In addition, imo most people are reluctant to give up things in which they have invested a lot of time and energy. I think many people will ask themselves questions like "Do I really want to throw away 30 good years just for a bit of sex?" if the case occurs and think about it for a long time before making a decision.

There are months where I don’t have much sexual urges due to the drugs I take for a longterm health problem and I still have the desire to connect with women. I still get erections and when I’m going through one of these phases, I can still satisfy my partners, but the sexual feelings aren’t that strong or enjoyable .

The problem is with that question is that the vast majority of women overly rely on their sexual power instead of an interesting personality to attract men, which means guys like me who can tolerate relationships without much sex are left with not many options. I’ve gone on dates with so many overly demanding women who think that just because of the organ between their legs, I have to appeal to their every checklist, like as if I’m in a job interview whilst they don’t need to show that they’ve worked on themselves to make themselves socially appealing that doesn’t include trying to look sexy has been really demoralising for someone like me. And in social settings, the way a lot of women expect you as a man to be their entertainment because they think they’re too sexy to tell a joke or to be a joy is a bit depressing. I find in these phases, it’s very difficult to date because so many women see their vaginas or their careers as their final trump card when it comes to dating men, to the point where they have neglected their personalities. And the minority of women with great personalities are usually taken or too ugly. I know that’s a generalisation, but it is what it is. Sometimes I kind of wished I was gay for mainly this reason. I prefer to hang out with the boys than any of my close female workmates for mainly this reason too. I’ve actually told one of my best mates whose funny as hell, incredibly empathetic and loyal that I’ve had a deeper emotional connection with him than any of my ex girlfriends. I mainly blame men for the fact that the vast majority of women overly depend on their sexual power to attract mates, seeing how so many men seem to prioritise sex over an appealing personality.

Interestingly enough, I’ve actually felt really emotionally attracted to butch lesbians who aren’t so masculine though.

If one partner was unwell, crippled, recovering from an operation, etc... it’s pretty poor form to ditch them because you can’t get your dick in them for a bit.

I did with my ex. IMO porn can satisfy that need just fine. What I've learned since then is that women love romantically through sex, so if the sex goes the relationship goes with it. If and when that happens I definitely need to make changes that will either reignite the passion or get me into a new relationship.

When kids see their parents get divorced, it’s often really hard for them to understand that there are 100% valid reasons, like no sex for years, and them being used as guilt ammo.

Read r/deadbedrooms. A lot of couples stay together because of the kids, because the relationship is good in other ways, because of the family investments, whatever. Sometimes the other partner can’t have sex due to illness or injury - I experienced this myself last year when my fiancé was disabled, unable to work and definitely unable to fuck for a time. I didn’t leave him for it. Our situation was temporary though. Sometimes the higher libido partner waits it out but many times they do eventually leave. Probably it depends on how old you are, how long you have been together, and how long the bedroom has been dead too.

When my ex and I graduated college, she moved to another state. She would still call me and try to talk to me and continue getting emotional support.
I told her to never call me again. I'm not interested in only being emotional support guy when 1. Often times you get no emotional support back and 2. I'm not gonna be a free therapist to someone who is obviously fucking other people and wants to use me so they can have the best of both worlds.
The point of a relationship is to have a good emotional life and sex life together.
