It's amazing to realize that the only options left to him was either prison in Massachusetts for being unable to pay an unreasonable amount of alimony, or refugee status on a Native American reservation.

An interesting financial manoeuvre has just occurred to me, inspired by Judge Gorman's ruling (credit where it's due). Just stop paying the good Judge actual cash, and instead attribute her income. Hell, she's such a good judge, attribute twice her income, she's worth it! Should reduce the tax bill; everyone wins!

To think of all the thousands of blindly ignorant, gullible men that will get married this month. All so sure that 'their wife is different' and all that jazz. This culture trains and encourages women to not have the character to stay in a committed relationship of marriage, and rewards them lavishly when they finally play along and ruin the man's life. Only a complete and total fool would marry an American woman.

This stuff is a national tragedy affecting millions and millions of men. From jail, unable to drive, to outright exile to running from state to state, hounded by the IRS, victims of complete and total parental alienation, hated by their children after them being indoctrinated by their mothers, poverty, homelessness, to suicide... and millions more will get married this year in their ignorance. It's like cows in line at the slaughterhouse.

Let me say once again, men, DO NOT GET MARRIED. That is the only way to protect yourself from what is nothing short of modern day slavery.

And btw, you have to thank the National Parents Organization, formerly Fathers and Families, at least in part, for these new alimony laws in Massachusetts. This is the conservative/traditionalist "father's rights" group that believes men overwhelmingly desire to be wallets in their relationships with their wives and their kids. They believe wholeheartedly in alimony and so-called "child" support. They supported these alimony "reforms" and hailed their passage as a huge success.

Alimony and marital property IS abuse. It's stealing. It's slavery. It must be abolished outright. Anything short of that is unacceptable.

Under the new law, alimony payments are to end when the payor reaches "full retirement age," which it defines as the age at which one is eligible to receive full federal benefits. Though it used to be 65, the retirement age has risen, and according to the Social Security Administration, Young's full retirement age is 66, based on the year he was born, 1946.

Young says he has seen no written explanation by the judge, as is legally required, for why he must continue to pay.

So he shouldn't be paying anything at all anymore, much less money he doesn't have.

He was found in contempt of court and led away in handcuffs and leg irons.

“It was the most humiliating thing,” says Young, who is from Sudbury. “I’m in there with gang bangers and drug addicts and felons. I had no criminal record. I have a pharmacy degree and an MBA. I was a Marine.”

Six days later he was released by Judge Patricia Gorman after family and friends raised the $20,000. But shortly after, before his divorce was finalized, Young, who was unemployed, took a dramatic step to protest the system he says failed him and the new alimony law he says isn’t being enforced."

Alimony is ridiculous enough as is. And then you add the ludicrous obligation to pay for your ex's lawyer... it is obscene. They are incentivised to get the very best lawyer they can afford, because they know you are fronting the bill. It is a guaranteed win, so why not go all out.

It's just a game theory situation set up for women to win in every situation, but win the hardest when they go for the 'kill'. Because of course, the more money that is transferred, the more the state earns for "mediating" the conflict. The divorce-initiator is then encouraged to continue to use the court system - hiring an expensive lawyer and filing for increased alimony/CS every time she suspects the husband is working a little bit harder. Because he has to front that bill when she wins, and a good, expensive lawyer worth his/her salt isn't going to lose that case considering the court bias.

The alimony-receiver has no incentive whatsoever to get their own job, find a new partner, and generally start an independent, fiscally self-sustaining life. Why would they? It's far better to just sue and continue to leech off your ex. Think he's working around the clock, 2 full time jobs and you are only siphoning off one of his jobs? Lawyer up and go get 'em girl!!

This type of thing makes you want to withdraw all of your money from all of your accounts and donate it all to charity or something, hell even burn it, just so that the state, lawyers, and already-wealthy ex can't see a penny of it.

Also, the gall of the court to take a % cut of money transferred is appaling. If you earn $100,000 a year, you're already losing around $35,000 to taxes. That is your payment for these "courts" and whatnot. When you pay 50k in alimony, why would another $7.5 k go to courts? That is double-taxing you for no damn reason and encouraging the court to keep people stuck on wealth-transfer.

I'm all for the theory of taxes, I'm politically pretty moderate, but this type of shit makes me feel like a libertarian on April 15th
