not have kids because of it. I want to raise a family, but I will walk if he abuses or disrespects me; it’s not healthy for kids to grow up watching one of their parents abuse the other. As long as he’s a good father to them, I’ll seek split custody and co-parent. But I don’t want my kids to think it’s OK for their spouse to abuse them. My sister has sworn off of marriage, dating and having kids because of our dad.

I think my mom staying with an abusive man did more damage than leaving ever could have.

You can't just use a very ambigious word like "abuse" that is a wide range from harmless things to horrific things.

That she stayed implies it wasn't on the completely horrible side. if she gone to the kitchen each morning with a blue eye she likely would not stayed.

And I don't say look away if something happens, but "make it work" and make it work doesn't mean take everything, it can mean go to therapy call police if something criminal happend etc.

The abuse was that bad. But she couldn’t afford to raise us alone, so she stayed and they divorced once we were both adults. I can tell you divorcing my dad would have been better for my sister and I. No child should have to grow up watching one of their parents be abused.

He refused to go to therapy, and our next door neighbour was a cop. He checked on us periodically, but he never intervened during the abuse. The cops I’ve worked with told me about his track record when I talked to them years later - he wasn’t transferred to my town because he was a GOOD cop.

According to both my mom and my aunt (my dad’s sister), he wasn’t like this when he was younger. But untreated mental illness can become severe with age, especially if you’re an alcoholic.

My sister IS in therapy and I’m on a waiting list to start in a few months. I’m not blaming my dad for mental issues; but seeing him abuse my mom taught me that I need a high earning career. So, that I can support my family if my husband becomes disabled, dies, or something. As a spouse and mother, both of us need high earning potential and our investments to be prepared to support the family or myself and my kids (if he dies and I’m the surviving spouse). My boyfriend wants me to have a career for the same reason.

I’m American in the Midwest. Usually, in my experience, police sided with the husband because: a. He had proof. b. Have you seen someone spit at people before? I have, and they often combative and keep trying to spit (usually they end up wearing a “beekeeper hat” over their head). Usually these people react combatively in front of the police. So, if the officer shows up and can see that she is unstable, evidence she has assaulted her husband, the police took the husband’s side. People that act like your example either have untreated mental health issues, they’re on drugs, or both.

I agree that the court system and society needs to treat female abusers as harshly as we do male abusers. Frankly, I’m disgusted with Hollywood’s silence regarding the Depp v Heard case. She should be charged, face prison time, and be blacklisted from Hollywood.

Of course police cided with your dad when he was a cop, but that is not the norm. The spitting was a example.

Engaging with mothers doesn't tell you how they were with their partner before children. That is dependent on their individual relationships. You could only compare those mothers behaviors to how they engaged with their partner before children, not compared to random single women. Yes and the question would be how to end it from the male standpoint, without children without living together without marriage it's easy point to the door or try the "shut the fuck up" look if she can respect you if not go away block her number and move on.

But in a marriage / cohabitation / children she has to respect you and see you as the leader, if she acts out and don't respect your call to shut the fuck down then she can't love you, if a women looses respect for you she looses love love for you.

Now if the shut the fuck up leads to more escalation I would not try to repeat it, but try to prepere yourself for divorce, try to gather some evidence, maybe look how you can manage your finances like gift money to your mother if you trust her or whatever legally is possible, maybe go to a lawyer... But the chances for finding some sort of equal compromise or talk it out in a way that you are not the leader and authority I think is very slim.

If my husband is wrong, then he better be a REAL MAN and take ownership - especially in front of our kids. If we have a son, my son will be taught to respect both of us, and he will learn that real men take ownership of their mistakes. It’s not emasculating for their wife to call them out. I wouldn’t hit my boyfriend in an argument. We’ve had plenty of heated arguments, and I have never felt like hitting him. When did I react falsely? I said that if I saw a woman assault her husband, I would call the police on her if he wouldn’t. Then I explained I have seen police bring abusive girlfriends/wives to the hospital for a psych evaluation, and the police worked WITH the husband in situations where he had evidence (usually minor facial injuries or something). I have literally seen police side with the man in domestic abuse situations.

Psychopaths target vulnerable women. They are charming enough to get to know these women enough, and take advantage of their weaknesses to take control. They limit the woman’s contact with their friends and family - isolating her will make her easier to control. It’s not magic - this is emotional and mental manipulation/programming. This is also why women stay with abusive men. In fact, women can and have preyed on men in this way, too. The Depp vs Heard case is one example of this a woman domestically abusing her husband.

I’m not saying I would leave him if he gets upset over something minor. But men who think it’s OK shriek at their wife, even when he is in the wrong, and she’s holding him accountable - emasculate themselves by lashing out at their wife. Well he outearns you already so you don't need to leave him, you already have the good bet, sure there is always more and I would need more details your age his income to say more your weight etc...

But yes it seems you picked a good man catch him. You peek first in sexual market value he later, his peak is at 35-45 somewhere, assuming he does anything with his live, your main worth comes from your looks and your mental health that goes down with your body count (baggage).

Now sure he would have to ask you for marriage so you seem to do all right just cut out this "unacceptable" behaviours, don't let him pay for your fathers or mothers behaviours, it's not fair, and if he goes away it hurts you, too if not more than him.

Don't try to change him he is pretty good as he is and so why this need to argue with him? You will not get mister perfect. And accept him as the household leader, or you will in the long run ruin that relationship.

Heck even if I take you by your word, you say that it dramatised you and your sister worse that your father was in the house, so I would never marry or have a ltr with a women without a dad, because I know they willi nilly with the smallest problems will divorce, so if you according to yourself are more damaged than without a dad, nobody should marry you, so do the therapy and then maybe it makes sense.

I don't claim to be perfect, I also had and have issues, but I had a not perfect but intact parent house with both parents. But yes maybe the man and the possibility of him not performing well or dying is not the main problem but you.

Man risk a lot with marriages so because the legal system is sexist, so why should any man risk to marry a women without father or in your case similar solution with other daddy issues? Either do therapy or tell your boy friend? Run!

I don't want to be condescending, but marriage is really a ruth deal for man I would even argue just don't do it in general but with such big red flags... and you might destroy it because of your history and then blame your man for it... It's not that most women that do divorce accept that they did it, it's always the mans fault, if we assume same amout of "not good people" on both sides in 50% of the cases it would be womens fault and in 50% mans, but if you ask women it's always 100% mens fault, so we can't trust their accessment.

I wasn’t traumatised by my father living in the house. It was because he verbally and physically abused us.

I’m not going to divorce willy nilly. But I learned spouses that think it’s OK to speak disrespectfully to you, or “to be cruel to their woman” as you put it - that is verbal abuse, and I will leave my husband for that. I will not stay and teach my kids to tolerate a spouse that verbally abuses them. I will request shared custody and co-parent with him. I will not tolerate any abuse in a spouse. If that’s divorcing “willy-nilly” to you, then I’m sorry you feel that way.

I agree that divorce court favours women and that family court in general needs serious reform. The system is too easily abused by women as is.

I already said I’m on a waitlist to start therapy. There’s not a lot of therapists in my area, and I’ll start in two or three months. I’m aware of my issues, but thank you for your concern :)

You think it's ok to shout at him but are hyper sensitive when the man does "verbally abuse" you. Or you think that is what happens. From your past I get it, but just because I understand why it happens doesn't make it ok.

You are the women, yes we can't completly turn back the clock but still there was a good reason for feminity to be useful, if nothing else it attracts man besides looks that is the set of personality or behaviour traits that man like:

And it's not only what man like, but if they get that they are more motivated and more creative they feel better and stronger to conquer the world, they feel more self confident etc.

You have 1 master it can be your boss / if you have a business your customers or your husband. I use very extreme words, but if you have picked a good man in a maybe less explive way give it a try, it's not a fight if you can give him he will give it to you multiple times back. See him as the price, women tend to have a behaviour this days like it would be helthy for men. Just because your mum commited to a bad dude (independent if it was his fault or not because of mental health) doesn't mean that commitment is always bad, and yes I don't say stay in any case, just most relationship ends just because of women earns more maybe get a promotion and the man can't go up with or other financial changes or cheating, and both in a ltr without children maybe is ok, but not with marriage and children.

No, it’s not OK for me to shout. That’s why when I did, my I apologized to him - it was wrong - after our 30 minute break.

I’m not hyper sensitive to being shouted at. But you’ve said before that men should respond to arguments by aggressively shrieking at their wives. Escalating an argument is not healthy, hence using deescalation techniques such as going to different rooms until we calm down. I will not stay with men that thinks it’s acceptable to aggressively shout down their wife because of an argument. It’s wrong and promotes unhealthy behavior in the relationship.

I can be feminine and have a career. Just as a SAHD can be masculine.

I don’t have a master. My employer will be paying me for the skills and knowledge I will have as an NP, but they won’t own me. If better opportunities come along and I become dissatisfied with my employer, I will leave for the better offer.

If my husband becomes insecure over me making more, then he’s free to leave. I won’t force him to stay with me if I make him unhappy.

Women aren’t clueless how to be wives or mothers, their expectations of what that means has just shifted.

They have no idea how to be one, otherwise they wouldn't make the decisions they do at the detriment of their children. Their "expectations shifting" shows they don't have any idea, nor any desire to be one. Women are absolutely clueless when having a child. They need 40 "for dummies" books to figure out how to breast feed. They never learned, nor were taught, how to parent, because in this day and age, being a mother is akin to slavery.

I have no expectations for mothers, I just notice their abject failures in that department, and societal ignorance as to how to mother nor any desire to be one. Not really. It's more like something that just happens and you "figure it out", because no one started their life with that goal.

It's perfectly ok, I certainly don't care, but it's still ignorance and having no idea how to be one.

If it'll make you feel better, males are really shown to be fathers, what with almost no fathers being in the home or having any meaningful connection with their children.

And of course women are now choosing not to have children, we are some of the first generations to have a choice.

And I'm all for that, and those people shouldn't have children if they don't want them. They'd be highly ineffective parents.

Yes because they neither desire, nor know, how to be mothers. Women who want to be mothers in the real sense (not made up hobbyists) don't have depression and loneliness.

I am recognizing it. Women are these days utterly clueless to be mothers and parents. They aren't educated in it, they see no examples of it, and it's disincentivized by certain hate groups, something to be shamed for wanting, and humiliating to be.

No wonder it's depressing. Why would anyone be happy with something they hate and are forced to do against their will? It's not a life goal or something to aspire to.
