As a member of AA, I can tell you that if you found such things along with her AA materials, she's VERY far away from the program we work and sounds mentally unstable, moreso than a detox is going to help with. I would advise an immediate separation while she's in treatment. Get out of the situation. Alcoholics, especially those with unstable mental health, are the biggest liars you'll ever meet. It sounds really dangerous. Do what you gotta do to distance yourself and keep yourself safe.

Because of her substance abuse you have just cause to sue for divorce, and your recent findings are just icing on the cake brother. This is a large sign saying ROAD CLOSED. If you keep driving down it there's gonna be trouble.

Bro, not to alarm you, but that feels like she’s planning to kill you, drain the account, and cash your insurance; and that she’s setting you up to OD on something, specifically. I would 100% get out of that house now, and stay at a relative or shelter until you can speak with your lawyer. Has she ever made any threats against you? Direct or veiled? Something like this doesn’t come out of nowhere.

Also, history of switching out my meds, anxiety meds for blood pressure meds, and trying to open my gun safe. What are some of your thoughts??

Two initial thoughts. First, she wants you zeroed out. She wants that life insurance policy, as well as cash in any banking account. What better way to collect than if you have a cardiac-related event?

Second, while she's away, scour every fucking inch of the house. Every inch. Every drawer, every closet, basement, attic, eaves, bathrooms, closets, under the beds, garage, totes, file cabinets, everything. You need to find any and all evidence of what she obviously is planning. And I mean find everything.

Then, you need copies of all of it, and you have to take those copies out of your house and into the hands of your lawyer, and her/his office.

In my experience as a recovering (8+ yrs) alcoholic, be aware of the tendency to lie, manipulate, and steal. It's part of the disease until successfully becoming sober. That requires brutal honesty to herself before you can ever expect honesty towards others. I'm willing to bet she is not honestly trying to quit, but trying to appease you by repeating rehab. Don't make it worse by enabling her behavior.

It wasn't clear to me if she was switching YOUR anxiety meds for BP pills or the other way around, but whichever is true, she is either stealing and abusing the anxiety medication and booze (which alcoholics often do) thinking you won't notice, or possibly trying to poison you. This person can't be trusted at all right now, and presents an immediate danger to you and herself.

Get away from her, and stay away until she can demonstrate at least a year of sobriety.

Good luck to you, this was frightening to read. She could get better, but the odds aren't good.

Get a digital audio recording device and have it on you at all times, recording when she is around you.

Seriously consider getting some cameras to record in and/or around the house. Tell her it is for security. Back them up to the cloud.

I wouldn’t trust her going forward.

That’s very sketchy. You could always go to police with that or confront her and divorce her. Seems like she has something serious in the works… My last straw would be trying to access my gun safe. She could shoot you in your sleep and try to play it off as domestic abuse or a suicide….

5 detoxes, well I commend your patience and dedication to the marriage process. Don’t underestimate her and end up injured or worse.

You can get new account numbers and have policy numbers reassigned, that’s easy. Go paperless with statements. Set up two factor authentication.

The meds, order new prescriptions and keep them at work. It’s too easy to poison you. I’d consider the existing batch comprised.

Gun is tricky, what’s the motive here. Hopefully its collectable and she wants it appraised.
