I believe most of us have had similar experiences with having an erection at an inconvenient time, like presentations, while in public or swimming. It's an experience most men, especially teenage boys can relate to. However, have we ever asked ourselves why?

In recent times, I've seen people advocating for people to desexualize things like hard nipples, shoulders etc. Many arguments are presented, for example, hard nipples do not mean sexual arousal, and people have shoulders, so you're going to see them. However, there's one thing all these have in common, they're all made by women, advocating for well, only women. That in and of itself isn't a bad thing, but maybe we should advocate for ourselves too.

Erections are not sexual. They can be caused by anything from well, sexual arousal to pretty much french-fries or trees. Men have penises, and we have erections. It's normal and it's not sexual, so why should we have to hide it? Making erections normal will also promote understanding of the male body. I have seen things like "If he was raped then why did he get hard?" used as an excuse, and people actually agreeing to those things. Doing this would actually aid in problems like these.

In all things, this is a very small issue compared to other issues we face, but I feel like it needs to be heard, nevertheless.
