In the context of New York City, where everything is expensive and you have to pay for everything, I've found traditional women less financially demanding than modern ones. Traditional women want you to pay for everything, but they are a lot less picky about where you take them. Modern women I've dated will sometimes offer to split the bill, but they usually expect to go out to fancier restaurants and venues. To me, it seems like a lot of "modern" women want to have their cake and eat it too.

This wasn't so much of an issue before I moved to the city. I could invite a date to spend an afternoon canoeing or hiking and never got any complaints about that, especially if I planned a nice day.
