The only fragment of the article I found mildly appealing was this:

It's not accurate nor in any way complete but I'm happy they at least mention these problems.

But, to go on a tangent, I always wonder while reading about men dropping out of workforce: what are these men living off of?

Unbelievable, man. More and more young men, especially the demographic who used to make the bulk of the Army, do not want to serve anymore a country who has treated them like second class citizens for the last ten years, calling them every single name in the book on a daily basis?

Isn't that what they want to do, is close the gap in recruitment, based on equality. If you can't increase the number of females wanting to join, reduce the number of men wanting to join. It is that simple.

I read the whole article and it basically is just political propaganda? It pretends to be about the military but it actually just snipes at 'right wing' and 'far right' and 'men are stupid' over and over again. To be honest, it actually says very little about the military. It's like an propaganda piece from a left wing outlet except with a military flavor.

Ignoring all the other issues, this is a problem in a bunch of western countries including mine - and if they’re anything like mine all the advertising basically exclusively targets women.

So if you don’t advertise to the men who used to join at all of course they will join less. No fucking shit.

What’s funny is it seems all the increased push for women to join over the last decade has made zero difference to their numbers other than to see less men enlist.

If it’s anything like Australia, recruitment is totally focused on women: footage of women on the bridge of an amphibious assault ship watching helicopters taking off. And all this garbage talk about how they “need to end the male warrior ethos” of the military! I guess they’re female social workers instead. And then they wonder why men are less likely to sign up!

Setting aside the article, which is cliché postmarxist propaganda, the fact that men are not signing up anymore is very significant news for men's rights.

When something affects the US Army's ability to function, that somethings becomes a worldwide priority. Multinationals might be powerful, but it's the US Army that is running the show.

If it thinks men's issues being too overlooked will hurt its ability to recruit, men's rights have a good chance of becoming a political priority. 🤞

We lower standards for women, enforce less of the already reduced standards for women, force men to pick up the slack as the lower-standards-having women fail to meet the proper requirements for the job, and prosecute men for women's often-false accusations of discrimination and mistreatment because we "believe all women". The problem is offering something to attract men.

Another problem of course is a much larger percent of the population is obese, suffering from some metabolic issue or otherwise unfit. This impacts male numbers more because the total number of female recruits is less.

Men far outnumber women in all branches. It’s ridiculous to claim their problem lies with a lack of men.

I dont think the difficulties in enlistment is related to gender.

You fight in wars not really associated with the us, so ppl back home r probably gonna judge you for it, And theres not really any glory when it feels like ur not defending your homeland.

It was always a con, duping men into sacrificing their health and their bodies to be counted as masculine and worthy of honor. As in so many other areas of life now, the pretty covers have been pulled off the steaming piles of bullshit. The West has always been hopeless dealing with Yin energy, with "I prefer not to," or "I am not going to get in shape to be a sacrifice." Why we lost in Viet Nam, and in Afganistan. Only certain things can be done with overwhelming force. Life is push and pull, give and take. We've decided to withhold support and honor from men and now they're increasingly not available for the kinds of hard nasty jobs they've stepped up to do over the centuries.

unless you're going in as an officer prestige and pay for enlisted isn't all that great. the military work conditions and life are pretty grueling. military spouses have the highest infidelity rates. also with the reserve activation clause even if your enlistment expired they can still recall you after xyz amount of time if an emergency arises.

I have been going down to meps for the Coast Guard and I do notice my branch doesn’t get women. I didn’t meet any going into the Coast Guard. Most of the women go in Army and Air Force. Even then it is a lot less than the men.

You also gotta realize most people are not going in for patriotic reasons. Most are trying to escape their home life, going in for financial reasons or their family went in so they are following suit.

Other than getting away from my family I am excited for the commodore. I really had fun at meps with everyone even though we were going into different branches. I isolate myself so much I forget that I am actually good with people and that people don’t actually hate me. It’s just my family that tells me everyone hates me and is friends with me out of pity 😅.

Both of those are hard to come by these days. The Army offers stability and economic mobility in a meritocratic system for men who find the right girl. And it offers patriotic purpose, honor, and fraternity to men who fight and are willing to die for a righteous cause. Without those, the reasons to join lack broad appeal and may be more situational.
