I have posted here a few times about my STBXW’s abrupt exit and most likely affair.

One thing that really hits is the fact that I acknowledged her childhood trauma but was completely blind to the fact that it could/would eventually show up and destroy me.

I won’t go into detail as I already have in my other post. Basically, she started taking a GLP-1 med at the beginning of this year. She always had self-esteem and body-image issues. She dropped the weight quickly. I supported her the entire way. Shady behavior followed and finally when I confronted her on it she became stone cold and filed for divorce. Rewrote the entire history of the relationship and marriage to make me the villain. The person I knew died.

She shared with me probably half way thru our 10 year relationship that her mother was physically and emotionally abusive. “You are getting fat, get on the treadmill!” Things like that. Her mother would hit her. She witnessed her parents go thru a nasty divorce. She witnessed her mom bounce from guy to guy. The sad thing is, my STBXW was always disappointed in her mother doing this. I remember her several times saying “my mother can never be content alone, always needs another man”. Sadly, it appears my STBXW is going down an eerily similar path.

She dropped that weight and latched onto the new attention. She even admitted it to me.

Had I known what I know now. Don’t ignore the childhood trauma. Don’t marry damaged goods!
