Bit of a read, will be shortening it more

this began after getting therapy, learning my boundaries, what type of girl I need, became physically active, spent time on myself, time prioritization, remaining present

I saw the most beautiful girl (front desk) where I had to do my weekly random drug screens. (DUI, fired from job, career license recovery program, diversion). She was that 10/10 for me, her voice, her attitude, her work ethic.

The first time we met went terrible. She was mean, stern with some attitude. I didn’t have a form I needed but was hostile now every time she saw me come in the first couple times.

I told the guy that has to watch me urinate “bro, that girl with the dark hair and glasses is stupid beautiful” and he said her name and mention that she was single mother to a boy. I couldn’t believe it. She looked like the type that would have a fat rock on her finger. You know the type, gorgeous thin Hispanic girl with dark wavy hair and the captivating eyes.

Anyway the guy asked if I was going to shoot my shot I was like nah I don’t think so, I feel like I would freeze up if I even tried. I wasn’t feeling confident at all. A month fresh from a DUI, realizing I’m a recovering addict, and stripped from my career and my career license doesn’t really spew confidence.

4 months went on and managed to have 1 sentence conversations which included the joking “do you live here?”, “You might as well work here since you’re always here haha…”

I would say something like “Jeeze not in a million years” or “And see you guys all the time? Hard pass.”

I felt welcomed there after a while.

Anyway I saw this tall and fit dude around my age flirting with her and getting more way than me. I thought to myself damn I waited too long, why haven’t I asked her out yet? Smh. I then thought to myself, well that guy may look attractive but I’m funny, I’ve learned a lot about myself and conquered a devastating blow to my entire life and I’m still standing.

I said fuck it, next time I see her I’m going to ask her out.

I didn’t know how to ask a women out anymore, I’m sober now 6 months at this point and don’t pick up girls with “let’s grab a drink after work or want to go to the bar down the street?” I talked to my best friend and he said just ask her out for coffee. I was like coffee? I don’t think someone would want coffee after a shift and I don’t think many girls would go for that because it sounds so idk cliche or just not my style. Then I thought to myself, I’ve been liking boba a lot these days and there could be a good conversation just from that .

Valentine’s Day came and as I was walking walking out I said “Hey happy Valentine’s Day 😊 “ “Thank you, same to you” I then nervously proceeded with “hey would you want to go get some boba after your shift some time?” She looked at me weird and said “boba?” And I was like “erm, do you not like boba?” And she said “I love boba 😊 “ I didn’t say anything after that and I just kind of stupidly stared at her and she laughed and said “im working right now” and grabbed a post it note and pen and handed it to me. I wrote down my number.

She ended up texting me later that night. Asked a couple of questions of what I was into and I did the same and it would be the end of it. I was so ecstatic. I couldn’t believe this was happening. But I realized it was just that and I was feeling like i was getting friend zoned.

One Saturday her son was being picked up by her BD and she was just going to clean and play video games all day. I said that’s cool must be nice to relax after a long work week. I didn’t realize why she was telling me this, it’s almost like she’s poking me to ask her? She then said she had to dreadfully go to the grocery store and I just shot her with the “would you like to get some boba before you go to the grocery store so it’s less painful?” She said she would love to. I was so nervous and excited I didn’t think she would say yes!

We met up and I thought it went well. We laid down what we are looking for in a relationship and little history of ourselves and how we got to where we were in our lives. I mentioned some low subtle sexual jokes to show that I was interested in her more than just a friend type of way. We ended on a positive note.

I told her I had a wonderful time and that hopefully we can do it again and she said the same.

I got in my car and drove home and I wanted to text her but I knew that if I did, I would sound pushy. I thought to myself that if she really really wanted to see me again, she would text me first and ask me out. Right when I put my phone down I get a text from her saying “Boba on me next time”.

We went out on a few dates after that and met her son and he’s fantastic. We are now boyfriend/girlfriend and have plans for our future and I couldn’t be happier.

Anyways the point of this is, take the advice on spending time on yourself and work on yourself daily. ONLY SHOOT AT WHAT YOU WANT and if it’s not a hell yeah, it’s a hell no. I got my career license back, still on diversion, and getting interviews for new jobs. She’s aware of all it and is supportive with everything I do. I edited for easier read. Let me know if it’s too long still and I’ll cut it up to just me asking her out haha. I just feel that the details are very important because of the build up and the internal process.
