i’m commenting so much in FDS today but everything is so true and relatable. when my ex and i first got together, he charmed the hell out of me, i was ranting and raving about what a great man he was, grew up ‘religious’ (hebrew israelite), a gentleman, was so sweet, i bought every word, gesture...: and i was so hung up on it i missed out on all the red flags cause i never met a wolf in sheep’s clothing like him

this man had the most wicked spirit and left me with a nervous system that is FUCKED up from the abuse and cheating. i’m pretty sure i have CPTSD. and i never want to date again.

This is so true. I keep falling for sweet guys who have just gotten out of long term relationships thinking "thank god! A woman wanted to stay with him for X amount of years. He's high value! He's had practice! He knows how to treat a woman right!"

I go out with them. Turns out they do know how to treat a lady right. They know the drill. They know what to do and what to say because they've had that boyfriend practice.

BUT it quickly becomes evident that it's all just a show. They're just robot boyfriends. Their hearts are not in it. They're still hung up on the ex who eventually got smart and left them and they're trying to find the perfect girl to manipulate and rub in their ex's face.

These are the guys who will dump you at the drop of a hat for their ex or the next best rebound. They will end things on "good terms" with you to save face, string you along, keep you at arm's length, keep you around as a backup, etc.

damn this really hit me. I’m three weeks out of a breakup right now and this is exactly how he was. He always had such a genuine front and seemed like a good person to everyone around him. then I caught him fucking around on his phone multiple times. He was also a massive porn addict

But the way he was in the relationship was so genuine and loving, it made me think he was different than the other fuckboys I had dated. fuckkk

My personal experience is the guys who claim to love Jesus and who are church-attending Christians are the worst. They judge you and demand perfection and servitude with a smile. The fact that they both participated in shop lifting, lying, and ignoring their responsibilities was not a problem for them. One pulled a hit and run in a parking lot while i was in the car, begging him to go back and leave his number. After all, they’re cHRisTiAn and Jesus loves them and forgives them. Christianity is used by LVMs as a free pass to be garbage people.

Yeah. I’m not a child anymore, I wouldn’t have let my ex get away with so much if he wasn’t outwardly sweet and I didn’t truly believe it. It probably shook me more than anything else because I never expected malice out of him. And maybe he wasn’t malicious, but he was still emotionally stunted.

Yes!! One of the things to convince me that my ex was HV was the overwhelming care and generosity he displayed with his friends and family. He once took in his childhood friend (and his wife and their child) when they were in desperate need, housed them for a month and set them up with a car, job, and apartment when they were brand new to the US. How could he be anything but high value, right?! Wrong. The man was a useless, selfish, narcissistic asshole who walked out on me because he didn’t like that I had PPD.

He can be a good friend, an attentive son, a successful businessman, and still be a no value partner.
