This is very sad to read. I don't know of one woman who has committed suicide but know of many men.

To be a man in a relationship is to shut up and speak when spoken to. If you have an opinion woman don't agree with they will yell, scream and manipulate the conversation. So you have a couple of choices 1) shut up and don't speak anymore. 2) Try and get the conversation back on track about the original point. This though will be almost impossible. 3) Submit and apologise as its just not worth the drama. Now throw equal rights and feminism into the equation. And God Help you if you are not Keeping up with the Joneses financially. Throw in Parental Alienation, Gaslighting and all the other bullshit woman do and I think it all just gets too much for some men.

Both but mostly ignored if this was the other way round and it was women who are making up 80% of the suicide rate it would be insane the amount of attention that would get it would have an entire month dedicated to it there would be a special colour for that particular month and it would just be insane the amount of money we would put into that but because it's men making up 80% of suicides it's gone unnoticed but mostly ignored

In a mild defense, publicising suicides increases the incidence. Almost every country has a "no reporting on suicides" policy in their media to reduce the total amount of them that happens.

But that in itself assumes that suicide is an unstoppable fact of life that doesn't have treatable causes. If we publicised it more, we may get some more focus on the causes and be able to reduce the number of people who want to commit suicide.

In the UK we have movember which is a literal month dedicated to men's health and there is a lot of challenge around mental health.

Definitely doesn't feel like a non-issue.

It's being talked around and used as political ammunition. Gun-related deaths, talks of 'toxic masculinity', further excuses to give children completely to the mother, etc.

Because those are by definition not successful men, the target audience for 99% of media is women, and women literally don't see men outside the top 10% in any given metric.

It's why there is such cognitive dissonance when someone like Robin Williams suicides.

Men have higher rates of suicide because they are forced to push their feelings down and pretend they are unfeeling machines, we've all heard "men don't cry". Etc. When you make healthy expressions of emotion impossible, unhealthy forms of expression qre inevitable. That's why men commit suicide. That's why men become mass shooters. Most of you will agree with all of this.

This is toxic masculinity. I.E. masculinity that is literally toxic and harmful to everyone, including men. The media does talk about it, but MRAs have been trained to have a pavlovian anger response whenever they hear the words toxic masculinity.

As a man I always wondered why every male suicide rate argument almost always relies on the statistical fact that suicide is less prevalent in women along with other false equivalencies; like it’s directly their fault and it’s exclusively women who are responsible for this saddening metric? And why it’s never the dangerous careers to fill the pockets of other men, men’s ultra toxic definitions of “manliness”, all the dangerous stereotypes of a ‘’man” and all the other countless things created by men themselves that typically are what more heavily influence men’s decision to destroy themselves in todays society?

just thought i would share what i know, women attempt suicide more often but men more often succeed in their attempt; this has been boiled down to methods where men will typically use a firearm but a woman may go for something like and overdose

I have a long education history in social issues and this is talked to death in it.

I think women are more likely to be ok with talking about their problems than men as there is not as much stigma for women, which is why most mental health interventions tend to help women more. That is starting to change which is a good thing.
