I think a masculine man has confidence. He is a problem solver. He is accountable, responsible, and reliable. He is physically and emotionally strong. He will do for others even at his own cost. He carries those that are weaker than him when they need him to. He is a guardian and protector and will always walk toward a problem. He has no fear of speaking up. He acts despite being afraid at times. He spends his days thinking about how to make life easier for those that he loves. He is not afraid to get busted knuckles l, get cut, of get beat up. He understands that being a good provider is important. He is always trying to learn and better himself. He is ok with putting a woman in her place if the situation requires it. He is fiercely independent

An unmasculine man is dependent. He relies on parents or a significant other. He plays video games and gets absorbed with escaping reality. He is afraid of challenging himself. He is afraid of pain. He does not like getting hurt, doing hard work, or sweating. He is unmotivated and has few goals.

I don’t really believe in gender essentialism. Most women do want to be protected, though, so I consider the ability to make one’s partner feel protected a fairly essential part of masculinity, even if one’s partner is not a man at all.

weak/unmasculine are not 1:1 imo.

there are super masculine men who are weak deep down inside because they are alway insecure about everything and raging at the world to cope. drive a sports car, have muscules, brag about their dick and their sex life to an almost suspicious extent (who are you trying to convince?) - then fly into a rage and beat their gf because she asked him to see a doctor about his impotence.

then there are super unmasculine men who DGAF and stay at home all day, smoke week, play vidya, avoid hard work, and yet live their best lives and aren't effected by the opinions of the sheep breaking their backs at 9-5 jobs to pay for his welfare check. you call him a manchild but who is really winning?

there's a reason the man's man's man ruling the roost is longer a thing, socially, culturally or politically. those times ended. im a little too hard on men in this post but whatever. i dislike the usual circlejerk of "masculine=good" or "feminine=good" that comes up in these discussion. they are not good, the majority of humans are not hot shit, nor are their gendered ideals they try to live up to.

real creativity, freedom and cool factor are not to be found in the stuffy, millenia-old ideas about penised and vagina'd humans and how they should act.

I've been fortunate enough to have been brought up with traditional gender parents and grandparents. My grandfather who I would say is traditional masculine, builder and a fireman. A very gentle friendly man that built and shaped his life. At the same time he would sort things that needed to be sorted. Including knocking down a door.

When i was a boy I remember complaining about something and he said. U have nothing to complain about. When I was 8 I had to walk with my brother 250km 6days to fetch a sack of potatoes in a military zone or my family would starve. (Holland ww2). Etc etc. He had a scar from an ss soldier that hit him across the head with his bayonet. I never complained again.

His last word to my grand mother. I'm sorry I have to go now. People that dont believe the feminist lies know he was leaving his duty to his dependants. Unfortunately in modern society this type of man is no longer a valued.

I would say a man in modern times is moving towards the Andre Tait archetype. Agresive, emotional and self serving.
