There is a man that works at my local grocery store with two massive tumors on his face that fully cover one eye and one ear and yet he wears a wedding ring on his finger. I have an acquaintance who was in a car accident and the car caught on fire burning half of his body and a significant portion of his face, who met a girl whom he is now engaged to after the accident. Every time I leave my house, whether it be shopping, a sporting event, out for dinner, a concert, and guess what I see? Yeah, some pretty damned unattractive people holding hands with other people.

Obviously things are dramatically easier if you've got looks on your side, and obviously to many people looks matter, but if a middle aged man working at a minimum wage job with tumors on his face can find someone that loves him enough to commit to a lifetime together, then obviously there are people out there who put personality above all else. Even in this thread, despite their numbers being low there are people saying the same.

Realistically no, I wouldn't date him. Both appearance and personality matter, there are thresholds for both of them and "disfigured worse than an elephant man" is probably below this threshold.

It isn't a gotcha you're seeking though, as most men aren't disfigured.

no. attraction is important, especially to sex, and i like sex.

i have grown attraction before for men in the past, but there is still a threshold. upon googling the elephant man i don’t know if i could be genuinely and enthusiastically attracted to that.

Do 4’4” women commit to 4’4” - 5’3” men in relationships and dating? Do extremely ugly women tend to date extremely ugly men? Or do extremely ugly women tend to more often get knocked up by more attractive men and settle with less ugly men

No, because I need to be physically attracted to someone for a romantic relationship. The dude sounds cool, so I'd happily be his friend and help him out with ways to improve his situation, if possible, but sadly, if I'm not attracted to him, it wouldn't work out.

And it doesn't have to be someone hideously deformed either. Some perfectly normal-looking dudes just don't do it for me. Some not traditionally attractive dudes have caught my attention. Some guys that I can acknowledge are good-looking have been a ''meh'' in terms of me wanting to sleep with them/date them. Physical attraction is a spectrum. There are few people on either end (absurdly good-looking and really ugly), most people tend to fall somewhere in-between and what I find attractive won't be appealing to my friend.

Unfortunately, no. As much as I may like his personality, sex is extremely important to me and if I don't find him physically and sexually attractive, it wouldn't work.

Depends. If he looked like a humanoid type creature, I could get into it. I find a lot of those deforming extreme body modifications attractive.

If he just looked like a mass of flesh, lumps, and holes probably not.

If he had a massive mound on his face or head that looked like an ass absolutely not.

If is face was hanging like ripples of skin, absolutely not.

If the deformities are so bad they cause bad hygiene issues or skin conditions (or the deformity imitates them) that make me feel instinctively uncomfortable with the thought of touching them, it would have to be a rare set of circumstances where I might get feelings for them. Along the lines of I already love them before they got/I find out about the deformity or there’s something else extremely special about them that makes me see past it.
