Parental rights have always been a central part of the MRM. We advocate for paper abortion. We may disagree on whether one should be able to physically remove a fetus and whether that fetus should be considered a human with innate rights, but we all agree that parenthood should be a choice.

Women have always had this choice. Aside from abortive rights, they also have Safe Harbor laws that allow them to forfeit the child to the state. They are not required to disclose information about the father, which means that even if the father would have opted to raise the child, they have no say in the issue. Women have the ability to make the decision for themselves - only considering their own well-being.

Yet, this morning I'm seeing posts on every conceivable sub showing how SCOTUS deferring abortion to state's rights harms EVERYONE. Here is an example from a sub centered on worker's rights. If you know where the post is, please don't brigade.

The Supreme Court just voted to overturning our rights to an abortion and we should be mad. In a country that offers no maternity leave, no affordable healthcare and as a whole doesn't offer affordable birth control this is a way for them to keep us in line.

Pregnancies are not only dangerous and life altering but expensive, birthing babies is expensive, raising children is expensive and most importantly daycare is unaffordable and costs as much as what most people bring home. This forces us to take jobs that work with having children or having one person stay home. A lot of families have to strategically stay below the poverty line to get the benefits they need because right above that line it's exponentially more expensive.

So all of a fucking sudden this is a problem?! Been true of men for decades, but now you want to say something about how forced parenthood keeps people enslaved?! And still nothing about men being forced to pay child support for kids that AREN'T THEIRS.

I have reluctantly supported abortive rights so far hoping that one day men would have the same. But I'm so furious about the utter lack of empathy for men that I'm ready to just say "fuck it. No one gets rights then."

I anticipate that this will be a major issue with midterm elections. Liberals will spit venom at everyone in earshot. I usually side with them because I feel they are better at taking care of the poor and vulnerable in society. This time, I don't know. There's this underlying prejudice with that party that drives them to care about everyone but men. And I'm kinda fed up with it.
