Good job on the progress, OP! Although when you say you didn't do much, is that true? Because when I started working on myself, I thought it was the hardest battle of my life!

So if you did, in fact, work very hard to get where you are, I'd suggest to acknowledge compliments next time and let the person making them know that you are grateful for them instead of dismissing them. A dismissal kinda means that you don't believe what the person says and may show a lack of confidence.

Other than that, keep up the hard work! IMO, self-improvement is the single most important thing that you can do for yourself, and you seem on a good run!

Why does this feel strange to my ears, it's imo a pretty beta reply. It shows that you appreciate her compliments and are suggesting that she never noticed you before.

Telling her that she was and is in power of noticing you. While it is obviously her that needs to notice you, you don't want to say that. To hear a confident guy saying that he was always cool but anyone or someone in particular didn't notice him would not be charismatic. At. All.
IRL the delivery could make it cheeky, but sent as a text message, it is meh at best. IRL you can wink, when you say this make it absurd, start kino and could do other stuff that could make this statement look ridiculous and take her mind off to the other things that you may be doing, but there is no possibility of this on a text.

When someone compliments you the best way to reply is in an indifferent tone like you are tired of hearing compliments (read: you get loads of them), or take it as an opportunity to start flirting and setting up a date.
