If there's no punishment there is very little reason for girls/women to NOT use these tactics. Feminist know this, which is why they say that punishing those who lie will keep real victims from coming forward. However, it seems like not punishing people who make false reports then are caught will increase the likelihood people will think most claims are false.

We’ve seen many cases of men being treated as if guilty based upon unproven allegations by women. This should come as no great surprise.

In this case as with the Depp case, the wrongly accused managed to get their hands on incriminating audio evidence of the lie, but just think how many wrongly accused men are never able to get their hands on such evidence and never clear their name.

The reason why is something similar happened to me. In middle school the girl sitting five seats down and in front of me on our school field trip to the circus accused me of masturbating during the gymnastics performance.

[1] She was in no position to see me.

[2] There was a teacher sitting right on my left.

[3] I don't think she even turned her head back a single time.

[4] I was completely fixated on the show like everyone else.

Despite the absurdity of her allegations, I was the one who was interrogated. I was the one crying in the dean's office as the dean and the principal, both women, told me they had a zero-tolerance policy for sexual misconduct. I was ultimately the only person in the whole situation who suffered at all, and yet she could simply make a clear-as-day false accusation and then go enjoy lunch with her friends, badmouthing me more.

Why did she do it? To this day I don't know. She was the popular girl. She was a social butterfly and I was an awkward shy kid who liked games and talking about games with my two friends. Maybe she did it to raise her social status. Maybe she wanted to start a rumor for fun.

About a decade ago I actually wrote an e-mail to the dean of the school who grilled me. She was still working there. It was quite long-winded but it discussed the absurdity of her allegation, the fact that I was bullied after it, and the fact that their zero tolerance policy was not implemented equally. My false accuser was never disciplined, and I suffered horrible social consequences. I told her that she should spare students her incompetence and clear hatred of boys and walk away from her position of authority.

Of course I got no response. But god damn if I could be a fly on the wall when she read it.

Be careful even if you don't have a lot of money being alone with a female can turn into legal allegations, you can't trust the system to bale you out. Have cameras recording at all times and make contact with text messages but still you can be accused. The sinful label you received never goes away even if you are found innocent. Due to the dangerous nature of rapists and sex predators, they simply get instantly jailed and charged, and it's done to prevent them from hurting those women first and foremost.

I think the big problem is the fact that there were no repercussions for the girls. There should have been SERIOUS legal consequences for that. That being said, it’s peculiar that men are no more often falsely accused of rape than they are falsely accused of other crimes, but it’s something so many men focus on.

What exactly does a woman have to gain from falsely accusing someone of rape? All of the women I know who were raped (3) were too afraid of the shame and pain to their families to even report their rapes.

I recognize being falsely accused of rape is a terrifying thing, but it’s also extremely unlikely. Think about it: How many men do you personally know that have been accused of rape? (You would know, because it would be going to a trial and public). How many women do you know that have been or attempted to have been raped? 1 in 6 women. Do you know more than 6 women? If so, statistically, one of them has been raped (we rarely share this openly in conversation… so chances are you would never know.)

False accusations need to be punished and taken seriously. But only 5% of rape accusations are false. That means 95% are real. Fact: as a man, you are more likely to be raped than to be falsely accused of rape.

I don’t want to diminish the fear of false accusations. That’s a horrifying thought and I can put myself into that mindset of how scary and life shattering that would be. I encourage you to do the same for women who have been raped. Really put yourself in their shoes and imagine the horror and brokenness of that.

Should we blindly believe women (or anyone) that say they’re the victim of a crime? No. Of course not. But Should we recognize that they are WAY more likely to be telling the truth than lying. I’d hope so.

Stay safe out there, boys and girls. And I hope we can all learn to empathize with and understand each other more, and of course use logic too.
