I know this is not really a men's rights topic but I thought people might have some advice for me. Not keen on posting on relationships advice because the comments on there are never balanced or well thought out.

My wife and I have been married for 15 years. For the first few years, I was earning a little more and she was fine with this. She was a stay at home mother for a couple of years when our first child was born, but then she just couldn't do it again after our second child was born. So I got a new job to work nights, and looked after our child during the day.

When this happened, we started earning roughly the same. This was still ok with her.

When both our children were a little older, I began a full time day job. She was promoted. So we were still earning the same.

However, due to health problems, I had to resign from this permanent role when it became clear that my condition was going to be life long and would affect to some extent my ability to do the job well.

I managed to find a new job but it was lower paid and a year long contract. I started earning less than her and she told me that she resented being the main breadwinner.

Unfortunately despite multiple interviews, I couldn't find a new job after this one ended. I'm still looking. My wife's extremely resentful towards me. She said she hates the pressure my lack of work has put on her. I hate myself for it, too, and feel worthless. I'm trying. I'm really trying. But I recently also dealt with a life threatening health condition that got me into ER and I'm still recovering, so I'm not able to give my 100% in my search. My wife thinks I'm making excuses but I'm applying for all sorts of jobs now, even these not directly linked to my profession.

I've had little to no emotional support from her during this time. We had marital problems when I was working nights as we spent no time together, but we managed to save our marriage. I really fear that things are going to fall apart if I don't find work soon.

Has anyone else experienced this? Did anything help keep the marriage together? There's really nobody else I can talk to about this.

Thank you for reading.
