I'd like to make a bridge between between what you're citing, and the research cited in Slate Star Codex's "Radicalizing the Romanceless", where the author talks about a study that showed that men with higher antisocial and/or violent behavioral markers (being part of a gang, having been in a fight, etc...) were consistently more sexually successful than non-violent men (success being measured in the number of partners here).

He also cites another study showing that for each point of QI above 100, the probability for a man to stay virgin at higher age went up, but that's not the subject.

So, my take is, maybe they're really playing russian roulette with the men they're meeting. If you (even unconsciously) orient your dating pool toward the most violent part of the male population (because, for them to have sexual success means that women show more acceptance toward them), well, you're more likely to meet someone violent.

Imo, we are in a case of perceived female hypoagency here, where those women are perceiving themselves as having not much say in who they're dating, when our dating structure is very much oriented toward the female being the subject of the dynamic and not the object (i.e., they are the ones making the choosing, it's up to the male to make a convincing offer - which is super frustrating by itself...).

And honestly, that 98% of the male population is being lumped on with the few violent ones makes my blood boil. And that's why whenever I read someone using the "bowl of M&Ms" analogy, part of me dies inside Especially if said analogy is followed by "if you're upset by that analogy, you're part of the problem, because we're not talking about you".

Feminists often use phrases and language that racist people use for immigrants. e.g. "If 5% of m&ms in a bowl were poisonous, would you eat from the bowl? If no, why would you let immigrants into our country?" And this has been said by feminists but changing "immigrants" to "men" and changing a few other words.

Or using the 13/52 but they apply it to men.

In addition to which, treating innocent men like antisocial criminals and probable sex offenders is likely to cause frustration and anger where it wouldn't otherwise exist, thereby exacerbating the problem (miniscule as it is, but a forced increase is still unnecessary extra risk, provoked by those who claim to be seeking safer environments).

you should look into philip davies's reports on the sentencing gap. allegedly 5 out of 6 male prisoners would be out of jail if they'd been treated as leniently as women.

the fact that there are more male convicts is used as a threat narrative against men, but the sentencing gap covers most of it, possibly all of it, and this is an injustice against men.

we shouldn't be surprised considering preemptive self defense is a real concept in law that allows wives to kill husbands with impunity

Comparing the "not all men" logic to Russian Roulette is stupid. By the same logic, men shouldn't date women because a small number of them are manipulative gold diggers, or emotinally abusive bitches, but feminists would be upset if we generalised all women in that way!

A small percentage of car rides result in fatal collisions but they all still ride in cars.

There is a meme out there that literally compares meeting a man to playing Russian Roulette. Yes, that’s right.The suggestion that simply my meeting a man, on any given day, you have a one in six chance of dying.

I don’t think I am alone in classifying such an idea as ‘a bit much’; and in fact, such a meme will not help women ‘feel safe’, but in fact feel terrified.

So why has nobody ever done the maths to actually work out how dangerous men as a group are?

How many legitimately violent and dangerous men are our there?

And let’s be clear on one thing – just because 90% of violent criminals are men, does not mean 90% of men are violent criminals.

The vast majority of men are perfectly lovely, and no more or less dangerous than an average woman.

And yet, such ideas remain boring to the shrill cries of gender advocacy, whose angry shrieks continue to explode all around us comparing any male interaction to, as Jamela Jamil calls it – ‘like rolling the dice with your life’.

...Rolling the dice with your life. Please. No.

So I ask again, how are such words going to make women feel safer?

And what do such dramatic, fear mongering and dehumanising thought experiments do for the mental health of our men and boys?

I’d say it’s a lose lose.

Hi - I really love your posts in general, but if I'm being very honest this one wasn't too great. Here are some of my thoughts:

Why specifically Sweden? It seems like an unfair pick considering that it is among the countries with very, very less crime (and it is highly developed). Why not take some place like the US instead (which is where most feminist studies are situated in)?
This data does not account for the fact that many of the 1% are in prison/ away from the mainstream society. This actually makes the statistic way larger than it is in reality.
4% (or even 1%) is a huge number. That means, in one of the worlds safest countries, if I see a hundred people on the street as I walk across, I probably just walked past a committer of a violent crime. So, while I recognize the intent of this post, I am not sure it does much to change perceptions
Does not account for shorter prison sentences/ crime rates for women

Edit: A better post to bring out the unfair fear against men would be instead to compare the crime rate of men with 13/50 like some of the other comments suggested

Wow. So for all the chance that some random person on the street is super dangerous, it's only 0.78% more likely to be a man than a woman.

That really puts it into perspective. I think I was subconsciously buying into the idea that men are significantly more dangerous than women, but this makes a difference.

I'm late with this comment as I have been very busy so far this year. I just wanted to say that this is a point that I keep trying to make in response to expressions of androphobia made in my presence, and without ever using the words "not all men". I try to get it across, but seldom succeed because I struggle to find a way to present the point, that will be taken seriously by people who are so heavily biased against believing that their fears of men might not be well-justified.

The presentation that you have created here is excellent. If that doesn't get the point across to someone, then I can't imagine any presentation working with that person.
