So many things wrong with that article. Here’s just a few:

For one, their experiment was artificial, therefore not measuring how people behave in the actual workforce.
Many of the duties have nothing to do with volunteering, they are a part of an administrative assistant’s or custodian’s duties.
Some of this “volunteerism” is about balance. Those who are slacking in some areas know they need to make up for it elsewhere. Why does the article assume someone doing a fairly simple task is getting the short end of the stick?

This reminds me of the time use surveys that measure the time a woman “works” while the washing machine or dishwasher runs but fails to include the time a man spends roofing the house.

Comparing women of all colours against only white men to make the percentage as large as possible lol. Also, the actual study says:

Literally who cares. These women get PAID to do this stuff as part of their salary. Perhaps they didn't read their contract that says "...and any other tasks as may be required..."

Or maybe women actually LIKE organizing parties? My gf absolutely gets OFF organizing shit and being "involved". It's like a drug to her, she actually gets a visible erection when asked to do stuff like this. Okay. Maybe not a visible one, but you know what I'm saying.

I worked in a women dominated office for a long time. Probably 30/70 in favor of women. Stat tracking would say that about 85% of profit was derived from men. Great, plan the fucking party. The nature of the business is not party planning.

My wife does more house chores- true. I do some of them + pay bills, take care of house/ car/ maintenance. Once she said i should do more house chores. I suggested we switch our responsibilities 1:1, she didn't want to. Case closed.

I work for a small trucking company.

The core employees are men that drive trucks.

And yeah, every year we have a 'safety meeting' and the 2 girls in the office (owners wife 'HR'; and an administrative assistant). They put together the power-points and they also bring the coffee and doughnuts. And I promise you, I buy and use more cleaning supplies in my truck in a month than they do all year.

It's like, ok, if the idea of cleaning is so oppressive, well fuck, make someone else clean my truck? No? That's my mess? Fine. Clean yours.

And if I have to listen to a couple women (than don't drive trucks) tell me how to drive a truck, better bring doughnuts.

Now here's the thing. My female admins keep my shit up-to-date. i know where my book is and I know it's got all the updated certificates in it. And I say THANK YOU. Even though that's their job. So they can say thank you to me with donuts and coffee once a year.

And I'll keep my space clean, and I hope she keeps hers clean too.

"KNOW YOUR PLACE" also means "KNOW YOUR JOB". And if you think you're getting the shit end of the stick, let's switch. No? Ok. Shut it.

Women always want extra credit for doing the things no one asks them to do. They want to be patted on the back and told they did a good job. Its annoying. In my 25+ years experience working in office's, women volunteer for the office party, birthday card and gift stuff because they get seen as being valuable and most importantly it gets them away from their desk and work and they get to socialize. I've asked them point blank why they always volunteer and that say it openly. Most men really don't give a damn about the office parties and see them as a distraction and waste of time. At least from my experience. I started volunteering my team for party set up and it went from taking half a day to 2 hours for set up and tear down. And then we goof off for the rest of the time. They deserve it.

It has 100% been my experience that the women who do "office house work" want to, use it as an excuse not to do actual office work, and make it as self serving as possible. For example, office parties or events that no one wants to attend except the organizers.

Imagine if Angela from The Office spent years using the party planning committee to terrorize her office, only to suddenly claim she's a victim because she plans all of the parties, and you get this Forbes article.

Also the idea that such actions don't translate into recognition at work is 100% the fault of the woman not knowing how to use her work to get recognition. It doesn't matter what you do, it matters how good you are at convincing the boss that it's important -- and that should be a slam dunk for people doing all of the high visibility stuff like organizing office parties. "Why yes, I did help plan this. It was easy once we finished XYZ task. Let me elaborate..."

I am so tired of hearing women trying to make every single mediocre task they do seem like the hardest thing in the world. They want a pat on the back for cleaning their own mess? A pat on the back for raising their own kids? Paying their own bills? Cooking food? Literally every functional adult across the world does that. But somehow western women want to be praises for the bare basics.

Shit half the time when they say they "cleaned" if you asked the person they say they are cleaning for, he's probably say the house is a mess 9 out of 10 times. She probably only cleans like once a damn month.

Office housework? The custodians clean the bathrooms, vacuum the carpets, and take out the trash. If you work in a typical office setting, there’s nothing of any significance to clean. Maybe wiping down the table in the break room before you eat?

If you work in an office, your life is already pretty cushy. These middle class feminists really have no clue how easy their life is if they have to complain about wiping down a fucking table once in a while. Or maybe they do know how privileged they are, and they just need to manipulate and gaslight anything possible to continue being perpetual victims.
