Don't feel bad. My finance statemets/receipts looked the same except it was more money. I thought he'd appreciate me being financially helpful lmaoooo sike I thought giving him money would be looked at as one of the ultimate acts of care and "love". I was a clown pick me too back then. I was doing all of the man things plus taking his evil abuse on top.

I think this is a really great example of how us spending money on men hurts us. I’m not sure if this was for dates, but let’s say it was. There is over 800 dollars here that could have went into OP’s 401K or Roth, towards debt, towards an emergency fund, towards making her home more cozy. Even those who say “it’s only money” well, it could have been donated to a woman’s shelter or towards organizations that assist women and children with DV.

Money is such a tangible thing. It can change lives, esp OP’s. This is really eye opening, I’m glad OP shared. She’s a strong person and we all can learn from her🌎❤️

2 years ago I was doing a similar thing he gaslit me into thinking my family was toxic and that we would "grow together" Luckily I was able to recoup some of the money but got sick of him and the shitty situation and left.

Wow this reminds me of my ex who took my gold chain and gold ring as a compensation for the (imaginary) money he spent on me while breaking up. He said he will take a look at those. Kept in his pocket and left one day. Said he forgot to bring but will give back every time we met after that. And finally we broke up. At that time he used this jewelry on me. It depends on your state, but in small claims court there’s usually a 6 year statute of limitations. Even if you don’t want the money, you can be petty and be a thorn in his side by dragging him to small claims court. I believe you don’t necessarily need a verbal agreement you just have to convince the court he owes you money. It should be easy to do if you were supporting his bum ass when he wasn’t working, which is super easy to prove.

Omg girl. I also have a story to tell. I took a loan to help my ex move to another city with me and settle there - he never appreciated the gesture and started making my life a living hell just when we moved. He would always say that he will pay me back but ofc never did. That was a lot of money for me and my credit score is really bad but I’m working on it.
