I don't think that they have one. It's like asking what effect does prostitution have on dating. It's a small minority of women doing those things and most of them are probably in relationships.

The vast majority of women aren’t on OnlyFans, aren’t selling their lingerie, don’t get CashApp or Amazon gifts for no reason from random men, and aren’t fundraising for new boobs.

The minority that do are primarily those who seek that kind of platform and develop that sort of fan base for an income. They aren’t dating their fans or customers; they will still have whatever usual preferences they have for dating.

So I don’t think it has much effect, at all, at least not on women’s end broadly. Perhaps if some men receive sufficient gratification from those para social relationships to remove themselves from the dating market that could be argued as an effect, but if so they’re a minority of men too so I doubt that’s much of an impact either.

Can’t imagine much of any effect. My bartender’s personal relationships aren’t affected by me and I’m putting his kids through college.

But seriously, for as much umbrage as “simping” raises in some guys, it’s pretty much a closed ecosystem of sex work (or sex work-adjacent) and consumerism. Most people don’t engage with it from either side and those who do are free to live “real” dating lives to the best of their ability like anyone else.

Mmmm so honestly I feel like guys simping over me when I wasnt even dating them inflated my ego to where I felt I automatically felt like I deserved princess treatment 24/7 from any man without putting in any effort. So obviously it had a negative effect on younger me.

It inflated my ego and then also creeped me out at the same time. If I already expressed to you I'm not interested in you, stop trying to give me gifts and letters. It's super uncomfortable when you're not into the other person. I also had this really creepy experience where this one guy filled a journal up with strategies on how to win me over including what gifts he should buy me. Like wtf just be normal

And no, I didn't twitch stream or have an onlyfans. This is mainly from my experiences in college. I think some guys just have it in their head that women will change their minds with money. I had some trust fund kid try to get me to go out with him for $2K which was also like wtf I'm poor but you can't buy me tf

I feel bad for simps to be honest. You shouldn't try to buy love or be wasting all your time on someone who doesn't want to be with you.

Not much. It's mostly a small minority of men and women engaged in this stuff (beyond the usual guys being overly generous to women they want to fuck that goes on in day to day life).

Get rid of simps and women aren't going to change their behaviour much. Joe Average is still boring 3rd choice and Chad is still wringing out multiple women at once.

Nothing. If she’s not interested he’s at most a dude who gives her stuff she doesn’t ask for and at worst annoying. Not sure where this idea came from that women would get desperate if they were alone. Hell, currently women’s sexlessness outnumbers men bit their majority of single women state their are single because they are happy being single.

I think the many-to-one pairing of “lower-tier” guys with attractive sex workers has a ton of benefits. It gives a bunch of sexually frustrated, lonely guys access to a “pretend” relationship with a very attractive woman and acts as an outlet that absorbs and alleviates the frustration.

It’s just unfortunate that it’s manifesting as “simping” and those guys feel like they have to, or derive pleasure from, giving lots of money to attractive women. I think if the issues these men experience were truly understood, respected, and empathized with, you wouldn’t see as much simping.

Not much. More men partake in this than women. It’s more damning for women to do it, but it’s pretty bad either way and it’s a huge redflag.

Well because the term 'simp' like the term 'creep' is almost meaningless and essentially describes a man who is investing too much (according to the shamer) into a woman without receiving enough (according to the shamer) in return.

There is no sex between men and women without some investment from the man. Period. Even showing up and chatting for 20 minutes before you shag in a car is still time and attention.

Let's limit simping to the points you outline.

I'd say 'simping' as you define it alone exerts almost no effect because the people who engage in it are still outliers.

However 'simping' is just a hyper exaggeration of larger dating dynamics --- i.e. the amount (time, energy, money, whatever) men are expected to invest in women before sex can happen.

Has there been a rise in the kind of behavior you're referring to? Hard to say, because the rise of the internet to facilitate and enable it muddies the waters. But suffice it to say there are plenty of stories about similar behaviors from prior generations.

Generally, too much expected investment from man to woman prior to sex inflates the egos of women.

It's pretty easy to tell when a woman has a lot of orbiters, even if you barely know her. For me, they're red flags and I next these women very quickly. The way I date screens them out hard --- first date is not an activity and is just a chill meet at a bar where I'm not paying for anything.

Women who chafe at just sitting and talking with you and want to 'do stuff' 'go somewhere' 'at least buy me some drinks' whatever....are high ego women.

So, as you can see, simping probably doesn't exert much of an effect. Most women I meet are cool with just meeting and talking at a bar. It's fairly rare (but not unheard of) that one of them has weird expectations that speak to her having received some of the behaviors you mention.

It has minimal to no impact unless you're dating someone who is literally microcelebrity and has thousands of them funding her existence.

A simp who bought me lingerie years ago or sent me money ob my birthday is not going to impact anything. Simps are honestly less common than men here would imagine, unless you actively cultivate that dynamic and keep entertaining the men.

It's why it's so common for sex workers, ig models, or internet personalities to have simps. Women with a lot of simps usually have a line of work that engages with horny men in some degree. The average woman or even hot woman working in an office or retail does not inherently have simps just throwing money at her.

It is a niche dynamic that pop culture blows out of proportion in terms of how many men actually do this. Most men (and people in general) are scared of being taken advantage of; the only people shelling out gifts and money like that have something else going on, and they're not the large chunk of men. Many men will throw out free compliments or praise, but actually just sending women money or gifts? Much less so unless they're getting something from it.

Simping isn’t just about spending money. Its basically any man who’s giving unreciprocated attention to a woman. Could be any form of attention: Likes, complements, help, time, attention, money, etc.

I think that coupled with the reach of social media, simping serves to overvalue women in the dating market. Which is weird because women use the attention from men they aren’t attracted to, to boost their ego up to place where they feel entitled men they ARE attracted to, which are guys that wouldn’t be simping to begin with.

Basically simping convinces women they’re in a higher attractiveness category than they are so they are less willing to give guys in their actual league a chance
