As a 19-year-old, I have come to the realisation that I do not have any inclination towards pursuing a conventional job. Instead, my aspirations are centered around becoming a housewife and eventually a stay-at-home mom.

This is the reason why I opted to take a gap year instead of enrolling in a university. I am currently working as a nanny/babysitter

However, I cannot help but feel apprehensive about pursuing this traditional lifestyle, given that it lacks the professional/financial backing that a job provides. I guess I’m afraid of what might happen if I choose the wrong guy and try to rejoin the work force after a massive break. Hearing horror stories online doesn’t help 🤣.

Also, the societal norms of the country I live in do not place much value on this choice, which adds to my concerns. At this point, I am at a loss on what to do.

** Edit: Many people have expressed similar thoughts and it has really prompted me to reflect on my decision. I have received offers to study both dentistry and pharmacy, but I am leaning towards pharmacy because the program is only 4 years compared to dentistry which takes 5 years to complete. And it’s something that interests me more. I guess as a future mother, I could work flexible bank shifts or with an agency sometimes in order to make sure that there are no significant gaps in my career.
