Covid really messed up society the past few years so I feel like we need at least 2 or 3 more years to pass before we get a handle on “normal trend” for sexual activity.

The problem with trying to question the GSS data is that there is other data from other countries purportedly saying the same thing. In the UK a large poll was done of sexual behaviours of university students.

The first post cites a Telegraph article which is behind paywall. Tbh there really needs to be more data on this topic, it's also unsurprising that the only UK based publication covering it with any seriousness are right leaning ones like the Telegraph. There needs to be a serious conversation on why a lot of the cultural expectations aren't working for young people. Things are not fine, they are furthest from fine and any bluepilled clown trying to pretend as if they are really needs a goddamn lobotomy.

This debate reminds me of where the immigration debate was in Europe back in 2013-2015. Back then, to even imply that it was something that European governments needed to get a hold of, you were accused of being a bigot. Then you have the 2015 Syrian migrant crisis and a wave of populist, far right sentiment sweep across the continent. So much so it actually fractures the EU with the UK exiting and Russia resurgent as an influence in the Baltic region a.s beyond largely through propaganda. Eventually you get to where you are today where you incompetent right wing panderers able to continue to win elections because no one knows how to deal with thousands of migrants crossing (and dying) in the Channel.

The exact same thing is going to happen here. In fact, its already happened. The rise of guys like Andrew Tate is exactly what happens when these concerns aren't taken seriously.

Basically numbering peoples that have one night of sex a year with someone that plow their fields every week.

Working in a methodology already failed won't be a good argument just because you got the results you wanted.

Men after age 25 were always doing much better than men below 25. The high sexlessness statistic that is often cited from the 2018 survey is for men 25 and below, I believe.

Many older men are either late bloomers, or “betas” finally getting settled for, if one believes TRP.

As you said, I believe that COVID has a lot to do with the drop in young women’s sexual activity. Sex is more of a necessity for men, so I’m guessing that any man who could tried to seek it out even during COVID.

So basically, I don’t think that the 2018 data are misleading. Younger men struggle to find sexual partners compared to younger women. Older men do not struggle so much, which was the case even in 2018.

This study defines someone as sexless if he had no sex in a year. Do you think it’s a reasonable definition? Do you think having sex two times a year is an amazing sexual life rather than sexlessness? The researchers could’ve asked “what’s amount of sex you have from amount of sex you want” or something along these lines.

Chads and 80/20 are about the distribution of partners and it’s inequality. This study says nothing about number of partners or sexual encounters, so it’s not connected to inequality. You cannot say “82% of men had sex at least once this year, so there is no inequality between men in terms of amount of sex they get”.

Also, it reads from your post that you think chads and 80/20 are nonsense. (It interesting why). But there are couple of links which probably can persuade you in the opposite.

And? That statistic doesn't matter. Women can get sex whenever they want, that's the difference. They aren't having sex by choice. It is an irrefutable scientific fact that men have higher libidos on average in large part due to the difference in androgen levels.

Why is it so difficult for people to grasp that 80/20 isn't about necessarily sex. 80/20 means 80% of the women are going for the top 20% of men. It says nothing in regards to whether or not those women are successful or having sex with those men.

The data you provided and your rationale does absolutely nothing to disprove it. Hypergamy is a social science term that's been studied in a myriad of peer reviewed scientific journal.

While covid and women's higher tendency to avoid risks may play a large role in their increase, the fact that men's rate dropped so much at the same time is interesting.

Are there no doubts about, cough, data quality?

Let alone that this is self-reported. (I particularly love surveys of self-reported penis sizes)

I think this casts heavy doubt on the 'chad harems' narrative and of course the '80:20' meme.

80/20 is about want, not how things play out. Nobody but a complete idiot thinks only 20 percent of men are having sex at all, let alone only the top 20.

Second. Looking at the 2021 GSS data for partner counts, anything above 2 shows men vastly outnumbering women. More and more so with every increase in count. So ....what was that about the Chad harems?

If this is true, this is an almost exact reversal of the 2018 data, which found 28% of men and 18% of women not having sex. This is pretty much vice versa, and that in itself is interesting.
