Summary: A Woman went out with a male friend and she ended up getting a Uber back home with him since she lived 3 blocks away. This male friend previously has asked her out a few times before but she's adamant that this was just mutual friends hanging out. She says that he didn't want to pay an extra $7 to have the uber take her home, so she ended up walking the rest of the 3 blocks. From this she says she's 'never got the ick faster' and also that the guy unfollowed her. Reading this and assuming it's accurate there's a few talking point I want other opinions on:

As I understand it the ick refers to someone you're attracted to doing something that is a turn off. Now this is a bit confusing to me because if you're simply going out as 'friends' then why would you get the ick unless you were viewing them potentially in a romantic way?

Now there's a couple questions I ask myself:

  1. How'd they end up in the same uber and how was she unaware he wasn't going to pay for her to go 3 blocks until the very end of the ride?
  2. What would've happened had he paid the extra money to get her home.
  3. Why was she unable to pay for their uber home, pitch in, or even just give him the extra 7 dollars to get to her house?

Now from my perspective this is an example of a common issue in male/female friendships'. She went on a friend outing, expecting date treatment, got friend treatment then got the ick. Occasionally I notice this in my own relationships with newer platonic female friends. There's the expectation that I would do thing typical of a boyfriend, and when I fulfill them as a friend, things are weird.

I would like to get others opinions on what you think happened and whether you think this is common
