She made several claims about circumcision, and took this incredibly entitled approach to a man who disparaged the practice: “I know it isn’t what your mom told you, or what you want to hear, but almost all women want a partner who is physically attractive. A lot of us do care what your dicks look like, and we all have our own preferences.”

Do you allow male participants to presume to tell women what they think is attractive, and say things like, too-bad-so-sad, you have to endure a pointless medical procedure on your genitals for the sake of male enjoyment? Definitely not. Please hold this person to the same standard.

She posted an incredibly, incredibly disgusting viewpoint, in essence stating that male bodily autonomy doesn’t count like female bodily autonomy does. I also find it ghastly that she’s apparently a nurse practitioner but thinks circumcision is a “medical procedure” that has merit in its practice (listing only female preference as anything remotely close to supporting evidence). I ask again, if I posted on your website that I preferred vaginas that had undergone FGM and said that was why little girls should experience FGM, would my answer be allowed to remain?

Her post was sexist and dismissive. Please step in.

Hundreds of babies die every year from this aesthetic surgery in the USA alone. I've seen African ritual circumcision of adults and it is brutal. If a young man refuses to "become an adult" he is held down and mutilated against his will. Then there is David Reimer.

You have to be careful wheb comparing circumcision to FGM. The majority of what would be considered FGM is essentially a labiaplasty which I would say is very similar to circumcision. The problem is the people who are listening to you are not imagining that. They are imagining the much more severe cases where mutilation is actually taking place.

I'm actually glad that my mother advocated for me to not get the circumcision because she didn't want me to endure the pain and saw it as pointless.

I have met women who were mutilated, and men who were circumcised (like my boyfriend).

The women who were mutilated say it ruined a big part of their lives and they fight every day to prevent that from happening to other girls.

My boyfriend says whether or not our baby gets circumcised will be his decision, because I don’t have a penis and he knows how circumcision feels. He wants to cut our baby like he was, I don’t think it’s necessary, but ultimately it will be up to him.

So to me, while circumcision is definitely a touchy topic that deserves conversation and critique (and the woman OP called out is vile and cruel), I really don’t feel that it’s on the same level as FGM. Am I wrong to feel this way?

I mean, in this case she's got a point. Female genital mutilation is worse since it can be much more painful and negatively affects the functionality of genitals. In circumcision you really just cut off relatively small piece of skin. When it comes to FGM they get rid of clitoris and in extreme cases even inner or outer labia. (At least from what I've heard)

Well, in her defense, they're not the same thing. They're both genital mutilation, but they're done for different reasons and they have different results. FGM is practiced because of religious fanatics who believe it is evil for women to receive sexual pleasure. To my understanding, they literally remove or somehow disable the clitoris so that it can no longer be stimulated. Circumcision, while also a religious based tradition, doesn't prevent men from feeling pleasure and it does have the medical benefit of being more hygienic at the very least. Much like Jim Jeffries, the comedian, if I have a son, I'm going to get him circumcised because I want women to enjoy putting his dick in their mouths. I wouldn't be doing it for them, I'd be doing it for them for him lol

This is kinda funny when you consider that spent all night sending me messages asking me very specific questions about your penis and whether I thought it would be too unattractive for any woman to want you. I get that my response wasn’t the answer you were hoping for, but remember that the average vagina is only 4 inches deep, so you would be less than an inch away from “filling” it. The thinness is only a problem visually, as the walls of vaginas collapse in on each other when nothing penetrates them, so even a pinky finger is big enough that the vagina will have to stretch. And like I told you already, you don’t have to worry about circumcision if your penis isn’t going to be a selling point anyway.
