You're absolutely right. The reason why it's not popular in media is beacause cases like this exposes that "patriarchy", "women discrimination" etc. is mostly just a hoax, at least in western countries. However, it's popular to some degree in local conversations. Like in my country (Poland), when you see any comments below article or video about conscription, it's very negative towards this idea, pointing how unfair that is. I'm also glad a lot of men are waking up and no longer believe this bullshit, when you are somehow morally forced and treat it like some kind of patriotic endeavour, while your country priority list puts men below (almost) everything and everyone.

I talked with my parents about this (ukranian young men being forced to go to the front line) and they didn't belive it.

They said that if it was true it would be on the 8 o´clock news.

simply put: society values the lives of men less than the lives of women.

I'm a Ukrainian who fled Ukraine by illegally crossing the border a year ago. Ukrainian government protects the border with Europe better than the border with Russia so their male slaves couldn't escape. There are numerous cases of men drowning in rivers or dying in mountains while crossing the border. Some were even shot dead by border patrol.

Nobody cares about men. They are being referred to as a resource, an asset to the country. It goes against the Constitution but nobody cares once again.

There is a huge draft dodging shaming campaign run by the media. Men who don't want to serve are considered almost lower human beings by many. Dying for your country is a privilege they say. At the same time, neither government officials nor their kids demonstrate a will to serve in the military.

And yeah, every time there is a missile attack, the media would highlight how many women and children died. Nobody gives a shit about men. Men are forced to die to protect women whereas millions of women left Ukraine and are happily spreading their legs for foreigners and posting juicy pics on Instagram.

There are no feminists protesting for equal rights to die for their country. All that draft thing is nothing but a mere human sacrifice. And men are brainwashed that they should be proud of giving their life away for their women and children. Women would shame them first, and divorce them after leaving for Europe and taking children with them.

Ukraine at this point is no different from Russia and it's copying Russian tactics. The only difference is that in Russia the borders are still open for men. If that's what my nation is fighting for - to be like Russia but with different borders, I'm out. That war should be about completely different things.

Men are the problem in this case. I am living in a country where military training & being a reserved soldier is mandatory for men. When I talk about why women aren’t taking up the same responsibility while enjoying all the benefits of being an equal citizen, it is almost always another man that will question my masculinity. Whenever I talk about bodily autonomy for men, it is almost always another man that tells me to man up. Women rarely come to argue & disagree.

Well, don't you know we have a war with russia? And because if this, according to law, we legally have forced mobilization. Not the volunteer mobilization. It's legally forced by the law. The law from 1996, slightly changed last month.
Kidnapping is a bad practice we, as a society, try to get rid of, by making recruiting. And it's hard and complicated. On one side, the army needs more personnel. On the other, the rule of law must prevail. But if rule of law is totally prevailed and because of this army don't get personnel, and we lose and get occupied, there would be no rule of law. So it has to be a compromise. And we try to make one. Just know that russia always do psy-ops using few cases to show that it is everywhere, while it's not.

Where is all the protests

Yes, please do a good thing and go protest. Demand giving us F-16s, tanks, missiles. The more we have, the less of us die. And the faster war will end.

the whole russo-ukrainian war has been an excuse for the media to reboot ultranationalism, from silly things like the 2022 person of the year award going to the "spirit of ukraine", to governments openly praising ukrainian SS veterans. one major aspect of ultranationalism is dulce et decorum est pro patria mori, which specifically applies to men. even one of the most widely known cruel dictatorships paid women to stay at home and raise children while all the men died in war or in horrible working conditions.

Admittedly, they've never covered this angle, but also the Ukrainian father I know has never spoken about it either... He moved here 8 years ago? He's very conscious of the war there.

It's a difficult situation. What is your solution to the problem?

If someone invaded your country took your land, your home, your family, and friends away from you. You then find out noone is going to fight for your rights because all the men ran away, how will you feel.

I'm not personally sure where we should draw the line as I stand for men's rights aswell as the rights of all the people in the captured areas of Ukraine.

Ukraine is in emergency mode. It's a war zone. Yeah they are making mistakes but at any time Puttin could literally end all of it by stopping and you phrase your entire post like it's Ukraines fault for what's happening to it. Like they should just let Russia invade.

Men will be treated worse under Puttin and honestly the more they whittle down Russia the less of them are left when the rest of the world is drug into WW3 and having to fight China.

it would be stupid to conscript women into the army. if they get killed then you lose their potential to have babies and maintain or grow your country's population. if men get killed, the remaining men can still father the kids.

there are rules about what ages getting drafted and if you meet certain criteria then you are excused.
