the way grifters, companies, ads, etc use the vulnerability of lonely people to sell whatever they’re selling is kinda gross

To begin, we’ve been seeing this for decades with women, magazines, commercials, etc all basically actively telling single women that in order to date you have to “get this product” or “listen to my exclusive advice in this magazine”, etc - and i guess now that the same thing is happening to men (in a blatant manner, it’s always been here subtly) - I can really start to see how gross all this is and is a good place to start really building some comradery.

Think of ads that are for, for example, platform heels inside the shoes - “you’re single cause you’re short, buy this product!” or true classic Ts “won’t don’t like you cause you’re not buying OUR t shirts” or if you wanna go in the direction of grifters (and i think they’re the worst offenders of the bunch), think of all the RP creators and manosphere types (Tate, Cooper, Rollo, Fresh n Fit, etc) - a lot of what they sell guys is “you’re single cause you aren’t listening to me. Buy my book/course/etc.

Its all really gross how people’s single-hood and with it loneliness is actively exploited to sell a product, idea, etc - kinda says a lot about a system detached from morality, entirely driven by personal gain.
