I paid a lawyer a flat fee to get the documents written up for an uncontested divorce in Ohio in February. The first couple meetings were pretty quick. We drafted my version, my spouse and I negotiated some changes, and I submitted the final amendments.

Over the course of 3 weeks, I didn’t hear back from them. Calls, texts, emails, no response.

Finally, I was able to get in for an appointment and we made the final changes. Now all that needs to be done is schedule a signing, and get it filed but again, they are MIA. My attorney said he’d get back to me in a day or two. I’ve called, left VMs, texts, emails to my attorney and the paralegal with no luck.

That was two weeks ago. It’s now June and 4 months into this case and nothing has been filed and communication has been spotty.

Was your guy’s experience a similar time frame? I hate being that guy especially if this is the “norm” but I just don’t have anyone around me I can ask about this specific situation. I’ve been trying to contact them every other day to get something going or at least scheduled. I understand he’s busy with other cases, trials and other things but I think this kind of lack of communication is frustrating.
