I still believe either a wiki, ebook or otherwise better format for the sidebar post are needed so that we can have a big shiny "STEP ONE: READ THIS FIRST" link in the sidebar that tells them what STEP TWO and so on are.

Right now, you goto the sidebar and its just a ton of links with no organization.

Consider for instance the "shit test" link on the sidebar, it goes to This Link which is by Tofu and like 1/3rd of a page long, when the #2 of all time seddit post is here and specifically on shit test. It is like 2-3 pages with better formatting and information.(it links to tofu's post at bottom).

or that we have two different "New? Start here!" post each with totally different set of links. Personally I like this one but it is by someone who deleted name and I don't know if it is even kept up to date.

Basically I think we have too many voices and paths for any reasonable person to follow. Maybe we should just stick to answering newbie questions, but I think there have been a lot of great information posts just with little organization to keep them being read.

I think there should be a consolidated voice to start people out on, broken down into "Steps". This way we can ask "Have you read Step 7 yet, this addresses that" and have a better relationship with all our source material.

First of all, thanks for actually responding. I was beginning to think all the mods had just taken a vacation.

Second, the feeling I'm getting is that most of the mods have been doing this for so long that they are getting burned out on responding to the same posts over and over again. How about asking some of the more active and knowledgable members if they'd like to moderate. I don't know anything about if there is or isn't a limit to the number of the moderators, but if that's the case then the ones who've become less active can be replaced, if only for the time being since they could just be more preoccupied than usual lately.

Another option is to give some sort of flair to PUAs, the ones that mod's believe are a good source of knowledge.

Lastly, and I think this is the most important part, the sidebar needs to be reformatted. The information there is some of the most helpful and insightful stuff I've read on seduction, but for a new user it might be difficult to navigate. Most specifically, the askseddit link should be more visible since as it is, its hidden in a block of text. Also the additional links section is kinda jumbled.

Speaking of the sidebar, I know you guys want to draw some traffic from reddit to your seddit coaching campaign and I'm fine with that. You guys freely give your time to help out it seems justified that you'd like to take something away, but that link should be below the "Ask Seddit" and "New Here?" links. It will still be plenty visible, but those two links should be the first thing anybody new to this subreddit sees.

I think you are doing a good job. I also understand the problems you are facing as a moderator and the suggestion I would give is send short messages to any poster's who's post you removed and give them a short canned response why and tell them that if they disagree then they can appeal to another one of the moderators.

edit : I want to add that the good discussions will happen regardless but they will be a lot more focused if the moderators filter out the posts that have already been "answered" in the sidebar.

As frustrated as I am with seddit's decline in quality I think we should leave things the way they are, delete askseddit and sedditelite and just see what happens.

Its one thing for the haters to say "wow this sucks" but I don't see anybody, including myself, post original or useful content. These oneitus newb lack of sidebar reading guys will always be there and the lack of massive downvotes means our community is full of them.

Having a community of endless newbs is almost a good thing. This means eventually the more experienced sedditors are too busy to post and out in the field and filling their lives with beautiful and interesting women.

There is probably a natural progression of AFC -> Keyboard Jockey -> Dude too busy to post.

If people are truly disappointed then they should post interesting content, downvote where appropriate and suggest improvements to the current sidebar content which helps these newbs ramped up quickly. Meta-hate-complain posts are really beta. ;)

I think we need more emphasis on content. I originally subscribed here because I like the frequent posts to videos and blogs by pros or giving specific examples, that's what I find interesting.

Nowadays I go to the frontpage and it's nothing but self.seduction posts. no offense to some of the very awesome posters here giving good advice, that's just not really what I'm here for, to read about some dudes fucked situation or motivational quote, and then a big circlejerk around it.

some things I remember finding memorable: a post linking to a speech david wygant gave (which introduced me to him), a few posts here and there demonstrating alpha-behaviour in movies and breaking it down (both the youtube channel that does this and another one about a scene from meet joe black), the clip from the tv show when roosh blows away the competition. That's the kind of material I find interesting here. In the last month I've gotten to the point where I look at the domain first and if its a self post i don't even read the title.

Improvements are important and steering these people do some getting started type posting would be great.

As much as it rubs the more experienced guys wrong, alienating the new guys for such a natural tendancy is just not very friendly, or helpful.

I think it would be a sad state of affiars.

I feel that this should be a community about studying seduction and improving ourselves with usefull knowledge. But all this is hard to get when 90% of the time people are answering the same AFC questions over and over. How can you expect someone to have the commitment to change themselves and do something with their lives when they cant even botter to read the sidebar? Why should we put up with these people who just whant a magic solution that will make all their problems go away?

Its not that its forbbiden to be an AFC, heck, I am the definition of one. Its just that the PUA community is to me atleast, becoming something better. These people just want some crazy voodo to get the chick they are obssessed with, like that would do them any good.

Of course, we should not be disrespectful to them personally in anyway. One of the bad things I saw in the PUA community at large is this ridiculous hate towards "nice guys" or "AFCs" that come more as self-hate than anything else. Maybe its because we tend to hate in people what we hate in ourselves. But the thing is those people just dont know any better.

In the end, thats why we should downvote and ask them to read the sidebar for a start.

The trouble with this subreddit is that despite the large number of subscribers, there is an absurdly low participation rate, specifically in voting.

If people voted when they were in here, then the system would take care of itself (or maybe not, considering how many AFCs come in here and vote down ideas that bother them like being told they have one-itis), and there'd be no need to worry about any single person's set of judgement. The problem is, people aren't voting, or posting, or commenting.

I don't like the idea of removing posts, but this subreddit needs something, because I don't think what we have now is working.

Most of it doesn't bother me, but I had to say something the other day when there was a massive thread about some guy getting his first kiss...

Cute story for some, but it just didn't seem like seddit material. There didn't seem to be anything at all for an average person to gain from it, if anything it was inspiring for 18+ forever alones. That's not such a bad thing, but it's something that can be done in /r/reddit.com, /r/AMA, or /r/gaming.

For the most part, I like this community, but I don't really contribute enough to have a huge influence. I lurk, occasionally learn something, and pitch in on discussion when it seems appropriate. But that one post just stuck out like a sore thumb as the opposite of what this subreddit usually is. If there's one thing I really appreciate about seddit, it's when the threads lean more to the objective side, the what could have been done differently on field reports, etc, and not the gushy motivational/circle jerk side. After all, that's what makes seduction communities different from talking it over with your real life friends, it's objective.

I've just added this sub to my front page and not posted here yet, however, this post applies to me, as I am the ultimate newbie, and I am bound to ask something basic. To me, it sounds like you want this to be a fairly advanced forum. I'm not saying there shouldn't be one, but is it better to take this general forum and try to trim down what it is, or start the forum you want? Or maybe you want a sub-reddit just for field reports and discussions thereof. Go for it. But please give the newbs someplace to go to ask questions and chat out the basics, not just the sidebar.
Edit to say: I don't mean just a sub-r for FR's, I mean a sub-r for each section you want to discuss.

It should be easy for newbies. We should stop expecting them to put their posts in the right place, in the right manner, because that's obviously an unrealistic expectation.

How much control do you have as a moderator, though? Can you easily move posts from seddit to askseddit? If not, can you edit titles? If you could add a [rookie] tag to each newbie question, that would give burned-out veterans an easy way to filter the rehashes while still making the sub accessible to newcomers.

Like others have posted, we should direct as many new people to the side bar as possible. I do see quite a bit of posts that I know the answer lays right in one of the links on the side bar.

I think it would also warrant to have a link to "Best Of Seddit". This sub-reddit to me is more of an "organic sidebar of Seddit". Basically what this community has felt was of value is added to that sub-reddit. Mods are busy and can't always be updating the side bar. Plus, I've always felt the side-bar links have been biased based on what the Mods feel are worthy (could be wrong).

Back to the side bar, maybe it's time to consolidate everything into one post? That way, you can have one big link that says "START HERE BEFORE YOU POST". In this post, you can cover many topics but here is a controversial idea - at the bottom of the this consolidated post, you could state to new comers that if they have a question they feel wasn't answered by the "New Comers" post - they should tag their title that signals they've read the sidebar. (I dont mind assisting in compiling this post). Have a "Long version" and "TL;DR" (funny enough) version. The "TL;DR" would just be fundamental sections (e.g. Inner Game, Kino, etc) with links under each.

E.g. I may have a question dealing with one-itis, I've read the side bar but I think my situation is different. I'd post in Seddit with maybe [SB] (for Side Bar) in the title - that way at least I tell the community I made an attempt.

This may work because you'd have to go through the entire "New Comers" post to learn about the [SB] tag. Anyone who posts a simple question without the title - you can simply send them a simple one sentence "Please read this New Comers post first before posting your question".

It is subject to abuse - all it takes is one to figure out that [SB] = response from community but I think it's a good attempt at getting people to read the side bar.

ALSO, the "Additional Links" in my opinion, could use some clean up. Maybe put them in a nice bullet-style list?? Move beginner material more to the top, advance & "bonus" material (e.g. PUA interviews) to the bottom.

Anyways, just my 2 cents. It's all I can think of right now at work.

Instead of creating an AskSeddit, I bet it would have been better to create AdvancedPickUp (or something like that). People who are looking to get into this are going to find this subreddit first and then may or may not read the sidebar - then even if they do they are going to want to submit their question to the more active subreddit. By creating AdvancedPickup, then all the people who are here a lot or just want out of all these beginner questions would actually go to APU. In other words, there isn't much incentive for a beginner to leave a more active general forum for a less active specific forum (/r/seduction to /r/askseddit) but there is incentive for advanced people to leave a broad general subreddit and go to an advanced (specified) one.

The people who are here a lot know the sidebar and the rules, the people who just stop by don't. This is going to be a HUGELY active sub anyways so lets just merge askseddit and this (since essentially they are the same thing) and create something like /r/advancedpickup. Let the redundant posts get the quantity and the more advanced stuff get the quality - win:win if you ask me

Here's some ideas:

No posting (commenting ok) until you put up at least one FR involving talking to one girl for five minutes, or if you're not that advanced, five girls for one minute.
No restrictions on posting, but give a flair to anyone who successfully posts a report, as described in the previous point.
Give a flair to a guy who gets laid by two different girls in one month. Seriously, it's stuff like this that might make all the difference.
Try to explain somewhere in the sidebar that while it's fun and profitable for any guy to study seduction, it's a certain kind of lifestyle and if you're looking for a more "traditional" relationship then you might want to mosey on over to /r/relationships. I know this point is contentious but I'm trying to draw the line between a normal lifestyle and a seduction lifestyle.
Any time someone posts a FR, have people in the comments suggest how many points the scored and why, a la Whose line is it anyway, then have upvotes determine agreement or disagreement. Then award points and give flair. This is just to keep people motivated and action-oriented. I put up a suggested point system earlier.
Someone needs to start a subreddit for guys 25 and older. Because there's just too much of a difference in lifestyles between college guys and older guys.
