Had a discussion yesterday where a woman claimed she was given the harmful message of inferiority wrt to men from her elders, peers and society at large. Further she claimed:

the conditioning can fuck with someone's self-esteem and limit their choices in life.

There was then a clear rejection against the claim that women are then inferior as the result of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Obviously it is possible to escape this conditioning. But even if it’s possible to escape this conditioning, it’s not 100% certain that every woman will do it. Hence, women will still be inferior to men in the aggregate. You could believe that women are unaffected by the message, but that undermines your whole argument that the message damages self-esteem and limits choices.

So it seems to be a claim that only in a theoretical and hypothetical sense are women and men are equal, but not as they stand today. I am struggling to rationalize how some of you are claiming that women internalize messages of inferiority while simultaneously claiming that women are not inferior. I am then struggling to decide who believes women are more inferior: terpers or the type of woman above?

Do you agree that women receive a message of inferiority? Are women then made inferior by internalizing societal narratives in a self-fulfilling prophecy?
