Wedding ring at the gym

Do you guys wear your wedding ring at the gym?

I like wearing my wedding ring, it doesn't prevent interactions with women normally infact I would say it has the opposite affect and facilitates to cut through the bullshit "oh my gawd you're married?" "Why dont you wear a ring?" "Are you a player?".

However, I dont wear it at the gym because I scratch it on the bars and it is slightly annoying however it invokes very different interactions with women and with a different type of female (you know the young ones who are trying to use their tight rig to "lock in a man" so they can make babies and get fat)... I have as much interest talking to them as I do in stabbing myself in the eye with a fork

I'm trying to work out if it's the lack of wedding ring or the gym that is the difference though and keen to hear others observations

No, it gets in the way and is uncomfortable.

[–]2ndalRed Beret8 points9 points  (9 children) | Copy

I don't take it off when I lift.

I also don't wear gloves. I like the calluses—they are a consistent reminder of the struggle, that lifting not only builds muscles but strengthens the character. The callus is especially thick on my palm near my wedding ring, which I think is a fitting analogy.

[–]Nec_sorte_Nec_fato2 points3 points  (3 children) | Copy

I second this. Wife seems to enjoy feeling my calloused hands.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children) | Copy

You get callouses from the bar, not your ring.

[–]Nec_sorte_Nec_fato1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

The most calloused area of my hand is under the ring.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I didn’t know it would do that. I hope you never have a problem like I had. Good luck

Just walk around with forks in your eyes, no-one should bother you.

Ring off, headphones on, don't fucken annoy me look on the face.

There is fuck all girls in my gym though.

I don’t wear my ring at the gym, I don’t want to glove my finger. My wife got me a Qalo ring but I lost it in less than a month. Any ring even a silicone one will cause blisters, callouses.

[–]dcapt461 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Scratches on the bars and hurts for heavy pulls. I put it in my shorts pocket (zip). Other than that I DGAF. Also don't wear gloves tough hands is part of the benefit.

I think you may be low T.

You focus on irrelevant details.

Less focus on details - more focus on the important things.

In the case of gym it will be actual lifts. How many reps, how many series, how heavy.

Stuff you asked is irrelevant.

To answer your next AskMRP question, no, you should not go to your doctor to measure your T levels.

You should eat eggs, vit D3, zinc in the morning, magnesium in the evening and avoid soy, while lifting heavy.

That's what's relevant.

I'm focusing on the different behaviours I notice with women based on their societal expected reactions in a Hypergamous world. And I'm interested to hear others thoughts and observations

Red pill is relevant all the time

Addict bro is right.

Women pick up on the subtext far more then men do. To us it's a ring. Wear it or not. To them? The medium is the message.

[–]ex_addict_broRed Beret0 points1 point  (4 children) | Copy

The only subtext women pick with OP is that thirst for attention in his eyes. Doing a set, then looking at a girl for validation... or some other covert-contract thing

[–]Alphaphux0 points1 point  (3 children) | Copy

You do your thing, no need to project on to me. I have given no context as to when or how my interactions with women or men happen.

[–]ex_addict_broRed Beret0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy

You did say you’re focusing on it

[–]Alphaphux1 point2 points  (1 child) | Copy

Why so much hate?

I didn't fuck your wife buddy, or maybe I did...

[–]ex_addict_broRed Beret0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

You potentially could but should I care?

[–]ex_addict_broRed Beret0 points1 point  (3 children) | Copy

You're focusing on irrelevant details and this whole thing is worth exactly two pieces of shit.

Your dogmatic contemptuous contribution to this otherwise civilised discussion?

Exactly my point...

[–]becoming_alpha0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I take off my ring and wear gloves when I lift or my hand gets torn up. I keep it on if I'm doing cardio. I really couldn't care less what others in the gym think.

[–]TaipanshimshonRed Beret0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

The level of interaction with girls doesnt change.

[–]RPAlternate42Red Beret0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I don't wear mine at all.

[–]SteelSharpensSteelMod / Red Beret0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I take my ring off when going to the gym. Safety considerations.

Just have a old Shuffle with workout songs on it. Eye of the Tiger, baby!

[–]drjamesstone0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

If I chat with a woman at the gym, she knows I'm married. Don't be the guy trying to hide any part of your life.

[–]mrpCamper0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Enough people do not wear their wedding ring at the gym to make it acceptable to not do it , if that is what you choose.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

When we got married we couldn't afford rings. About 5 years later we got a couple of cheap rings.

I took mine off about 10 years ago; today I don't know where it is.

I'm thinking of getting another one, but I wouldn't wear it at the gym.

[–]RedPillCoach0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

I recently found my ring after more than 10 years misplaced in a secret drawer to a jewelry box. I can confirm that considerably more women approach me for casual conversation at the gym and elsewhere when I am wearing my ring.

[–]mrpaycee0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

Why would you wear a ring at the gym? You're there to work out effectively, not talk to women. If that ends up happening, okay. But seriously reconsider why you're asking the question.

This is a logistical thing, nothing else. Does the bar tear up your ring or finger when you're wearing it? Take it off. Worried about it falling off of something? Take it off and don't think about it until you're ready to put it back on. Why are you looking for validation from gym bitches to the point where you need to ask MRP about your choice to wear a ring or not?

[–]Alphaphux0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Not looking for validation, I take the ring off because of the safety and comfort reasons. I then NOTICE not entice different behaviours which I was interested in discussing.

Your attempt at psycho analysis wasn't required

[–]broneilbro-1 points0 points  (0 children) | Copy

I put it on my watch band. I have taken my ring off and lost them and also the silicone ones don't well either.

[–]officerkondo-1 points0 points  (9 children) | Copy

I don't wear any jewelry to the gym, more especially a ring. It would just pinch or otherwise get in the way. There is a reason why manual laborers do not wear rings.

I don't have interactions with anyone at the gym because I am there to accomplish a task, not get validation from other gym goers.

[–]Alphaphux0 points1 point  (8 children) | Copy

Who said anything about validation?

[–]officerkondo0 points1 point  (7 children) | Copy

Who said anything about validation?

You did, by your admitted actions and concerns.

Your post's title is, "Wedding ring at the gym", but your concern isn't about anything relevant to the purpose of being at the gym e.g. if a ring interferes with gripping the bar (PROTIP: it does). Rather, you are solely concerned with how your wearing a wedding ring affects how women at the gym pay you attention.

Do you understand?

[–]Alphaphux0 points1 point  (6 children) | Copy

My observation is that it alters the interactions, good/bad/indifferent. I'm trying to better understand the ring on vs ring off phenomena I notice.

It's a 2 pronged question, the only time I notice it is at the gym because I dont wear my ring there and I presume a lot of other guys in MRP who do normally wear one (by choice or not) remove it at the gym for the reasons outlined in the comments

Who cares what the title says, everything in MRP relates to women and sexual strategy... if I only cared about rings and gyms there's a heap of other subs I could've posted in...

Do you understand?

[–]officerkondo0 points1 point  (5 children) | Copy

My observation is that it alters the interactions, good/bad/indifferent.

Of course it alters social interactions. Why? Because its very purpose is to be an outward marker of status.

I'm trying to better understand the ring on vs ring off phenomena I notice.

Why do you care about this at the gym? When I enter the gym, all I care about it picking up weights and putting them down, and if I have made progress since my last session. I don't regard anyone else at the gym. Do you know why? Because they're irrelevant to why I'm there.

In fact, why do you care about reactions to your wedding ring at all? Wear it or don't, but do it because it is what you wish to do.

Who cares what the title says, it is what it is...

Is this a serious comment? You are the one who wrote it.

I wore that fucking ring for one day and one day only. Our wedding.

I hate it. It's a visual representation of ownership by a woman. It's the prize they are all after.

My wife has never taken it off I swear. I always tell her I want a pick of her wedding finger comming out of her pussy. Mrp success has started the proactive pictures this year and I love it. It's escalating. I want the pussy shot, I blew 4k on that ring.
