As the title states, we have both retained attorneys and are going through the process, however, it is moving extremely slowly. My wife is pressuring me to move out, but I'm not exactly sure how that would work. Both of us are on the mortgage currently, so I don't think I will be able to qualify for an apartment lease or certainly not a second mortgage. Also, if I move out, I definitely cant afford to pay my half of the current mortgage plus a monthly apartment payment. I also have read about "abandonment" if I move out and certainly dont want to be affected by that. I could potentially stay with family however only temporarily. I have no idea how long it will take to finally sign documents and get approved by a judge as well as her refinancing the house in her name. On top of all of that, I dont know what to do with my belongings in the meantime as I dont trust that they will be safe if I keep them at my current house until I have a place for them. I also dont know if I'm legally allowed to move all my stuff out before signing an agreement. If I move on with family, do I still have to pay the mortgage to a house I am not living in? I have posed these questions to my attorney but still awaiting an answer. Any advice would be extremely appreciated! Thank you in advance!!
