This affects all parties in the current dating sphere but especially young professionals. Spending your money, hours of working time and your personal time to plan and spend time with a prospective partner puts a very high expectation on the other party and thus a high opportunity cost. At this point in life smart young professionals are getting their shit together and not spending money.

Essentially they have to provide more value per minute than the cost. A lot of smart individuals are buckling down and saving money for these years just to survive and taking someone out regularly will make a dent on the money and care that they have to give themselves. Dating costs money

Meeting people from work and volunteering is a common suggestion that works because it is free to get to know the person. This is also why dating was easy in college because hooking ups super cheap. When you have to spend money on each other those initial times of seeing someone your are asking a lot. Unfortunately capitalism has not left the room for many cheap ways to socialize and the majority of hobbies are male dominated. (Honestly why is this? Outside of shopping and grandparent hobbies its all male dominated.)

When i go to a concert or bar or festival there are a few crowds of people. Younger than us is college goers spending their student loans. Older is the 35+ year olds who are finally getting that disposable income. People my age? The few that are out are for a special birthday party, the rest are at home.

It would be great if women participated in more hobbies and tried to take them back from being male dominated.

  • Also wanna say N Counts are dumb. Anyone who cares is insecure.
